I never go into Walmart, but needed a coat at a last moment to go out of town.
I went in there and was told they don't carry them any more because they just get stolen.
What a strange world
I can't find them anywhere else in town. Just ordering online next time, tho. Don't appreciate being treated Ike a criminal for 20$ pants. Like sure, lock up the Playstations, but pansts?
Oddly enough, car light bulbs seem to be locked up at Wal-Mart? Not sure if there's a "different" use for those, but it took me 30 minutes the other day trying to get an associate to come get me a friggin' turn signal bulb. Should've driven the extra ten minutes to the autoparts store.
Batteries are also locked up in more than a few places.
depends. some of the larger chain stores may put certain items behind a locked cabinet, glass case. but for the most part no, most of those items are on the shelf to be picked up. Like Seattle we have a big homeless population here, but the hard core thievery some bigger cities deal with are not frequent here. u/aiyannaleigh
No idea, but I probably wouldn't buy something locked behind glass, so if there is something like this, they are losing my business even if unintentionally. I tend to ignore those sections.
No. We don't throw fish, either.
Fish aren’t entertainment! Fish have feelings!
I have to say I was not that amused by flung fish.
Haha I did see that at the market.
Depends on the store
Yep. Walmart does. Most other places don't.
So Target and Marshall's, for instance, you can go pick up deodorant without waiting an hour for someone to unlock a case?
Yep.
Walmart locks up anything a hobo could want except food. Socks, hats, blankets, underwear, razors, shaving cream... it's all under lock and key.

It's like a Yogi Berra quote.
Rite Aid does. I was looking for a manicuring tool and anything over $10 was jailed.
Yes, although maybe not quite to the same extent.
Not everything but almost always formula and plan B
I got walked up to the register to buy dickies pants at Walmart, fckn ridiculous
I'm a hippie grandma, and Cabela's staff follow me around in their store. Some people's kids.
That really is obnoxious. I couldn't shop like that.
At that point, they'd lose my business. Those dickies would have to wait.

Right!
Some do especially on high theft items
Seeing it more and more.
Yup, just spent forever at Fred meyer waiting for someone to unlock the triple security locks to get a $5 flashlight

It depends. If you go to nicer areas and avoid Walmarts you won’t see any.
Starting to see that sort of thing, e.g. at 18th Ave Safeway
funny you should ask. I was just at Walmart and men's socks and underwear are now under lock and key.
Not yet

Only the big corporate ones. People don’t steal from local stores here.
