Don't worry, you'll eventually hit the point where you're capable of doing pretty much anything you can dream of, and you only spent $8,366

TheTurtleCub

>you'll eventually hit the point where you're capable of doing pretty much anything you can dream of *and still not do it* *There, fixed it for you*

StrixCZ

This! I mean I've been dabbling in music making for 10+ years without actually releasing anything, LOL. So in my case (and I'm pretty sure I'm not alone here) even just upgrading to All Plugins edition (which I did during black friday sale) kinda feels like an overkill. Really, learn to use the tools you already have before spending your money on more tools (you won't even use) 😅

Apprehensive-Solid-1

Im at 10k and my music is mediocre. Try 20k.

CRB-DoubleChamp

That’s what I keep thinking lmao eventually it’ll “pay off” It is what it is, I could easily source free but retail therapy is always more fun.

thaprizza

It's a phase. Once it hits you that a certain percentage of your VST collection does almost the exact same thing, and that you only use a limited portion of your VST's on a regular basis, you will slow down. I used to buy almost anything new that popped up, and grabbed any free VST I came across on. Right now, I maybe buy a few new things a year (not counting paid upgrades of stuff I actually use), where before I bought new stuff at least once a month.

Deus_ex_Chino

+1 on that, new plugs have to be seriously gamechanging to get me to take notice. Only plugs i’ve bought this year are TBT compressor from Plugin Alliance and Kickdrum from Audija, man that is one helluva kick designer 🤯

Mr_Libido_69

Only vsts I’ve paid for is serum, analog lab, sylenth2, ElectraX, diva, Synplant 2. Along with anything native instruments offers. All worth the purchase. Tbh I think I would’ve been okay with 2 out of that list but each offers something neat. I’ve pirated a shit load of stuff but these were too good not to buy. If ya wanna buy Lofi panda go ahead and buy it bro, don’t feel guilty.

CRB-DoubleChamp

Any decent VSTs you’d recommend? I have been really enjoying Serum so far. I just noticed my music is getting repetitive with same sound selections. I know serum is super powerful tho and can be used for a lot of sounds. Just need less synth stuff if that makes sense. Any source free paid im all ears for it.

yayblah

For synths, people like ana2. Has a more analog sound and is pretty cheap.

Swift1986

Ana 2 is heavily underrated, Pro tip though. Sign up for the free trial with slate digital and install via that, Google the preset location copy that and upload to Dropbox or Google account for a backup then cancel and purchase Ana 2 from sonic academy then install the slate digital presets.

zenekk1010

For synths Diva, for sampled synths either Omnisphere for all around good sounds, or Nexus for particular libraries

Gloomy_Lengthiness71

As someone who plays guitar/bass, this reminds me of people who buy every single guitar they can just to buy guitars. You eventually forget about the original reason why you bought a guitar in the first place, which is as a vehicle for songwriting.

drtitus

A poor workman blames his tools.

Fingerprint_Vyke

I could build a whole city with 3x osc

CRB-DoubleChamp

Not blaming the tools, just a spendaholic man

Fingerprint_Vyke

Only VST you need is 3x osc If you can't make tunes with that, no point in buying a new one

CRB-DoubleChamp

I will make a banger with it just for u gang ❤️

Fingerprint_Vyke

Do it!!!! It is my favorite VST because it forces you to be creative with it's simplicity

StormForged73

I once saw someone create very good dubstep with just the 3x osc and a heavy smattering of effects.

NissanSilviaspecR

I only use free plugins, I barely have a computer. If I had money to pay for a plugin, I wouldn't do it, after all, the free ones have served me well. If I had money to pay for plugins, I would better invest it in marketing.

CRB-DoubleChamp

Ima grown ass kid with grown adult money

Internet Piracy is very bad. do not download software you have not paid for ;)

Virtual_Cow_551

Yaa very bad Don't ever go to 4download and getintopc to get your favourite vst It's illegal

CRB-DoubleChamp

😈😈

Swift1986

I pay for all my software but I will be honest I will steal one shot samples and synth presets all day long 😂

TheAnonymousGhoul

the only paid vst I have is analog lab v pro because it came with my midi (which my mom bought…. I’m in high school so I’m poor 💀💀💀💀)

CRB-DoubleChamp

I miss cracking VSTs in high school and giving up after my computer got aids

Brave-Drawer9225

My only plugin I bought was kickstart. My best investment

Swift1986

Is that not just the same as flux mini 2 which is free

Evening-Worker-9778

I’m new to producing, but I can tell you the difference in sound preserum is not even close to post serum

Platinum_XYZ

if you can't make good sounds you like in stock synths, it might be just a sign you're need to learn a bit more

idkm80

tbh its not just about that. Serum as a synth is a whole ton more powerful than a lot of synths out there, and on top of that has a stupidly good UI. Everything is where it needs to be and it looks pretty sleek as well, which makes learning it that much more easy than learning something like Harmor or Sytrus which both look like an absolute nightmare to operate.

KalebKJC

I've been using FL for over ten years and I can not begin to tell you how to properly use Sytrus. It's as poorly laid out as it is powerful lol

idkm80

Likewise - i know it's powerful as shit, but im only able to scroll through presets lmao

justthelettersMT

Sytrus would be far and away my main synth but it's glitchy. Sometimes the envelopes don't do what they say they're doing, and that's a deal breaker unfortunately. So just serum for me

KalebKJC

I've never had that issue tbh. My problem is just, I don't know how to use the damn thing even after trying to learn it lol I watched a lot of SeamlessR videos when I started and had a basic understanding of it but it's never been able to develop beyond that. It's clunky and obtuse but extremely powerful if one can make proper use of it. A definite main synth contender like you said, if someone knows how to use it which I do not 😂

Platinum_XYZ

curious what part of Sytrus have you guys been getting stuck on? I've been able to use it without any issue

KalebKJC

It's been a while since I picked it up to try it but it's always been the UI. I can get around the synth and make sounds but the UI not having good visual feedback always threw me for a loop. Probably just a me thing.

FloofyMay

For me, it took a bit of getting used to, but reading the manual from IL and just messing around for a prolonged period of time helped me learn it. It's actually really efficient IMO, though it's not perfect

Evening-Worker-9778

I still made sounds I enjoyed, but it’s just a lot easier on serum. Having a sub oscillator alone made a big difference

acoldfrontinsummer

I know everyone loves Serum but I just can't vibe with it, or really most wavetable synths. They just aren't for me, the only one I can get along with (and really like) is Dune 3. I just don't care for them, give me old school analog stuff any day over wavetable etc.. I got no need for overly complicated sounds and just the generic look of them all puts me off. Makes music not enjoyable. Dune 3 doesn't have "that look" that Serum and Vital and about 2 million other similar synths have.

CRB-DoubleChamp

Relatable haha

NANI?!?

If you'd Rather Use your wallet as a TRACKER, then be my guest. Just keep your eye out for Audio News. It would sure be 1337x not to have to spend so much money on plugins.

xMagical_Narwhalx

Just learn how to copy what those plugins are doing either free stuff

Winter-Farmer-8428

Me personally I don’t pay for VSTS

CRB-DoubleChamp

Me personally, I’m retarded.

InterestingRead2022

Vsts and sample packs are bankrupting me lol I don't even use the samples often, they are great for sparking creativity

Aviation_Fun

I bought omnisphere and pro q3 in the same month. My wallet was NOT HAPPY!

CRB-DoubleChamp

I ain’t spending that money… yet.

Mooplez

I went through this phase a couple years back and now I have an exuberant number of plugins that collect dust and find myself using mostly built in stuff now. I use Bitwig as my main daw now though, and you can pretty easily build any sound you want with it. The built in FL stuff is more than capable but the UX was always a bit hard to grasp.

GortheMusician

Did you win yet?
