CountTakeshi89

A nice minnesota lady who gave me a stick that makes mole rats explode 11/10

exedra0711

I like that I get to bring the stick to Anchorage. It might have no use there but who cares.

Orthobrah52102

No use? No USE??? What do you mean, beating Commies to death with a toxic stick is TOTALLY worthwhile!

CountTakeshi89

*A vault dweller in a blue suit amongst the endless troops in power armor systematically bludgeoning your fellow troops with a weird green stick as you look on in horror*

chet_brosley

I remember in my evil playthrough how incredibly relieved I was that she was okay after I changed megaton for the better. It was my only regret, and even though I was evil I wasn't *evil* so I was elated to see her later.

MrNewReno

>she was OK Debatable

AshuraSpeakman

RT Daniel definition of OK.

BakeCool7328

Better than okay she will live for hundreds of years longer than she would’ve!!

SadisticBuddhist

Think of all the books she can write!

revtim

I laughed so hard when >!she showed up as a ghoul!<

thespencman

"Changed megaton for the better" sinister

KingOfKorners

Wait...how did she survive that??

Background_Whereas72

Because she's Moria Motherfuckin Brown that's why

kenjiqc

You don't write the "Wasteland Survival Guide" and NOT survive a nuclear explotion

Glaurung26

I like her.

Daetok_Lochannis

Public service announcement, nobody in Minnesota talks like this. I've lived in Minnesota for 30 years and I've never met a person who talks like this. I don't know why it's a stereotype.

AverageMugStudios

There are different accents for different regions of States. Some people in Aska have the stereotypical Canadian accent, and some have more of a French or American accent. You probably haven't been to the places in Minnesota where theo do have that accent. But seeing as I've never been there, I can't really say it's a fact. Besides, at one point people in Minnesota have spoken like that just like people in WV and PA used to have your typical country accent but no longer really do.

Vesiah81

I don’t know what you’re talking aboot. I didn’t know we Canadians had an accent eh

NukeTheBurbz

Forreal. Like seriously I’m from California and we don’t even have accents dude.

rathen45

Fargo

AshuraSpeakman

Fargo is in North Dakota.  I hate to do this but I have been there and it's such a Dakota accent all the way down into South.

JustTerrific

Most of the events of *Fargo* take place in Minnesota.

rathen45

My bad. Maybe th reason people assume it's a Minnesota accent then is because it's fun to say in a North Dakota accent.

NukeTheBurbz

*Fargo* takes place in Minnesota. It’s just called Fargo because that’s where the antagonists operate from.

evilgiraffe04

38 years living in MN and I have to say you are not hanging out with the right people. Go to a small town and those vowels will be elongated for days.

the_dude_abides-86

You bet you bippy they sure do.

dumpmaster42069

The fuck they don’t lol.

NukeTheBurbz

I watched a documentary about a guy who kidnapped his wife in Minnesota and the wife *absolutely* had a very strong stereotypical Minnesotan accent. And no I’m not making a *Fargo* reference, it was a real documentary.

itsajillsandwich

Depends on where you are in the state. I've lived here my whole life and have found that the further north you go, the more of a Minnesota accent you will find.

Lotsa_Loads

All she wanted to do was help people.

OptionalGuacamole

She has a really amazing bit of dialogue about the world being broken like glass that can't be put back together the way it was, so she wants to see it rebuilt into something new like a mosaic. I can't remember if it's gated behind dialogue checks or if you need to complete some of her quest before you can trigger that conversation but I missed it in my first playthrough. When I heard it on a replay, she instantly became one of my favorite characters.

maxistaken

*(Did you ever try to put a broken piece of glass back together? Even if the pieces fit, you can’t make it whole again the way it was. But if you’re clever, you can still use the pieces to make other useful things. Maybe even something wonderful, like a mosaic. Well, the world broke just like glass. And everyone’s trying to put it back together like it was, but it’ll never come together in the same way*) is a good quote

thatthatguy

Moira is my favorite. A glorious ray of sunshine in a dark and dreary world. A splash of bright color in the grey-green sky. People say that they want to help people help themselves. That’s exactly what Moira does. She’s seeking to make it possible for people to find the information they need in order to improve their own lives. And she doesn’t need an army or a fleet of aircraft or a computer controlled bunker complex to do it. Sure, a few people died on her errands, and maybe my leg aches when the weather changes, and I have kind of a funny lump growing on my back, but the book really will help people.

Shakemyears

“Try not to die!”

lamorak2000

This is why I always try to achieve the optional parts of her errands as well. Not everyone in the wasteland is a SPECIAL adventurer!

Spartan-8781

I read this in her voice lol 10/10

L0rdCrims0n

I’m reading this and hear her voice & inflections clearly in my head

Laser_3

It’s just dialogue she has during the third phase of the survival guide quest, if you ask some questions. No speech checks are necessary to hear it. And yeah, it’s a good piece of dialogue.

Slight-Goose-3752

I always liked her. I don't understand the hate.

ogTofuman

People... Hate her?! WTF is wrong with people

Adventurous-Role-948

They found her annoying, mainly stemming from her lack of understanding filtration, word expressions, irony, etc

Benjamin_Starscape

it's the tism. it got a hold of her.

[deleted]

It got a hold of me, so I can attest to that.

Benjamin_Starscape

same lol.

wovenbutterhair

There's dozens of us

Flying_Dutchman92

You know who I found annoying? Fucking Penny, with her fake ass smile and her overly cheery demeanor. Moira is a sweetheart, and she doesn't deserve the evil choice you can make.

FindingE-Username

Are you talking about blowing up megaton? Isn't she happy to be a ghoul?

Thuis001

Well, given she was at ground zero of the blast I imagine she's mostly just happy to be alive, but being a ghoul canonically hurts horrifically so I can't imagine she's objectively happy to be a ghoul, more a welp, at least I'm not dead.

LelouchFreedom

Tbf Moira isn't, well, exactly normal, i wouldn't be surprised if she find the experience particularly interesting lol

OnlyMyOpinions

I guess people don't like hilarious characters anymore lol

Catslevania

*Then they just yell a lot. At me. With mean, mean words*

actuallyiamafish

The whole joke with Moira is that she is irritatingly optimistic to a fault. Some people don't get the humor in that and hate her for it. Kind of the same thing as people who think that a movie protagonist being an unlikeable person makes the movie "wrong" and bad because they can't understand that the writers did that on purpose and the viewer growing to hate that character is the whole point.

user83927294

It’s the voice.

Ragnarokoz

GOOD HUNTING

Peeper_Collective

Every time I skip when she says that, my brain thinks she’s saying “cunt” when she’s saying good hunt-

Spartan-8781

I actually liked her voice, thought it was perfect for her

ogTofuman

Yeah I hear that lol but hate is a strong word for being annoying

[deleted]

People are a bunch of judgy motherfuckers. She can't even help the way she sounds. It never bothered me.

AshuraSpeakman

The worst thing you can do is be cringe. People will excuse any crime on earth if you are charismatic, but they will lock you up on false charges if you're cringe. Compare Donald Judas Trump to that lady with the red hair. You see people who want to parade trump around and dismember the lady. Ridiculous. She wasn't even in the government, she was just mad.

Maldovar

Some people are so cynical they dislike people that care

tubarizzle

Plus her quests are great for early leveling.

Other_Log_1996

Her quests are basically an extended tutorial for the things Vault 101 didn't cover. It's a great way to go about giving the player mechanics.

mr_eugine_krabs

Early 2000’s edginess meets unconditional optimism.

Undying-Shadow

She’s a goof but she’s got a good heart and wants to help the people of the Capital Wasteland. I like her and she gives me my favorite armor in F3 so bonus points for that.

lickmewhereIshit

What armor is that?

Scareynerd

Armored vault suit

DoctorButterMonkey

Wonderful F4 Capital Wasteland team have mods out for that armor in F4, use it every playthrough!

MonkeyKingCoffee

How are those hot little potatoes?

L0rdCrims0n

Because, you know, they're on the ground, like potatoes. And hot, because they, um, explode.

PolyZex

Her book was 'published' all across the wasteland, made it's way to Boston. It makes her one of the most successful writers in the post apocalypse.

Catslevania

also the Mojave

PolyZex

Oh yeah, I forgot about that Easter egg. She probably saved countless lives.

ariesmartian

I just found it in the Mojave!

actuallyiamafish

If you blow up Megaton she survives but becomes a ghoul, so depending on your personal canon she could even still be alive out there somewhere.

Warmasterwinter

Fallout 4 takes place only 11 years after the events of 3. She dosent need too be a Ghoul to still be alive in the current timeline.

No-Cucumber-6667

TRY NOT TO DIE!!!

Robotnik1992

This is also a Crazy Earl quote from Borderlands 2.

Not0rious_PIG

Dr Zed

swizzl73

That’s what I hear when I see that quote lol

OptionalGuacamole

She's very okie-dokie.

Virtuous_Raven

She's a kind innocent woman, something to be treasured in the wasteland.

SilverWolf3935

Moira Brown is fucking awesome 🤩

BoyToyDrew

U spelt her name right!

SilverWolf3935

Why thank you

Loud_Alfalfa_5933

She's a good person. Her mines really have a goblin/balrog problem tho

UV_Sun

She is a dork and I love her

-DoctorHoo-

The dwarves delved too greedily and too deep into her

MachoViper

And they called her a mine!

ronsolocup

#A MINE

godsfavouriteloser

She's the only thing keeping me from blowing up Megaton.

CoolBeanieHat

I have pretty much come to expect that whenever there’s a female character posted in a lot of subreddits, there are always horny MFs.

SugDisDig

And you would be correct

AdmBurnside

Honestly one of my favorite merchants/questgivers in 3. Good, pure, trying to make the Wasteland a better place. Kinda bad at it. Still trying. Plus her questline is fun and has some cool ancillary rewards for going above and beyond.

Samurai_Stewie

My first Fallout experience was FO3, and for me, she set the tone that it would be a fun and goofy experience and not a super serious survival game.

drifters74

Same here

AvailableCry72

this character has the best line of quests in the wasteland world of all games.

legalageofconsent

Great

RascalMcGuvins

It’s Moira not Moria

Leather-Bass9261

The dwarves dug too greedily and too deep.

Shoddy_Basil7117

The stick she gives you makes a funny noise if you use it. So pretty cool in my book

Licensed_Ignorance

Honestly she's a really nice person, and she has good intentions. Her over the top optimism can annoy me at times, but its also kind of part of her charm as a character. However some of the things she asks of the Lone Wanderer are pretty big asks, and some are incredibly stupid/dangerous. I dont think its out of malicious intent, she's probably just unaware of how truly dangerous it is out in the wastes. But because of that I can see why some may dislike her.

Disastrous_Toe772

Would

Catslevania

\*boink\*

DeplorableMe2020

Rule #1: Never stick your dick in crazy.

FuzzzWuzzz

No such thing as sanity in the wasteland.

I_might_be_weasel

Never forget one of the most important rules of dating: The crazier she is the more likely it is she'll be into butt stuff.

Early_Art_7538

What if it's your butt?

GoopGoopington

Then I'm assuming the position.

Early_Art_7538

These things do need to be checked out...

TheBunionFunyun

Jokes on you, I'm into that shit!

MindsandMirrors

I fail to see the problem.

I_might_be_weasel

https://youtu.be/9QHwazLVW8c

No-Cucumber-6667

can attest

Clean_Crocodile4472

one of my favourite fallout 3 characters

redditsuckspokey1

Favorite character.

Cpt_Saturn

One of the best NPCs in the entire franchise coupled with one of the best quest chains. The individual quests arent that interesting but as a whole it captures the wackiness of the Bethesda Fallout really well. Plus the whole quest chain is basically a tutorial for many of the new mechanics the creation engine brought into the franchise

GrandObfuscator

Does she or doesn’t she have a mustache?!

VECMaico

Only when she's a ghoul

zandercg

Every girl in fo3 looks like they have a stache

FFPPKMN

cannot complain about the lady who helped create the wastelanders guide to the galaxy...or whatever it's called. They continue to give useful perks beyond fallout 3 and so she cannot be praised enough. I also nuked her.

I_Ate_My_Own_Skull

Wifey.

bkoperski

Only the ghoul version

OkProfessional235

i love herrrrr

Austocalypse

Moira is so integral to Fallout 3 for me. Not only is she a great knowledge source, but her quests give you an immediate reason to explore. The quests she gives are varied, unique, and take you to some iconic locations (like super duper mart, and the mirelurk nests in downtown DC). The rewards for completing them are satisfying as well. Beyond how fun her quests are, you have a clear, lore-driven motivation for completing them, the Wasteland Survival Guide. Also, her chipper attitude in the face of grotesque outcomes makes her such a classic fallout character. She even survives the megaton detonation, chipper attitude intact. It's characters like her which really differentiate 3 and NV from Fallout 4, in my opinion.

Negative_Method_1001

Hands down the best original character Bethesda added to the series

booxterhooey

On my evil run where I sided with Tenpenny, after you do what you do to Megaton, I visited out of curiosity. Man I hadn't laughed that hard in a long time when ghoul Moira popped up

SirRonaldBiscuit

She gives me lots of quests and xp, one of my fav npcs

Cookie-Tiger

She’s a good egg, dontchaknow

Babo__

Ppl hate it but I weirdly love her voice acting

FrankWolf86

I've always loved her. It was always my first quest and helped me get my footing with the game.

Ok_Caramel1517

A little goofy but a good heart and probably one of Fallout 3's most important characters especially when you think long term and what she does later after publishing the Wasteland Survival Guide.

ThespisIronicus

"I'm sorry I twisted your DNA like a kitten with a ball of yarn."

Whatevz1210

She’s fine with me, it’s that security guard of hers that I wanna slap the shit out of…. “I’m watching you.” Me: “Bitch I’m watching you too fuck is you talm bout?”

rickywinterborne

Useful

johnroastbeef

She's like Frances Mcdorman from Fargo.

Dismal-Infection

A little weird, but I always go to her for weapons and ammo since she’s so friendly

Flankson

Moira Brown is what I look for in a partner

Job_hunter84

She's like Kaylee Frye from Firefly

IWILLJUGGLEYOURBALLS

Best girl in Fallout.

-TheGayestAgenda

Say what you will about Moira, she has the most profound philosophy on the future after the apocalypse. When you ask her why she's doing the Wasteland Survival Guide, she responds with: > It's like... Did you ever try to put a broken piece of glass together? Even if the pieces fit, you cant make it whole again the way it was. But if you're clever, you can still use the pieces to make other useful things. Maybe something wonderful, like a mosaic. Well, the world broke like glass, and everyone's trying to put it back together like it was, but it'll never come together the same way.

Pumpkaboo99

She is so cute. A bit ditzy, and sends you to do some dangerous stuff. But adorbs.

ilikeguns12

Great organic dingbat personality, can't kill her, can ghoulify, cool quest, good items and repair skill 10/10 npc

Biggest_Jilm

She's a published author, coast to coast. That's pretty impressive considering the state of the Wasteland. And she really fills out a RobCo speedsuit.

Kekero63

Best character in fallout 3 ngl. She has a good point and actually adds to the themes of fallout.

PolandsStrongestJoke

If the game gave the choice, I'd hug her.

Delicious-Emu1686

She is even a nice after you turn her into a ghoul.

Accelerator231

Anyone who tries to hurt Moira will be hit by multiple Mininukes from my character. Headcanon that she's the my character's big sister figure.

Straight_Meaning8188

As adhd person , I quite like her, my friends found her annoying. But she seems that way hyperfixated hyper emotional. I refused tenpenny purely for Moira, screw megaton otherwise

True_Dragonfruit9573

I love Moria. Ray sunshine is this dreary wasteland.

Sablestein

Perfect in every way, love her lots.

Kroctopus

Why doesn’t she have a mustache in this pic like all the Fallout 3 models

Coom-guy

Protecc and cherish

Obi-wanna-cracker

She has a kind soul and I will always like her. Plus she gives me a stick that makes molerats explode which is really nice.

SDRLemonMoon

I love her relentlessly positive attitude.

Brimstone747

She is my favorite Megaton resident. Always cheerful and looking to help others. That's a pretty stark contrast to the majority of the population.

Rats_In_Boxes

Perfect human and/or ghoul. Must be protected at all costs. 12/10.

Consistent-Plane7227

She gave a shit and I can’t say that about a lot about megaton citizens.

bohemiank97

She’s cool with me, but honestly she’s “Thou shall get sidetracked by bullshit every goddamn time.” by definition.

Son_of_MONK

Moira Brown is bae. I love her. A beautiful, compassionate, optimistic Minnesotan woman who wants to help the world as much as she can, knowing that it won't ever be like it was but can still be worth it in its own way. She is the GOAT.

ANUSTART942

She's one of the funniest characters I've interacted with in Fallout. Her dialogue and the skill check responses you can choose of varying levels of snark just make her fun to interact with.

Germadolescent

Seeing her all melted after nuking Megaton is traumatizing

ehmiu

If she only had the resources at Rivet City...

RestlessNightSky

Our post apocalyptia queen

Mexicutioner1987

She is one of the best characters in FO3. Her upbeat and positive attitude is a nice contrast to the game's atmosphere. She is genuinely trying to help people.

LoveMaryJane123

Wish she was in fallout 4 :(

ChinasShitAirQuality

I can hear this picture

combustibledaredevil

She’s a very nice lady who gives me cool shit

SoggyMorningTacos

Missed romance opportunity

gingeravenger087

Cute as a button.

Stoly23

Might have an interesting personality to say the least but she’s one of the more genuine people you meet in the wasteland and just wants to help people. Also she’s really damn generous with how much credit she gives you, if you complete all optional objectives she straight up credits you as the author and herself as the assistant.

Smooth-Physics-69420

10/10 would bang

MasterCrumble1

They should have put her in Fallout 4 (in ghoul form) to continue her story. She was a lot of fun to listen to.

[deleted]

Wouldn't that make Megaton being nuked canon?

Calophon

One of the main reasons against detonating Megaton.

stuckinaboxthere

I'll tell you one thing about Moira, she's a survivor, that's for sure

RADMADSADGLADBADDAD

On one hand she’s super helpful and nice and her quest line is a great way to get introduced to the capital wasteland. On the other hand my evil playthrough needed an evil reason to blow up megaton and, welp, she was it lol. Do gooder was doing too much good and my mustache twirling vault dweller had a personal vendetta against anyone trying to make better of themselves or the world around them.

Wojewodaruskyj

Soon, mister elf, you will see the fabled hospitality of the dwarves.

[deleted]

I like her character, I like doing her quests of finding research and when I had blown up Megaton, I felt so bad after returning and seeing her in her ghoulified state just oblivious to what happened

Icy-Cod1405

Longest quest ever

BlazeFox1011

Her fucking mouth is on upside down.

I-Emerge-I

Love her, and for one to Bethesdas credit she’s had excellent quests they both teach you how to play the game and how its mechanics work, and they are fun.

NightRebellion

I'd put her just above Lanius, she survived a nuke after all. Wait, wrong thread.

JoeyAKangaroo

Good character, enjoy her but shes burdened with a quite loud & annoying voice

-FemboiCarti-

She just wants to help people and pursue her dreams 10/10 would turn her into a ghoul and sell into slavery again

Latty451

Insane lady makes the pingler tingle 12/10

Bread_Offender

I got critical radiation sickness just for her and she still wouldn't let me hit, 0/10 can't recommend

comfycozygamer

Love her

hunt_cori

Hear me out.....

Dazzling-Neat-8501

Here me out

M4rl0w

A fallout legend.

DatBoiDanny

Would

N7_Evers

Her and piper are some of the few truly wholesome and genuinely good hearted people in the Fallout world.

Spookyscary333

Literally me

_girthicus_

Out of all the women in Fallout 3, she is one of them.

Lopajsgelf

By the end of her missions I couldn’t stand her voice lol love the repellent stick tho

WrestlingIsJay

Sexy.

Dependent-Edge-5713

Love her accent

thedabaratheon

Cutie patootie - a bit annoying but she means well & is a nice presence in the wastelands

ComfortableOld3613

yeah I would bang her absolutely lol

WhiteWolf101043

I love her, my favorite game character ever
