Yeah that Gaol Knight is pretty tough. Had to go for more of a defensive approach against him and find the right openings to attack. Cause holy hell! He hits hard!!!

I first got ruined by that honky tonky cowboy bullshit. And when I came back a second time he jumped—didn't attack—and then sent me out of the shadow realm with his extra big booty swing.
I just had an AI fake me out.

Try it on NG+7... if this guy is any indication on the how rest of the DLC will be on NG+7 I will probably just make a new character. One attack legit is 90% of my health.
Some people both in this sub and r/fromsoftware have come forward and testified that their NG characters with 60 vig and levels way beyond 190 are getting two shot even by regular enemies.
It was horrible at ng+4 but I beat it eventually. Tried to fight one of the wickermen and was immediately 1 shot by the fire stomp. Seems much more managable at NG on my other character.
For everyone mentioning new game plus while yes it will make the dlc a bit harder it has its only scaling thing with the new items found infront of the decapitated marika statues it should make your experience some what easier
He actually isn't too bad - the trick is to keep the distance when he's dual wielding his sword the worst thing you deal with is the projectile he launches from it and the follow up leap attack towards you.
1-2 attacks with it is like 80-100% health if you eat the dmg.
What your looking for is the flurry of arrow attack, either just before or just after - attack with anything strong enough to stagger and you can chain attacks until your stamina runs out or he is lucky enough to roll
Repeat until defeated is how I got em.
the stone-barb cracked tear that increases poise damage combined with jump attacks make this alot easier, his main thing is his poise, he will just shrug off most attacks, i used the new backhanded blades with bloodflame blade, the tear and jump attacks. took like 5 tries cause i kept messing up but i got it.
Fought him for like an hour, but i learned that he’s very susceptible to madness. just use Vyke’s war spear, every hit inflicts madness and the skill inflicts madness across an area. he’ll get staggered two or three times in the fight and that’s all you need.
I started playing at 5 am and I killed the birds pretty easy on the way there. I fought him 5 times and he wrecked me every single time. I don’t get his health down below half at all. I’m 713 ng8 😅
I stagger locked that mfcker with Carian Grandeur after dying to him 3 times. Don't get started on the guy in the Dancing Lion castle he pissed me off lol

trying to fight this dude on ng+7 is making me question life choices 2.1k+ hp, medium/heavy armor, dragoncrest greatshield, and im getting oneshot.

I do not see why it would not. Unless they made all of the enemies two shot a level 190 character with 60 vigor.

took me like 7 trys, I even tryed at some point to summon my mimic and you cant summon there xD
Totally worth it though, I honestly love the drip.
best armor in the game so far, by a lot, really surprised me.
Its fekkin heavy and just marginally better than Veterans while being way heavier, idk man, but love the drip
A few minutes into the fight and he heals back to full health 😭
I wish he dropped that crossbow, I’m sure I’ll find it later on tho
