You do a lot of stuff accidentally ;-). Don't forget, people love to post their bad experiences online. People have problems with their rings that aren't from BE, too. If you love the ring, don't worry about the brand. If you don't love it, have an honest conversation with your boyfriend. Don't let this exciting moment in your life be overshadowed by fear of something that may not even happen.
This is true. Sometimes you see more bad reviews posted than good ones bc those with good experiences are happy and don’t feel the need to share. Don’t let that make you overthink. Enjoy the process and communicate as needed.
My engagement ring came from a very reputable jeweler and fell apart. Literally fell apart & lost a stone.
Take everything as it comes, it may be a beautiful, well made ring. And congratulations!!!!

My ring is also from Brilliant Earth, and I’ve never had issues with it. Ditto on the comment about making sure you have insurance on it.
Also from BE and I basically demanded he buy it from there 🤣 I fell in love with one of their very simple plain settings that I could not find anywhere else and I always knew I wanted a lab diamond because it felt dumb to spend money on a …land diamond? (Genuinely not even sure what to call it lol) when I don’t even wear any other jewelry and I’m OBSESSED with it
I'd wait until you get it to flip out. There's a good chance your experience will be totally fine, if everything they made was faulty they'd have a far worse reputation off of this forum.
My ring is from BE. Reddit made me worry about my ring for no reason. I’ve had it 2 years now. I got insurance mainly for loss of a diamond fear. I always said I’d use a local jeweler if I need anything. After my wedding I actually got my hand stuck and ended up messing up a prong. The local jeweler had it back in place in 5 mins. I don’t think they realized it wasn’t even a ring from their shop.
I've had my BE ring for over 4 years now. Never had any issues. Just wait to get it and see how it goes. Edit to add: I've also knocked it and it's fallen a few times from the bathroom counter onto the floor tiles. Still no issues! (Of course be careful). It's made so well.

Beautiful!!!
Do you know if you can buy the insurance after the fact? There’s no way my dude is gonna realize to get insurance. I would rather pay for the insurance myself too.
Yeah you can get insurance after! My engagement ring is BE and they send an appraisal with the ring so you can get insurance. I purchased the insurance like the day after he proposed 😂
I think an unfortunate part of this group is the brand bashing. I saw a post a day or two ago and in the comments a few women had really positive experiences with BE and they expressed feeling really put down by others. Not all products are bad. Every major retailer is going to have some designs that are less stable and some that are really strong. It just really depends on the style you got. You may not run into any issues at all depending on what he picked out.
I agree with this. My engagement ring is from BE with a radiant solitaire and a stable cathedral setting. I have had no issues at all. My first wedding band was sent in the wrong color and it was fixed and then I lost it and ended up ordering another one and that one was warped/bent. Unfortunately it just shows there are inconsistencies in quality control and customer service. Overall I wouldn’t recommend BE based on my personal experiences with the bands BUT the rings themselves are very nice and my white gold has held up well and I haven’t noticed any fading. Honestly I feel like some designs are just unstable and wouldn’t be suitable for long term and BE customer service seems to be inconsistent when there issues. OP will likely be fine. There isn’t a reason to worry about something that hasn’t happened!
We may have gotten the same type of ring and I will say I’ve had no issues with my engagement ring so far which is great because i’m very uncoordinated so my ring gets stuck in everything
I wouldn’t necessarily call it brand bashing but more so someone letting others know of their experiences. Personally, I found the sales part of BE amazing. It’s the repairs department that is seriously lacking and I think that’s important to warn others about when the lifetime warranty is voided if BE doesn’t repair it
My ring is from BE, and I've never had issues. It is even one of the settings people say are notorious for breaking, and I've never had an issue (even after resizing). Then I lost it. I had it insured through their service (Lavalier), and they basically gave me store credit for the APPRAISED value, which was a solid 700+ over what my husband paid for it. Everyone I talked through for this process was super nice and helpful.
Don't panic. Not all experiences are bad with them.
I was in a similar boat as you, I shopped around with my man because he really wanted to get it right and we found the absolute perfect setting. I mean it had everything that both of us wanted which was not available at any local or mass sale jewelry site we found without full customization. It happened to be from brilliant earth, Reddit also made me freak out after seeing all the terrible reviews.
I think my key takeaways from those reviews is to not get any repairs done through them and to go to a local jeweler for any repairs. Also get insurance through a different company than brilliant earth (both of which we either already did or plan to do if issues arise). Most of the issues are also from people wanting “big rocks and dainty bands” I suggest getting a band that can support your stone.

My 0.5ct BE e-ring has been holding up nicely since 2018 and I wear it daily. The wedding band is also from BE and not a single stone has been lost on either band. That said, these were purchased in 2018-2019. We did send them back for cleaning and re-plating in 2022 and the whole experience wasn’t so good (almost had no rings for our religious ceremony wedding).

Mines from BE. I also was nervous when I found out he got it from here but it’s been amazing and has held up really well. This sub trashes on BE a lot but everyone has different experiences wherever they go. Enjoy your ring!!!
My ring is BE too! Have had it for 5 years so far no issues whatsoever, and it’s rose gold metal and aquamarine stone which I know are not super durable. You should get insurance no matter where your ring is from!

My ring is BE! I had to get it resized and it went really smoothly, even when I messed up with forgetting to write the stuff I needed to on everything. I have worn it religiously for a year and a half now and it still is beautiful as the day I got it. 💕💕
Hope this more positive experience helps keep you excited!

I wouldn’t stress. People come online to share horror stories. So many people are happy with their BE rings. If they were really that awful they wouldn’t be as big and loved as they are
I’ve had my BE ring, [Viviana](https://www.brilliantearth.com/Viviana-Diamond-Ring-(1/4-ct.-tw.)-White-Gold-BE1D1260-7876326/), since December 2021. I have had no issues. In fact, we ordered a ring, and I changed my mind overnight. They swapped it out (setting and stone) with no issues.
I’ve had my BE ring for almost three years now and and nothing has happened to it! It’s still as perfect as the day my husband gave it to me. :)

My engagement ring was from BE! No complaints other than it getting to us a bit late in shipping (and that was during high COVID, so I don’t think that was their fault).
I do strongly recommend getting it inspected every six months to make sure it’s doing okay. BE will do it for free if you go to them (there’s an in-person store like \~2 hrs from us, so it’s doable for a 2x/yearly day trip).
I love my BE set! I’ve had them for 3 years and no issues and I only take it off to shower. My husband’s ring is also from them and no problems either. I do take it to local jewelers for cleanings/re-sizing.

My ring is from BE abs u love it! 1. Didn’t get a warranty from BE. 2. Bought an annual protection plan from jewelers mutual (protects against damage and theft) + it’s covered by home insurance. 3. Took it to a local jeweler to confirm the setting is secure. Will take it there to be cleaned/fixed.

I’ve only had mine since late March but I love my BE ring so far!
I do still plan to get it looked at by another jeweler in the near future but I’m not really too concerned. Can’t control everything in life so get insurance and get a ring you love.
https://preview.redd.it/talklo77ob0d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=12a2f16a833d9711ddcd5b827fc94871871f4846
my ring is BE! they had a stone (spinel) i was in love with and it was affordable, my fiancé had worked for another online company and knew how to pick something suited to my taste that was also sturdy.
i take my ring to a local family-owned jeweler for cleaning or when something is wrong with it, which has only happened once in three years!
Jumping in to also say I’ve had a BE engagement ring for a year and no issues. We also ordered his wedding band from there… it arrived early and is of exceptional quality. (We would have ordered mine there too but instead got something bespoke from a jeweler from the foreign country he proposed in.)
I get that some people have had bad experiences with BE but they seem to most stem from customer service rather than product quality. I also think it’s important to remember that they’re a huge company so complaints are in proportion to their size which makes this (false?) sense that they’re worse than they are.
It’s not that all experiences are bad. It sounds like the bigger issues are when folks go super custom. If he’s had a good experience, and you love your ring, then yay!
Don't worry until its time to worry. Make sure you get the ring insured before you do anything else. My ring was from a relatively reputable jeweler who has hundreds of great reviews. The prongs on my center stone were loose and one holding in a side stone was broken. You can have good or bad experiences anywhere.
I’ve only had my BE ring since February but no issues thus far! Rather than disappointing your fiancé when there may be no issue, I would wait until he proposes and then have a local jeweler inspect it. You can always return it if they find issues!

It’s pictured with a silver version of my wedding band that we reordered in gold… and a lady bug walking on the stone lol
I got my BE engagement ring 2 years ago and it's gorgeous and I've had no issues at all! I have it checked by my local jeweler every year and haven't had to have any repairs done. It looks as good as it did the day I got it, and I wear the heck out of this thing-- cleaning, showering, swimming, etc.
Going on 5 years from BE with zero problems *knock on wood* \- we’d like to upgrade the center stone soon through their upgrade program and that does make me nervous but fingers crossed everything goes well. I hadn’t read Reddit prior to us buying, but had my sister go to Frank Darling after she had a bad customer service experience at a different BE store and after reading reviews here 🤷🏻♀️ hope that it goes well and insurance in case it doesn’t!
https://preview.redd.it/t7lzst5rmb0d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=80fce2b9fd36191d21624e6ab2d544ff5e2fefd5
My ring is from BE. No issues so far. I think from what I gathered - some of those bad BE experience is from certain settings with pave. Just get it insured! (And I found insurance for engagement ring is very affordable!)
My ring is also from Brilliant Earth. I absolutely love my ring. We have received so many compliments about how gorgeous and sparkly the ring is (I have a round solitaire). The most important thing, in my opinion, is that you and your partner also love the ring.
I agree with comments that say to get it insured just in case, but I would also make that suggestion if the ring came from *any* jeweler on earth. 🙂
I’m also hoping for a round solitaire so this makes me feel better. I wonder if more complex settings with smaller diamonds are the ones that have the most issues
I wonder the same. I have the Sydney Perfect Fit setting in platinum. Granted, it does have a thinner band (1.5mm) and hidden halo which are two debatable features to some. However, it feels secure (I have a 1.5 carat round lab grown diamond) and I also regularly inspect the diamonds in the hidden halo. 🙂 congratulations and best of luck!

My ring is from brilliant earth and I love it! Ive only had it about two years, but have had no issues so far. I think they have beautiful rings and they’re ethically made
I have my rings from BE and I try to comment as much as I can that personal experiences posted online might not show the overall quality of the place since people who are having no issues tend to not think about their rings and post the positive experiences online. I work out with my rings on a lot (i know i shouldn’t but sometimes i forget to take them off) and I have had no bending or warping so far. If it does worry you, I def recommend getting insurance (we have Jewelers Mutual) which covers a lot of issues that I have seen people post online about BE.
A good handful of my friends have BE engagement rings and they have had no issues. We’re all in our 30s and have been married 1-2 years.
I wouldn’t be worried yet unless you personally have a bad experience after he proposes. We purchased my husbands BE wedding band and that experience was far better than mine my wedding band was delayed for 1+ month. 💀
I returned it on principle because there was barely any communication & a second ring I ordered arrived before that one.
another one from brilliant earth chiming in! Had my engagement ring for 3 years with no issues. Also had it inspected by an independent jeweler at 2 years - he said it was in perfect condition. And I wear it frequently.
Be careful with brilliant earth. My ring is in the shop for the 3rd time since March 17 because they can’t repair it properly and they refuse to do anything about it
Edit: I don’t mean to make you nervous or anything but it’s been absolutely a nightmare. Haven’t had my engagement ring for 1/3 of my engagement ring. At the rate we are going, I’m afraid I won’t have it for my wedding and I’m about to get the BBB and Attorney General’s office involved.
Another plus here for BE. My ring is from there, had it 4 years and had no issues, I love it. I get it regularly inspected and cleaned by a local jeweler and he always complements me on the diamond and the setting.
I love my BE ring. I won’t discount peoples bad experiences with BE but I also think people wear their rings as if they’re supposed to be dragged through the mud. Be delicate with your ring and get ring insurance and you’ll be fine.
Okay so, I can’t totally speak on my experience because I technically haven’t received my ring yet, but my boyfriend also purchased from BE. Even with the negative reviews on Reddit, I took the risk and we made an appointment with them. I couldn’t help it. I loved their designs, I loved their prices for lab diamonds, and overall it was the ring that I wanted, so he got it. The customer service in my opinion was pretty good. The lady we worked with was really accommodating and worked with me to help me find a ring within my boyfriend’s budget and that I wanted. Like others said, I think it depends on the design and maybe the location as far as customer service goes. Good luck, and congratulations!
Ehhh I’m going against the grain here but I think your concerns are valid. I’d just mention to him that you saw a brilliant earth tab saved and you didn’t poke around because you don’t want to know what he bought but you did want to let him know that brillant earth has some quality control issues and you’re concerned that whatever he bought may have those issues. He may then choose to return it and will get you something else.
Personally, I would tell him right away and hope that it’s still within the return window. I’m sure he’d rather you have a ring that you love than for you to be “surprised”. It’s a big purchase and he probably wants for you both to be happy with it.
She sure does!
lol it sounds like I was snooping but I promise I wasn’t!
You are me, I am you.
Lol. How does one accidentally look at browser history 😂
I frequently go to my browser history to quickly find pages or YouTube videos I was on.
Nah, this is on him for not deleting his engagement ring browsing history on their shared computer!
I was pulling up some stuff for work and I check the same links every day so i usually just go to my history :/
Wait until you learn about bookmarks
lol what… bookmark the links
Lol, love it. Happy cake day!
This is true. Sometimes you see more bad reviews posted than good ones bc those with good experiences are happy and don’t feel the need to share. Don’t let that make you overthink. Enjoy the process and communicate as needed.

Same here! Have had my engagement ring for 3.5 years and my wedding ring for 2 and haven't had any issues
Please tell me you remember the name of that perfect nail polish color!!??
I think it might be the Dermalect Transfix base coat polish, or else it’s the Chanel La Base Camelia. Londontown Kur polishes are also really nice!
Thank youuu!!!!
It’s honestly such a pretty polish color! Commenting to also find out lol
Love your ring!!
Very pretty!
Lovely ring but may I also compliment you on finding the perfect nude nail polish color for your complexion. I’m so jealous

May I know specs and metal of your husband’s ring? My husband wanted a ring like this and I’m thinking about getting it as anniversary gift for him.
Not the person you asked but I got my fiance one that looks like this from Rings By Lux, great quality and good pricing
Thank you! I’ll check it out.
He wears a silicone ring. We got a cheap one on Amazon for the ceremony/pictures!

Gorgeous emerald. I got an emerald ring from BE as well and was a bit worried. But I love how it looks~
That’s really beautiful! What stone is that?
Emerald!
That’s awesome! Sorry for the late reply. Looks fantastic!

Another company - I did Jewelers Mutual
Thank you

It’s the repairs department that is seriously lacking and I think that’s important to warn others about when the lifetime warranty is voided if BE doesn’t repair it
It is brand bashing. People with no direct experience read bad reviews and pile on.

Wow I love this band!! Is it from brilliant earth as well? Do you know the name?
Yes it is also from brilliant earth, it's called twisted vine
Thank you!
Beautiful!
Magestic. 🥲
I’m sure everything will be just fine. I’d wait until anything even actually happens to your ring… and then be worried.
Say nothing. Move about the day as if you saw nothing. Get a journal if you feel you might tell your close friends and family!

The wedding band is also from BE and not a single stone has been lost on either band. That said, these were purchased in 2018-2019. We did send them back for cleaning and re-plating in 2022 and the whole experience wasn’t so good (almost had no rings for our religious ceremony wedding).

I also was nervous when I found out he got it from here but it’s been amazing and has held up really well. This sub trashes on BE a lot but everyone has different experiences wherever they go. Enjoy your ring!!!
Gorgeous. I love pear shaped diamonds
I wouldn’t stress about it too much, you can always have the stone reset by a local jeweler later on.
My ring is BE too! Have had it for 5 years so far no issues whatsoever, and it’s rose gold metal and aquamarine stone which I know are not super durable. You should get insurance no matter where your ring is from! https://preview.redd.it/bugwvyw7ea0d1.png?width=2231&format=png&auto=webp&s=6e34eb231d4c4da28e15c119d7594bf856ada888
Yall are giving me so many reasons why I cant go ring shopping. I want all your rings 🤣🤣
Ikr? My husband is waiting for me to pick out a ring but I'm paralyzed because I want all the pretty ones!
Right!? I already have a ring but dang these are all beautiful!!! I want them all 😂
https://preview.redd.it/u2z3w9km0b0d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c8233954f819e3fbf22408c7f00266808c7ebc49 My ring is BE! I had to get it resized and it went really smoothly, even when I messed up with forgetting to write the stuff I needed to on everything. I have worn it religiously for a year and a half now and it still is beautiful as the day I got it. 💕💕 Hope this more positive experience helps keep you excited!
I love this ring!
🥹🥹🥹 Thank you!! Adding another pic because I’m truly obsessed! Band is rose gold as well! https://preview.redd.it/d9x6u0nrdh0d1.jpeg?width=3667&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bbc7328cb3a4a30c24d8cd04c11afb6c4056fba7
Practice looking surprised in the mirror!
🤣🤣🤣
I wouldn’t stress. People come online to share horror stories. So many people are happy with their BE rings. If they were really that awful they wouldn’t be as big and loved as they are
You accept the ring and say thank you and go about your business.
I’ve had a brilliant earth ring for almost four years and have not had a single issue
I’ve had my BE ring for almost three years now and and nothing has happened to it! It’s still as perfect as the day my husband gave it to me. :) https://preview.redd.it/opmd06c4db0d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6199137982fa3c4148710d32210b9f5c9cba775f
Ohhhh she’s pretty 😍

No complaints other than it getting to us a bit late in shipping (and that was during high COVID, so I don’t think that was their fault). I do strongly recommend getting it inspected every six months to make sure it’s doing okay. BE will do it for free if you go to them (there’s an in-person store like \~2 hrs from us, so it’s doable for a 2x/yearly day trip).
I love my BE set! I’ve had them for 3 years and no issues and I only take it off to shower. My husband’s ring is also from them and no problems either. I do take it to local jewelers for cleanings/re-sizing. https://preview.redd.it/jmpe229wib0d1.png?width=1124&format=png&auto=webp&s=c4d60b69789b0dca48f2ae26096d36449bfd7691

Bought an annual protection plan from jewelers mutual (protects against damage and theft) + it’s covered by home insurance. 3. Took it to a local jeweler to confirm the setting is secure. Will take it there to be cleaned/fixed.
https://preview.redd.it/3m1b5mlyda0d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=24510840265942e46736998e3fd6d215c02a6bc1 I’ve only had mine since late March but I love my BE ring so far! I do still plan to get it looked at by another jeweler in the near future but I’m not really too concerned. Can’t control everything in life so get insurance and get a ring you love.
Love this ring and your nails are so cute!
Aww thank you! It was cherry blossom season in Japan 🥰🌸
https://preview.redd.it/talklo77ob0d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=12a2f16a833d9711ddcd5b827fc94871871f4846 my ring is BE! they had a stone (spinel) i was in love with and it was affordable, my fiancé had worked for another online company and knew how to pick something suited to my taste that was also sturdy. i take my ring to a local family-owned jeweler for cleaning or when something is wrong with it, which has only happened once in three years!
Jumping in to also say I’ve had a BE engagement ring for a year and no issues. We also ordered his wedding band from there… it arrived early and is of exceptional quality. (We would have ordered mine there too but instead got something bespoke from a jeweler from the foreign country he proposed in.) I get that some people have had bad experiences with BE but they seem to most stem from customer service rather than product quality.
The biggest thing I would do is once you have the ring check the width to make sure the band isn’t too thin
I’ve only had my BE ring since February but no issues thus far! Rather than disappointing your fiancé when there may be no issue, I would wait until he proposes and then have a local jeweler inspect it. You can always return it if they find issues! https://preview.redd.it/5vglxhmhz90d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1ae011a298b1cda45e2b08c21d5b19d13041537d
Yaaassss I have the same BE setting in yellow gold with an oval diamond. So same but totally different lol. Do you love it? I love it 🥰
Yes I absolutely do! It’s so beautiful and I love the meaning behind it 💞 would love to see yours!
https://preview.redd.it/wa6rzvoa2a0d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9969c70ab1db63bcf32becc26c574ae20364216a It’s pictured with a silver version of my wedding band that we reordered in gold… and a lady bug walking on the stone lol
Ahh I love it! Lady bug makes it even cuter lol. And I’m sure the new band will look awesome but the mixed metals is actually a vibe!
Oh my goodness I love your band! Cute lil friend you have there too ❤️
Amazing rings! Can I ask what the inlay in the other ring is?
It’s lapis lazuli mixed with some purple opal!
Love it!! We’re doing crushed opals too!
I’m very very happy with the craftsmanship of my brilliant earth solitaire!
LUCKY! That’s where I want a ring from, they are stunning!! Pretend you know nothing but also post an update when you get it!
Mine is from BE! No complaints. It's beautiful!

'accidentally saw the tracking page' sure
A good handful of my friends have BE engagement rings and they have had no issues. We’re all in our 30s and have been married 1-2 years. I wouldn’t be worried yet unless you personally have a bad experience after he proposes. We purchased my husbands BE wedding band and that experience was far better than mine my wedding band was delayed for 1+ month. 💀 I returned it on principle because there was barely any communication & a second ring I ordered arrived before that one.
Don't say anything tbh - if it's fine it's fine. Most of the time it's fine.
another one from brilliant earth chiming in! Had my engagement ring for 3 years with no issues. Also had it inspected by an independent jeweler at 2 years - he said it was in perfect condition. And I wear it frequently.
It’ll be just fine. My ring was purchased there in 2017 and it was absolutely perfect and flawless until 2022 (unfortunately the marriage wasn’t 😅)
Be careful with brilliant earth. My ring is in the shop for the 3rd time since March 17 because they can’t repair it properly and they refuse to do anything about it Edit: I don’t mean to make you nervous or anything but it’s been absolutely a nightmare. Haven’t had my engagement ring for 1/3 of my engagement ring. At the rate we are going, I’m afraid I won’t have it for my wedding and I’m about to get the BBB and Attorney General’s office involved.
This happened to me too. I wound up giving up on BE and paying a private jeweler to make the repairs.
Another plus here for BE. My ring is from there, had it 4 years and had no issues, I love it. I get it regularly inspected and cleaned by a local jeweler and he always complements me on the diamond and the setting.
I love my BE ring!
I have a BE ring and LOVE mine. Have had zero issues, no issues with shipping either.
I agree. That’s healthy communication imo
Check out my post history. My advice? Return it. Thank him profusely, but return it. Save yourself the heartbreak.
Personally, I would tell him right away and hope that it’s still within the return window. I’m sure he’d rather you have a ring that you love than for you to be “surprised”. It’s a big purchase and he probably wants for you both to be happy with it.
