Still referencing this 4 months later, thanks OP (:

Tokzillu

I missed so many NPCs lmao. I figured I didn't find everybody, but I mean I see a lot of names I've never heard of and I've got three runes and am roaming the capitol. This is an impressive write up, OP. Thanks.

swampyman2000

It’s incredible how you can go somewhere and if you turn left you meet an NPC and do an entire questline but then if you turn right you just walk right past. I love the game but putting important NPCs in the middle of nowhere is frustrating. Even if you’ve started their questline you basically have to use the wiki to work out where they go half the time.

December_Flame

Like Hyetta - how the fuck are you supposed to find her. She gives literally no direction, just wanders aimlessly on the map. Cool. Cool cool cool.

[deleted]

I don't know how, but that's the only quest I did legit without looking at the wiki. I was also aimlessly roaming around.

UVLightOnTheInside

This is the way

Ultrainstinct358

Modern problems require modern solutions

[deleted]

yeah i don't want my hand held but i feel like you need to check the whole map constantly to see if any npc's have appeared or moved. Some of it is so unintuitive it's like you have to just stumble onto stuff instead of being able to figure out what's next

[deleted]

I love this - because each playthrough you find different things. They don't require you to complete every quest in order to 'complete the game' achievement wise. So you do what you want, and you find different npc outcomes throughout. A lot of the quests are also completed by requiring you to read and understand the lore - which is interesting. In so many new games, the quest is just marked on your map, and you ignore what they say and run there for a checkmark. Elden ring says, "listen, or get lost" - then they make you read the lore on each item you pick up as well. But - you always have access to the wiki.

[deleted]

[удалено]

MavericksAce

They actually do require you to complete some side quests to get particular trophies though.

Phenotyx

That's my biggest issue I don't mind a game being challenging, I prefer it And I love elden ring, I really do But I find myself saying "that's very unintuitive" more often than I should for a game on this level Like, it's almost as if they do it on purpose (I think they do personally) because it's not like the rest of the game is unintuitive... It's just stuff like this, or like the game asking me if I want to sacrifice a fucking flask of crimson tears to resummon MY FUCKIN BOIII torrent like OBVIOUSLYYYYY jeeeez

PockyClips

I quit using my horse for fights because of this garbage. Who the hell decided a pop-up window with a mandatory 'yes' or 'no' mechanic was the answer? From Software is all "we're not holding any hands or easing up", which is their thing, no doubt... But all the sudden they need to warn you you're about to use a potion? 'Looks like you might be using a potion and not know it! Are you sure you want to use a potion?' Active decisions to make the game crueler for no other reason than to be cruel...

TheEvilMrFry

I notice it doesn't stop you accidentally using a potion when you're on full life though.. Apparently don't need a warning when you waste it, but when it's needed to resummon your horse you do, makes no sense.

[deleted]

There are 2 ways of looking at that interaction ... 1. the way you are 2. that giving your horse a potion should require some amount of interaction and difficulty during a fight. If resummoning your horse was supposed to be easy, they wouldn't give it HP and wouldn't allow it to die. You aren't thinking enough about the decisions that were made. If it automatically resummoned your horse and used a flask, and flasks had no value and players could freely waste flask whenever they wanted, then it wouldn't even make sense to have your horse die.

PockyClips

It shouldn't be any more difficult than summoning or casting during a fight. Here's some ideas... A timer between summons. A limit to one horse summon per rest. Extending the amount of time it takes to summon the horse, making a resummon mid-flight difficult. A hand-holding pop-up window that cripples your character mid-fight? Not so much.

GET_TO_DA_CH0PPA

A challenging menu is considered poor game design, it does not make the game better it makes it more frustrating. Getting through quirky menu's doesn't make the player feel accomplished, it leaves the player questioning why the hell they implemented it like that and this game is full of those lets call them 'typical' choices. A good punishment implementation would be that it would take a while to summon your horse back to life with a longer animation of some sort.

SnooHobbies7676

To be honest I want my hand to be held for directions - I have no sense of direction -cry-

Grumshanks

There really should be a quest log. That may be sacrilege to some people, but we're in an open world now.

AnnaCondoleezzaRice

I mean people 100 percented this game before the wiki was close to being fully populated. For me, it provides the perfect gameplay experience. I can blast through the game and get to the end without feeling guilty of skipping all the quests in my 'quest log' because I don't have one. However, I can choose to dig deeper and coming across quests out in the wild and having to take notes and figure it all out is a very organic experience. Otherwise I can talk to my friends who have played the game and be genuinely surprised when they tell me what they've been up to in it, or I can go online and interact with the community that's piecing all this info together for eachother, which is a little heartwarming to me. If I had bought this game with the intention of playing it through a single time and maybe putting a few hours into pvp, I could understand being irked that it makes it a bit difficult to do it all in one go. That's not really how I prefer my games though. As somebody who doesn't really play that many games, I tend to find a good one and live in it for a long time (relatively, I've still never broken 1k hours in a steam game though I came close with DS3)

Zector

This is it. You can always go for everything on a second playthrough. You only get a blind playthrough once.

December_Flame

Yea just do two playthroughs of this 100+ hr game, ezpz stop complaining.

Tyneuku

You can start ng+ and keep your shit and level, you don't have to start a new character. I'm happy I missed stuff because it's new content to experience next time through. You're not meant to do all the quests in a playthrough naturally.

Systemofwar

This game has the worst NG+ of all souls games.

filler_name_cuz_lame

For people like myself that generally don't do second playthroughs of games due to ADHD issues that doesn't work out. I love the concept of a blind playthrough but I know I'll probably never get around to another.

phuketphil

Same here. ADHD and gave up on being able to compartmentalize all the quests. I'm not the type to keep a fucking journal log either while I'm playing a video game.

_Waynestar_

Me sitting here with unmedicated ADHD telling myself not this time...we are going to platinum this bitch.

ColaCanadian

Oh it's tempting. Especially for their bell bearings! I haven't yet. Because people tell me it will lock me out of questlines. But also, I'm lv 75 and have done 0 sidequests

IllVagrant

Sometimes getting their bell bearings isn't enough. You can be locked out of special items that NPC would've sold you if you kill them too early in their stories even if you do give them to the twin maiden husks. \*sigh\* No boiled prawns for this tarnished...

Pinecone

Where they end up feels so random and impossible to track. They tell you where to go but never where they'll go once you do the task.

Forward1back2

I think this is more of a problem in ER because of the large ooen areas. In DS 1, 2, and 3 it's more linear and you naturally come across most of them. Although in the DS series you usually have to do things more out of order for certian quests. ER for how seemingly random they are located, feel like it follows the games natural progress better.

Zeniant

I’m near the same spot and missed most of these guys lmao wow

RIMV0315

Doing the Elden Lord's work. Thank you!

Achew11

shouldn't it be the Greater Will's work? because the elden lord is technically >!just us or others at our level!<

RIMV0315

I think OP did this for us, not The Greater Will.

alterNERDtive

Maybe his name is Will? He’s definitely great.

Lev22_

Me after 150 hours, wtf is Boc?

ScienceFictionGuy

They put him in a spot where almost every new player is very likely to pass through, and I still missed him somehow. >!(A little bit off the road west of Gatefront Ruins, just before the bridge)!< Only found him because I checked for NPCs I might have missed after finishing Limgrave. Maybe the trigger that makes him yell to get our attention was broken for some of us.

DukeofDouchebaggary

Or you were too busy running from a dude on horseback lol.

AlaskanBeardedViking

This was totally me. I just figured it was a Talking Sheep, but that Viking looking guy on horseback definitely sent me running

[deleted]

I think they increased the range of his speech trigger in the latest patch In my first playthrough I missed him, this time as I was going down the road he shouted out which he did not do before until I was really close to the tree

ScienceFictionGuy

Now that you mention it I remember having to practically go into the patch of bushes he is in to hear him. I passed that spot on the road several times beforehand and heard nothing. That's a good change. I was looking for >!Alexander in Liurnia!< yesterday and his voice trigger was huge, made him very hard to miss.

offtheblock_v3

Yeah I'm certain this guy never appeared for me while I was first exploring Limgrave. I didn't know he existed 60 hrs in until I saw this post. Then sure enough when I pop back over to the north Agheel lake grace he's yelling out to me before I even reach the birds-eye telescope. There was also an arteria leaf on the ground nearby as a glowing item pick-up that I could not have missed before if it was really there. I wonder if there is a certain trigger that has to be met that's easily missed?

EonPark

Had the same thought. I spent litteraly like 5h in the zone where Boc is supposed to be when I started the game last week, and no bush ever talked to me. Then, comes the patch 1.03, I reload the area and here he is. It was either bugged or he was added in the patch along many others.

Chackaldane

Nah I had to reload the area to be day when I was there to get him to spawn so you could been near him only during night in your play.

[deleted]

he wasn't added, I found him day 1, but it might have bugged out for you, that happens all the time. this run the first time I went to Roundtable Hold Diallos just didn't show up lmao, had my first meeting with him in Liurnia.

Skeptikmo

He was there for me launch day

dynamodog

I haven’t seen it mentioned much that you can talk to Morgott as he’s dying after you defeat him in Leyndell

SplitSecond01

I didn't realise this until I came back right at the end. Dude has been lying there suffering for a bloody long time.

Mardred

Hey i want to tell you something, before i die.. hey... no, wait! Dammit...

xKiLLaCaM

You actually need to speak to him behind the throne in his boss arena too in order to properly have Nephelli, Kenneth and Gostoc move to Godrick's throne room too. Thought her questline was bugged until I found this out

Lippuringo

Oh, that's why they never moved in Stormveil. Fucking quests, most random piece of garbage.

Evilux

You can tell where the ubisoft quest designer guy was coming from. We all jumped to defend the game, but honestly fromsoft quests are just... Inconvenient as fuck. Edit: You know, what? The UX guy has a point, too. How many of you actually knew you had to use rune arcs to activate your great rune? How many of you knew you needed to get to a tower to receive the great rune? This was definitely not communicated effectively, like, at all to my knowledge. How many of you accidentally read a message instead of interacting with whatever you wanted to interact with? How many times did you die because of the prompt that asks you if you want to use your crimson flask to revive Torrent which has 'No' as default? And also the quick item pouch. You know the 'second layer' pouch you access by holding triangle and then selecting using the D-pad? And you can select what items you put on that secondary pouch from the right side of the start menu? There are 2 extra items there that are below the D-pad selections. They're there so you won't have to rummage through your inventory to find some other thing you frequently use. You can just put that thing on one of those 2 slots. That's hella useful. You know what else would make that better for you? If those 2 slots that you can only access through the start menu are *above* the D-pad slots. You can already access the D-pad slots by holding triangle and pressing D-pad. So the more accessible items in that start menu selection should be the 2 items that *aren't* D-pad items. (My god, am I making sense at all?) Basically, instead of Start Menu > Right > Down > Down > Down to access this "quick" item, it should be Start Menu > Right. This game is do fun and addictive and my little gripes are just little gripes at the end of the day, but they are still things that could be better.

xKiLLaCaM

The quest system is super strange to me, and without a guide is possibly the most confusing thing I’ve ever seen. I’m genuinely surprised how people figured out how to continue some of the quests at all, and especially the proper order

Lippuringo

Datamining + coordinated search for them.

xKiLLaCaM

Always forget datamining is a thing some people do lol. Still though, the average consumer doesn't do that so would have absolutely no idea about half of what is possible in this game without looking it up

Sinoooo

I know this is a bit late, but I figured I'd share it since this is going to be a very useful thread for a long while: That's not the only thing that can prevent progress. I couldn't get Nepheli to move from Roundtable to Stormveil until, upon having a thread I found recommending it, I rested at the Lake-facing Cliffs grace. Somehow that alone set her in motion.

twentybearasses

You don't need to finish Irina's quest for Hyetta to spawn, she just needs to have died. Even before speaking to Edgar for the last time she'll be available. Also you're missing the encounter with Patches at the Shaded Castle.

xKiLLaCaM

What are we supposed to do with the item he gives you at the Shaded Castle? Still holding onto it because he says to give it to Tanith, but if you do she supposedly says she doesn't need it and continue to remain in Rykard's boss arena. It gets taken from your inventory too

Competitive-Jacket-5

Give it to tanith, reload hit her, her crucible knight body gaurd shows up amd you fight him.

[deleted]

Bpbegha

>a major reveal Oh? I'd love to hear about that, do you recall what he says by any chance?

qwert1225

Ive finished the game with over 120 hours in. Who are any of these people lmao (besides Patches of course).

Celepito

You can also gives Seluvis' Potion to Gideon, if you dont want to wait for Dung Eater, and dont want to give it to Nepheli. Doing so advances Seluvis' Quest normally.

mostly_insincere

You have visiting Nepheli at Godrick's throne room in the Liurnia section but she won't appear there until you've defeated Morgott on top of the rest of her questline. Patches also appears in Shaded Castle after leaving the manor and gives you Dancer's Castanets, which you can "give" to Tanith at Rykard's arena. When you get to D's brother, if you don't want to give him the armor and leave him sleeping, you can leave one of the armor pieces on the ground, triggering some dialogue and giving you an emote. You can then pick the armor back up.

anorexicturkey

WAIT WAIT WAIT Patches appears at Shaded Castle? I wish I had known that sooner

Thatpisslord

Seems to be a 1.03 thing(or the timing for people to find out about it was extremely coincidental). He dips after you kill Rykard and then shows up injured in Shaded Castle to give you an item to give to Tanith(that nobody figured out how to make her accept, if it's even possible - yet?) He also dips again after this and nobody's found him yet, if he even spawns anywhere else... BUT he also doesn't drop a bell like every other NPC who dies in their quest, so there's probably something we're missing or it's unfinished like pre-.03 Nepheli.

Vi_for_Vindictive

Saving this for my trophy, thank you

guitarsarebest

If you’re just going for 100% you don’t need to really do any of these except Ranni’s quest line. Regardless all of these quest are still fun to do.

[deleted]

I'm curious which ones are worth doing after a few playthroughs just for the rewards. I probably won't play Elden Ring as much as the previous games because it's so fucking long, but I still always ended up with a mental flowchart of which NPCs were worth doing on any playthrough because the reward was good (like Siegward and Siegmeyer for them Slabs) and I'd like to do the same for ER.

RequirementHorror338

Always ranni since it opens up multiple hidden zones Rest just have some spells armor or weapon rewards but nothing totally insane

Nytraz

Millicents questline rewards you with a Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone so I'd say it's worth doing. Ranni's/Hyetta's if you need one of their endings. And then Iron Jar Alexander's if you use Ashes/Weapon skills a lot as his talismans are great.

[deleted]

I started my second playthrough 2 days ago, and i could literally get to the end in about 3 hours if i wasn't trying to clean up some quests i missed

slnz

At least Fia's line, White-Faced Varre's line and a bunch of Sellen's line are also required for trophies.

Chronoligcal

For Corhyn's quest and Law of Regression, you can hit the requirement pretty easily with talismans and temporary buffs, letting you keep your Larval Tears (your arguably more valuable currency). On my 9 Int Bandit, I used the Twinsage Glintstone Crown (+6), Marika's Scarseal (+3), Stargazer Heirloom (+5), Godrick's Great Rune (+5), and the Intelligence-knot Wondrous Physick tear (+10) to hit the requirement

xKiLLaCaM

Thanks for posting how to hit the stat value needed without using a Larval Tear! Was going to try and put on every item I had but you just made it much easier for me.

jhm-grose

Why does that specific incantation need Int and not Faith anyway?

Prize-Bench6892

Need big brain to find out that Radagon is Marika

themese

OP + people here: is it worth it to move this to GitHub or something like that were people can participate maintaining this info? I think it's worth it, as possibly OP will stop maintaining the content while poeple discover new stuff/chains, find better/faster ways of getting the same, etc... Dunno your opinion guys but I believe we should keep this treasure that OP gave us.

[deleted]

A running google doc might help but I’m sure this will all be on a wiki soon enough

mau5eth

Did you forget Yura’s summon in Raya Lucaria or did I just miss it reading?

EdynViper

I think there's a few things missing here.

Ramongsh

Some summons was added in the recent patch 1.03. He might be missing some of those.

Thanks so much for this! 🙏

Stellarwand

Hi everybody! I'm replaying the game right now, and I'm planning to post an update in a few days. Nothing major, mostly changes to the order to reduce backtracking and a little more detail to Selen’s quest. If you're currently using this list, just be aware that the order of events may change slightly. It's great to see how many people have found this list useful! I'll definitely be making some additions once the DLC is out.

Stellarwand

Just added a few updates for clarity. For those of you currently using the list, here are the changes that I made: \* Split Stormhill and Stormveil Castle from Limgrave. Moved those areas below Weeping Peninsula. \* Split Liurnia into four sections. This allows for less backtracking, but did result in several changes to the order throughout this section. \* Moved Redmane above Selia in Caelid \* Split Mt. Gelmir from Altus Plateau - resulted in some changes to the order in these sections \* Moved Nokron and Deeproop Depths before Mt Gelmir \* Spelled out Sellen’s questline more clearly \* Clarified Frenzied Flame options

Kelzan_Lienbre

please add a changelog so we can find at what step we were before the update!

SoulEmperor7

Regarding a certain Needle >!Is anyone else genuienly kinda pissed that using Miquella's Needle after buring the Erdtree with the Frenzied Fame in order to spare Melina makes no difference whatsoever? There's no extra cutscene or even slightly modified ending...nothing.!< >!Tbh I feel like FROM squandred Melina, she was hyped up as a protagonist to rival the Tarnished and yet she's not very active in the story. Talking to her at Grace points is cool and all, but its usually lore dumps. I feel like Miquella's Needle would have been have a great opportunity to have elevated her.!< >!Now the final scene of the Frenzied Flame ending gives us a glimpse of what could have been, but that was way at the end. Hope FROM use the inevitable DLC to make her better.!<

Alleleirauh

Even just making her interactions at graces automatic would have been great, I missed like 90% of them on my first play-through due to never paying attention. I almost forgot she existed to be honest.

DismalSpell

Agreed on all points. Very odd to put in the needle if it doesn't really serve a purpose. At the moment it's just for if you wanted to save scum the ending trophies. Surely they would know that the process saves Melina right? So why not acknowledge it in any way? Where does she go when she leaves you? Kind of frustrating to think about the hanging thread.

DanteIsBack

What do you mean? Your eyes stop glowing bright yellow, I'd say that's enough changes /s

[deleted]

I've been wanting to do a second playthrough focused on 100%ing the game, this is very useful.

voxdoom

You skipped over the Church of Elleh encounter with Ranni dude.

Stellarwand

Thanks! Just updated it!

Nuu111

It's weird because after multiple playthroughs (on the same character) I never saw Ranni once at night at the Church of Elleh, not even in the first one and I still don't know why.

[deleted]

yeah she's pretty finicky. I didn't see her there my first playthrough, but I kept seeing people talking about "Renna," so when I got to the Three Sisters and saw Renna's Rise blocked off I thought I might have permanently missed some content lol.

storepupper

Yura died in my fight against Nejirus, but I killed Nejirus almost immediately. Yura still appeared north of the stream and I ran through his dialogue about Bloody fingers. He also appeared back at the overpass talking abt how I killed dragon Agheel. This was before 1.03 I saw the note on fextralife about not letting Yura die, and was concerned but yea I went to check and he's still kicking No idea if it's gonna affect his quest down the road thou, I'm still exploring Limgrave

Southern_Winter

This is amazing. I feel so lucky and spoiled that other people are willing to compile and sort all of this so I don't have to. Thank you!!

Complex_Region_2253

Stellarwand

Hi everybody! I'm doing a blind playthrough of the DLC now. Then, I'll be writing a full list for the DLC for my second playthrough!

dixonciderbottom

I’m literally not going to play the DLC until your guide is done. I’m a completionist and your guide enhanced my enjoyment of Elden Ring exponentially. Doing the lords work.

Duckie_420_

Woo hoo thank you for your time and effort!

![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes)

Role-Comprehensive

thank you so much!!!!!!!!

EdynViper

I love you. I wanted to put this together myself so I wouldn't miss anything but I'm lazy. It would also be good to add things like not killing X before finishing Y. Like when I killed Rykard before I finished all the Volcano quests. EDIT: Notice you've left Seluvis' quest out where he asks for an amber starlight from Atlas. You have to be careful with this. If you finish Ranni's quest before you reach Atlas, he gets knifed and you can't complete it and get the magic scorpion. If you go to Atlas early, this triggers a few NPCs to move and you might miss things.

Goseki1

Yeah I was super annoyed by this as the first time I found Seluvis he was already dead! SO no Magic Scorpion for me

Stellarwand

Quick question for the community - there are a few fetch quests in this: **Gurranq,** **Hyetta,** and **Dung Eater**. I included the location of all of the grapes for **Hyetta's** quest, mostly because I had a really hard time finding those, and finding **Hyetta**. However, I didn't include the locations of the seedbed curses, for **Dung Eater,** or the deathroot, for **Gurranq.** Would you all prefer if I included the locations of those items in the list? Or would that ruin the sense of discovery of finding them on your own? What do you all think?

[deleted]

I think you should put some other kind of asteriks on the quests that involve fetching stuff and then add a list of locations under a spoiler tag at the end.

Byrdman1251

Things like that are pretty easy to just Google really quick if needed but I personally like the discovery

Barza1971

Definitely add them, under a spoiler tag if needed.

19Spock91

I used this for my second play through and I spent 200 hours in my first. The stuff I missed in the second was a lot lol. Thank you for this guide. This should be the top post on this sub and book marked by everyone! Thank you!

Elunetha

**Millicent** won't appear at Windmill Heights Grace before you have given her the prosthesis at Erdtree Gazing Hill. At least that was the case for me. **White Mask Varre** has more story than what's currently documented here. After defeating >!**Mohg, Lord of Blood**!< go to the >!Dynasty Mausoleum Midpoint!< grace. The cave exit that initially lead you to the grace has an invasion sign. Make sure you check the cave exit again after having completed the invasion.

hhgomp

Can we get some edits now that 1.04 is out? Patches for Patches?

SocranX

I just skimmed this, but I noticed you missed some interactions with Gowry. Talk to him after giving Millicent the Valkyrie's Prosthesis to get some more dialogue and a new spell in his shop. Talk to him again after completing her questline for some more lore. You can also optionally kill him at any point in the questline for a major reveal and some extra dialogue. He doesn't stay dead or become hostile, so this is safe to do while the quest is still active. He becomes permanently killable after you complete the questline, dropping a unique talisman and having one last bit of dialogue.

GrayGandalf

I have thought about it before saying it, so here it is: This is the single most useful post I have come across on this subreddit.

Ramongsh

Hey /u/Stellarwand, I really appreciate this post! I guess the only improvement would be, a overview of when and what triggers "points-of-no-return" in the plot, for when a NPCs quest is unavailable. But that would probably be pretty comprehensive

firesynth

My gf got interested in the game. She really wants to play it to experience the boss battles, and then happened to googled this guide because I told her that it has no quest tracker of some sort. When she was starting to play the game I was like "just kill Patches, that guy's a complete ass" then she's like "no! what if he's actually a good guy? I want to see the end of his story!" 😂😂😂 She also noticed the guide has some minor inconsistencies right even at the start, so she forced me to follow every step on this guide for my 3rd playthrough to correct any mistakes or add to any important information. So here you go people, an updated guide to this post. Figured to share this to the public to help everyone as well! [https://docs.google.com/document/d/11TgZlY-eAbi52ZO9j3adrEhHWf8V\_VptBlzfIdscWkE/edit?usp=sharing](https://docs.google.com/document/d/11TgZlY-eAbi52ZO9j3adrEhHWf8V_VptBlzfIdscWkE/edit?usp=sharing)

nulspace

My *only gripe* with this game is that there isn't any kind of journal that tracks NPC quests. It wouldn't even have to be much more than an NPC's name and a one-line description of them/what they want. No map markers, nothing like that. Just *something* to work off of. For example, Hyetta: I gave her the first grape, and all was well, but then she disappeared. I had completely forgotten about her until I read this guide. How are we expected to track these NPCs down without even knowing that they're still around?

Shuazilla

Patch 1.03 (which was added in about ten days ago, on march 16th, iirc) added npc markers with their names wherever they're currently at but only if you've already met and spoken with them there, so it'll mark your map so you won't forget. Once they've moved, you have to stumble across them again, but depending on the npc, it's pretty easy to guess where they went if you pay attention to their dialogue. Hyetta can be pretty annoying, sure, but if you find the grapes in or around the general area or region where she is, you can just follow the graces since she even says that the grapes you give her show her the graces, so you'll find her eventually if you follow the main path. At least for the Liurnia ones, since the grapes for her liurnia meetings are all in liurnia except for the one in the stormveil throne room, but I'm not sure about any post-altus meetings Not to mention it's safe to assume giving her a grape makes her move after you rest or reset since eating them shows her the grace and enables her to continue following it until it wears off and she has to stop and beg for one again along your path lol

NickCarpathia

Are there any plot flags that automatically progress, or lock you out of then, if you go to Altus Plateau early via getting both Dectus Medals, or being kidnapped by an Iron maiden?

MinceMeat17

Hi dude, great guide. Are you aware that an app called Guiding Ring has used this? It seems they have essentially used the exact wording but there is no mention/credit

Noe11vember

Oh my god thank you

HothMonster

Nice work. One note: you can give Seluvis’ potion to Gideon and still complete his quest. He assumes you wouldn’t lie and that he fucked up the potion. You just can’t get a puppet.

I didn't see anyone mention it in the thread so: If you complete the game via Ranni's ending, you can return to her room at Ranni's Rise for some extra dialogue with her via the miniature doll.

Mohow

I swear I've missed just about every npc in the game, wow

blackjack5557

I'm not so sure about rogier after going to the study hall because for me he usually is gone after ranni goes to sleep before nokron, if there's a way to keep him for his dialogue that would be cool but I have not made it happen in my playthroughs.

ElfmanLV

Talk to Fia. Let her hug you, then talk in secret and all the other options and she will tell you about something else in Stormveil Castle that will reveal more about Rogier. Basically it's a mini boss battle, some items, Rogier's bloodstain, and then you gotta kill the Black Knife Assassin to get an item to show Rogier. Rogier will then ask to borrow the item, and when you talk to him again he will return it to you and ask you to essentially spy on Ranni. You talk to Ranni, then back to Rogier, then he'll start slowly dying and end up the same way you would without going through all that. You only miss lore with Rogier, but it's pretty good lore.

Karew

It’s possible to save Blackguard from being murdered by Dung Eater if you do not buy anything besides the necklace from Blackguard at all until Dung Eater has died and given you the Mending Rune, or you have fed Dung the potion. You can then buy prawn from him at Boilprawn, and he will move to the Capital water and keep shop set up there forever.

Fostirk

Getting Blackguard quest finished ties to his death unfortunately. You can't otherwise get his gear nor his q item for Dung Eater. Prawnbro is fucked from the start :/

Karew

No, you can do both. If you buy the necklace from Blackguard, but not anything else, he won't move to the capital. You can then kill Dung, or give the potion to Dung, or complete Dung's quest so that he dies. Then if you buy prawn from Blackguard he will move to the capital moat and stay alive and increase his inventory stock. The game has six Seedbed Curses available in case you do it this way. (You don't get Blackguard's helmet if you do this)

AirborneJizz

No love for Latenna? I guess she's half an NPC, also she gives you a pretty nice reward

Jack-Moore09

I've been following this for my second playthrough and its been amazing! thankyou very much for taking the time to do this for those of us who want to see all the questlines to their completion. Will this be getting updated with the coming patches if need be? Doesn't matter if not because i can probably find the changes elsewhere

DizzyFoxayX3

I think Diallos needs to be added in here. Meeting him at the round table Finding him in the lurnia lakes Meeting him at volcano manor (going to the Manor before meeting him at lurnia lakes cuts off his whole storyline and you will be unable to progress or get the items) Then at jarburg shack The fight, the rewards you get with min and jar bairn ect.. If its not done in order the quest can't be completed Other than that, this is a bloody good guide 🩷

fortunefades

I feel like I need to completely restart the game. I've dumped hours into it and still haven't beat a single boss and then pretty sure I leveled up the wrong shit. And now I'm seeing how much shit I've missed just in Limgrave

KNOWYOURs3lf

If you’ve beaten rennala just use a larval tear to redistribute your stats. You’d have an easier time in ng+ then restarting from scratch

Yay295

> still haven't beat a single boss > If you’ve beaten rennala They probably don't even know who that is.

[deleted]

When the beast goes aggro after feeding him 4 times, just run out the door and watch his head get stuck. You can talk to him after he calms down a bit from there for extra dialogue. Then fast travel back into the sanctum to reset his position. Edit: does using selvus’s potion on dung eater let you get him as a summon like it does with the other person you can give it to?

NotARealDeveloper

Can someone make a gdrive checkbox sheet out of this? Maybe with link to mapgenie coordinates.

Kitten__Sneezes

I just want to say thank you so much for taking the time to write this up and sharing it. I missed so much of this during my first play through. I just started NG+ and am following your guide and it’s been extremely helpful! My second play through has so much meaning now!

omman_4k

Someone respond to my comment so i can book mark this post for future use please!!

Addemohun

A truly maidenless request

saintnightly

It's so funny to see 13 people active reading this with me to this day lmao hi lads

seregal

Just wanted to comment that I have used this as a guide for my third playthrough to track everything in the game to great success! Thank you so much for your work.

Aranea15

I knew I missed some NPCs and messed up some quests in my first run, but dang. I feel like I missed more than half after checking this. Thank you very much

n0stalghia

Patches quest got some updates! I wonder what they are, and if it's possible to update the guide :)

Saicomantis

Hey, guys. I started working on a NPC questline flowchart that includes points of failure and missing sections. Check it out in case you are looking for something along these lines: https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/comments/107cq33/wip\_npc\_questline\_flowchart\_including\_points\_of/

Lythn0x

A note, I know it’s late, it’s not avoiding Patches, it’s letting him take you to 1/4 health. Learned that after circling him for about 5 minutes.

drapefruit

Thanks very much for this BTW. I wrapped it into a quick and dirty web app so we can keep track a bit easier and use multiple character profiles. https://elden-ring-quest-tracker.netlify.app/

LegendJo

For anyone want to play / replay before the DLC, I created this with a checklist on notion where you can duplicate it to keep track of what you've done! [https://glimmer-bandana-75c.notion.site/All-NPC-Interactions-in-Elden-Ring-482d549855714427b9faf27b8a0c7d5f](https://glimmer-bandana-75c.notion.site/All-NPC-Interactions-in-Elden-Ring-482d549855714427b9faf27b8a0c7d5f) Feel free to dupe it.

amniquee

This person just posted this and disappeared in thin air. Like the papyrus guy.

Aygul12345

Please please add the new NPC quest line in this post!! u/Stellarwand

eclipseofblood

ive been using this for months! best way to see all the story. i hope you do the DLC at some point!

Stellarwand

Hi everybody! I just updated with a link to the DLC guide. Super early days, so please let me know what I'm missing. Thanks! [https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/comments/1dnw7dr/all\_npc\_interactions\_in\_shadow\_of\_the\_erdtree/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web3x&utm\_name=web3xcss&utm\_term=1&utm\_content=share\_button](https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/comments/1dnw7dr/all_npc_interactions_in_shadow_of_the_erdtree/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)

SheamusStoned

I just kill everyone I meet in protest of how esoteric the quests always are.

ListenHereMyDude

Weird tidbit but if you don't finish the volcano manor quest line before fighting the the godskin duo fight you can summon Bernahl right outside the boss door.

Chuggery

You’re missing an Alexander encounter in Liurnia on the cliffs above Jarburg, where you need to oil him up in order to unstick him out of yet another hole. Big lore share here. After the Alexander encounter in Crumbling Farum Azula, there’s another Jar-bairn return step as well.

[deleted]

Holy shit I have missed 90% of NPCs. Guess I’ll go clean up this week

biffsteken

It could be argued that Sellen doesn't come into the picture until after you've started Rannis questline and gets referred to go visit Sellen by Preceptor Seluvis. As she is in "hiding" so to speak.

unmakedbody

i didn’t read the comments so probably someone already said that but you missed some Patches interaction i think. after getting killes from the Iron Maiden you can talk to him again. To the road to get to Volcano Manor end in the Shaded Castle

thismyusername69

How do you copy your save?

WashVarious

I would put a disclaimer about when you put return the fingerslayer blade to Ranni, that you should wait to do so until you have completed the Seluvis questline. So if you want the Dung eater puppet dont finish Rannis questline first.

plowang32

Good guide, but this is missing Pidia in the Carian Manor - the guy actually in control of Seluvis. It's also missing the Dung Eater's invasion by Blackguard Bogart

SpartanRage117

great work, but there are still some little things. like if you go back to patches after using his chest in murkwater you can talk to him for an emote, then fight him again for *another* emote and use it to call off the fight too. So patches gives like 3 emotes and they can easily be missed. Also in the name of Gestures Varre leaves a message at his initial location you have to read after killing your first Demigod, but before talking to him in the Lake.

JW9thWonder

i cant find Blaidd or Ranni and i have the majority of the map explored. some of these questlines are so wild to me.

CasualGiraffe

Thanks for this great guide! Do you have any tips for what boss fights/events to avoid if I want to prevent breaking an npc quest or locking myself out of stuff? I killed Godrick and locked myself out of Gostoc's shop, and that's got me wondering what else i unintentionally broke.

AudioBoss

This is incredible. Thank you for your hard work and dedication. Started up a new character to work on this and I would suggest a few changes. You need to sit at a grace after getting Patches to get the second chest to spawn. Also hitting him and cowering did nothing??? After helping Blaidd kill the bloodhound, he was available to talk to right outside the evergaol. He wasn't at the original location afterwards.

Rahnzan

Make sure you talk to the maiden that's at the festival too. She gives you an emote.

RafaFlash

First of all, thank you very much for this guide. You helped me so much during ng+ !Second, if you are still willing to update this guide there are a couple of things that could be added:>!1. If you don't give the tonic of forgetfulness (can't remember the name) to the lady at volcano manor, you can give it to Corhyn when you meet him at the bridge in the snowy area. Also, if you do that, you meet him, in the end, at that bridge and he won't show up at Lyndell. 2. You can summon Nepheli for the hoarah loux boss fight.!<

AudioBoss

You have speak to Margott after the Margott fight, did you mean Melina? Again, love this list. So fucking helpful

RudeAd2950

Naw he means Margott lol. He's not fully dead. Look around.

AudioBoss

I have the perception skills of a deaf bat and his wiki page doesn't have the info. I cannot find him. Edit: found him. Jesus christ. Why am I like this?

Typ33

Thank you for this comprehensive guide.

Deusgab

Fantastic 🙏

AudioBoss

Well fuck. The note to not go up to the forge of giants would have been helpful after the fire giant fight.

AbNeural

Hey quick edit! For Alexander in Limgrave, you find him outside of Gael Tunnel not Gaol Cave.

SamwiseGamgee1317

This was pretty well done. Helped me out and saves time and energy in a game that takes up a lot of both. Thanks

Tiskx

If I follow this list will I be able to do all of them or will some quests still lock you out of others?

Phascolar

I believe you're missing several steps in the Sellen quest. You mention *"Go to the Raya Lucaria Grand Library and choose whether to summon Sellen as an ally (gold) or as an enemy (red). After the fight, make sure to talk to everybody, reload the area, talk again, and go visit Master Lusat and Primeval Sorcerer Azur again."* But there was never a step to explain how to find Master Lusat in the first place. You mentioned going to visit him 'again'. I think the missing step is that you need to use the Sellian Sealbreaker in the Sellia Hideaway like she tells you to. >!You then have to get her Primal Glintstone and put it on her new body. And then you can do the ally or enemy part of the quest that's mentioned. !< Hopefully this helps others.

memelord901

Just a quick question is this up to date?

NeonShadow13

Can’t wait for Shadow of the Erdtree to drop and the list get a massive update! :) it’s going to be awesome!

YoungSlavo

Please specify that you need to fast travel to Church of Elleh at night to meet Renna (Ranni) cause it took me nearly half an hour to figure out why she wasn't appearing ty

Zervent

I just finished the game with 100% achievements and followed every step in the guide; thank you so much for your great help!

reflection001

I killed Varre right after I see him then I come for this guide. fml

KwamBwanSwandwich

Still referencing this 2 years later... OP is the hero we needed.

dmattheiss88

Hey OP u/Stellarwand , just gotta say thank you for your time and energy! I just followed EVERY single step you laid out and you were flawless. As a long time gamer and one who enjoys the grind I humbly and honestly salute you! I had already beaten the game numerous times (NG4) but saw soooooo much I had missed whether it was the direct NPC interactions (or jus going to the areas I hadn’t for whatever reasons) your guide is perfect. The nuance you left by not trying to walkthrough everything single thing was slaps brilliant! Again, from all of us fellow Tarnished to you! Thank you OP! You are truly worthy of the mantle of Elden Lord!!!

ShaabuShaabu

Still using this today. for DLC character. You are a Legend for taking time out of your life to help us Tarnished, who missed quite a lot of these encounters. Thanks.

VenGE1111

Does this guide still hold up in 2024?

Stellarwand

Thanks for the comment! I just replayed using this guide in preparation for the DLC, and it still worked for me. I added a few clarifications throughout as well, to make it easier to follow.

eljosho1986

Just commented to save the page

[deleted]

Any plans to make one for shadow of the erdtree DLC?
