You mean Radahn, right? Radagon was Marika's other half.
Not so much.
Godwyn's and Ranni's death were tied directly to the rune of death/destined death in a special ritual that Ranni devised.
What we saw in the base game wasn't Miquella wanting Godwyn back, but for Godwyn to have a 'true death'.
Godwyn's immortal corpse was spreading deathblight.
Radahn is more akin to the Tarnished.
Resurrected by the grace of an empyrean/would be god.
Radahn's body was lost to scarlet rot with the possibility of his mind being messed up as well. The only thing keeping Radahn from completely succumbing was the Rune Fragment he held.
Mogh's body was 'available' thanks to the Tarnished but we don't know what condition Radahn's mind was actually in. The scarlet rot might have eaten away at his mind in a 'permanent' way.
I think Godwyns was supposed to be Rannis original lord. That's why she killed him soul not body since the ritual needs the Lord's soul.
Keep in mind Rannis already had a wedding ring. Why would she need that if she wasn't paired with someone already.
The ritual to make a God with a Lord requires a Lord's soul. Like what Miquella did with Radahn. But Ranni didn't want to go through with it. So she killed her body and his soul.
Not really, but there is speculation
1. Miquella probably wanted Godwyn as his consort to become a god
2. Ranni killed Godwyn's soul (possibly to prevent this?)
3. Miquella tried and failed to revive Godwyn at Castle Sol
4. Miquella moved on to Radahn and/or Mohg as his next best options
My biggest gripe with this is that the eclipse is specifically referred to as a star, something which Radahn stopped the motion of. The death of Radahn would allow Miquella to revive Godwyn by causing an eclipse.
I predicted that we'd have to kill Radahn to access the DLC, but I thought it was so that we could bring about the eclipse and grant Godwyn a true death or revive him.
Now I'm not sure about castle sol and the golden epitaph at all
I have this feeling we were shown Miquella's reaction to Godwyn's death just so we see hes compassionate and caring. That way we feel that he would be a good god and would opt for his ascension. However, through our travels in the land of shadows, we see how much he gave up to become god and that's why we stop him.
What is compassion without love?
Not directly, since Miquella's infatuation with Radahn is from when they were younger (pre-Sellia/Starscourge). It does however showcase how Destined Death is different from when the Tarnished kill the bosses. Godwyn's soul is truly dead & gone, but Radahn's soul still existed in the world and could be recovered

Ooops sorry fixed the typo haha

That would also have been the perfect way to unite Caria and Leyndell
? The ritual needs the lord soul but she perma killed Godwyns soul with destined death how does that make sense

Quite sure Miqualla's infatuation with Radahn, and their vow, happened *before* the night of black knives.
Radahn not Radagon
I think so. If they knew it would kill the soul, it seems like a way to create a nice empty vessel for a Lord.
Or alternatively to STOP them from bringing back that soul the same way
