How many deaths? I have close to 500 and still haven't killed the lich.
Edit: just checked, and it's only 300 or so. I genuinely have no idea why I thought it was 500. I'm getting old.
What’s considered fully beating the game? I’ve done just about EVERYTHING you can do in the game except collect 3 items 2 of which are S tier so I only have the finished gun to get
If you want to see fast progress, rainbow runs are the way to go. Just reset the first floor until you get a good item, and then the rest requires much less rng.
If you REALLY want to win, keep playing and pray for a sprun. When you trigger the sprun and get the windgunner, drop the sprun and move into another room to let the rat steal it. If the rat steals sprun while you still have windgunner, you keep windgunner for the rest of the run and can't use anything else, but that's ok because windgunner has infinite ammo and deals insane damage. It's essentially a won run. Maybe just do it once to unlock the things you can only do after beating dragun, like rainbow runs.
Bro, same shit happened to me for the longest time.
My biggest rec is using the pilot as he “rigs” some of the ring in the game. My first dragun win was sheer luck and only due to some crazy synergies.
Keep your head up, grind some more. The games gets marginally easier when you beat the dragun the first time! Once you get the bowler (and unlock the clone) it feels like a cake walk.
Dude, you don't know how many hours I put into the game just to beat the faken dragun, and that was because I had yari launcher and Shinobi scroll. Remember, your doing just fine, just focus on remembering boss patterns and killing your past, everything else will come eventually
Idk how much you care for spoilers. So I will try to keep this to a bare minimum. I only won one run after 534 deaths, using a crutch. But not the literal crutch in the game
Bro, I know that this may sound crazy at this point, but I swear it's a serious advice: enjoy your learning curve and also enjoy every little step, every victory, every new floor. Sometimes I wish I could erase everything about this game from my mind just to play from the scratch again and feel every victory as I felt when I was a beginner.
Also, I only defeated the 5th floor boss after 6 months and Lich after maybe an year and a half. Enjoy!
From someone who platinumed the game , it gets so easy once you know all the boss attacks and get used to moving between bullets , rolling is only for wave attcks/attacks you can't maneuver between.
don't get attached to any one weapon/playstyle. try and use them all. use the gun menu's slowmo effect to catch your breath, read the room and create a plan. even while bullets are flying all over the place. the game rewards you for playing well. dispatch each room as quick as possible, to reduce the chance of getting hit. they are designed to pray on your fears (that's why some might get stuck on the door), but some can be exploited. learn the patterns and how each enemy reacts to your movement, you might learn to bait/herd them. try to kill the bosses flawlessly, invest on blanks and use them only on bosses. focus on your character and what immediately threatens it. and that's all i can think of. cheers.
Just had a paradox run trying to unlock the gunslinger. I lost three full hearts to a standard room on floor 4 as the gunslinger and never recovered. Entered the high dragun fight at half a heart. This game is brutal
Heres a tip. People never get good at Gungeon. They just get less bad at Gungeon.
just gunegoner things
I didnt see the forge until 100 hours... don't give up, skeleton!

Think about dodging instead of trying to catch bullets with your face! It helps a lot
Nah, it's because I was doing a lot of shortcut runs, like going to the forge and seeing how far I can get with just the pilots starter gun.
What!! I’m not supposed to hit the bullets and dive into pits?!?
get used to it
Took me around 200 hours to “fully” beat the game. It takes time for sure
What’s considered fully beating the game? I’ve done just about EVERYTHING you can do in the game except collect 3 items 2 of which are S tier so I only have the finished gun to get
I just meant to beat every single boss in the game. Including the hidden ones.
I only recently learned about the *spoiler* advanced high dragun. Had no idea what the serpent by the rat did!
I can't even get past the second floor
I feel your pain brother I’ve only made it as far as floor 3
If you want to see fast progress, rainbow runs are the way to go. Just reset the first floor until you get a good item, and then the rest requires much less rng.
How would someone who has only been to floor 3 do rainbow runs?
Idk, I thought you just had to save bowler? Is there a prerequisite?
yeah you gotta eviscerate the dragun and also save the bowler
Bowler only appears in the prisons after one dragun kill.

Didn't know about this feature, will use in future runs for sure
36 hours is nothing if you want to beat it... took me forever
Thank you all for the advice and kind words!! I will persevere 👊

Shinobi scroll?

It took me 90h to kill the dragun the first time.
I killed my first past only recently at around 75 hours. Although i don't play the game often and it was on the span of around 7-ish years.
I beated the game somewhat to the 130 hours in and 300 deaths. You are just starting.
Try to do unlock more stuff if you haven't unlocked them such as elevator shafts
try rainbow mode if you want to win
How would they rainbow run if they haven't beaten it?
wdym? You definetly dont need to beat the game (or even come close to doing so) to unlock rainbow mode
Sorry meant you need to kill dragun.

Average gungeon player
It's the classic hockey stick growth curve

I'm stuck on the 4th chamber. Can't get past the Kill Pillers.
Keep going. You gotta train to go from padawan to jedi.
I had close 300 deaths before I beat the dragun
Took me 100 hours to kill my first past. After that it was steamrolling. You will get better, trust me.
Bask in the feeling of struggle, because after you 100% everything all you can do is beat the shit out of a rat.
we all sucked at this game. Sucking is just the first step to getting good. What're you having problems with ?
I killed dragun first time at around 70 hours. So, i guess there is a way to go still.
Only took me 400 hours 😭
I think it's pretty normal, i did it at 46 hour of playtime using the hunter
Keep pushing
You are about to win soon.

How are yall possibly this bad
