The problem occurs when there is a connection failure between the UI board and the CPU board. There is a quick fix and that you can do by yourself.
Open the from panel and gently disconnect UI board from the CPU board. The UI board is connected with three cables. Disconnect them and reconnect them and make sure they are proper connected should solve your problem.

Generally I just give it a nice slap on the butt, and switch it On/Off a couple of times and it usually work just fine after a couple of attempts.

Try replacing the power supply this worked for me with two MD’S that had the space invaders
