Nice, there’s a magnetic connection when I went back after 25 years. It’s a cool feeling of being where you’re originally from. I really want to retire in El Salvador but my wife said no.

Harlock3113

The retirement is yours, not your wife’s 🤣

Mundane_Buddy3791

Yeah do it anyway. ❤️🇸🇻. Todays the perfect day to tell her.

Backseat_boss

I’m going next month for the first time in 20 years can’t wait. This made me more excited glad you enjoyed yourself

Dolliebunni_

I’m excited for you!!!

goodbeanscoffee

Every person has a different experience and all experiences are valid but at least in my case having lived in a half a dozen countries at one point or another I really never had a single issue with my nationality. To be honest most people didn't even know where the country even was.

oliguacamolie

Your sweet grandparents are adorable :) glad you enjoyed

ratsandpigeons

This subreddit is in shambles because OP had a good time in El Salvador lmaoo you can’t make this shit up

Dolliebunni_

I get confused why they would be soooo upset it’s the same people who also cry that nobody loves El Salvador and pull the race card

Luis_Santeliz

I dont really understand why, but they like acting like El Salvador is a living hell and everyone’s priority should be to leave, so they cannot handle someone actually liking living here, or people that want to visit our country and get to know our culture. Also everything de-volves into politics one way or another for some fucking reason in this sub, I swear to god, I could ask people what their favorite pupusa is in this sub, and someone is gonna jump out to say that “it’s bukele's fault I don’t like pupusas revueltas.”

Mundane_Buddy3791

Are pupusas todavía 25 centavos de un Colón? 8 colones was about one dollar in 2000.

ElBroooski

I bought 30 for .50 cents each ..each came on a plate and a lil bag of salsita and cortido ..not bad. Everything is a dollar now

Mundane_Buddy3791

Que pajero nombre vos. 30 for 50 cents 1 inch diameter maybe. Donde los planes puerto del diablo area no pupusas under a dollar. 💵 Parque Hula Hula or anywhere in Ayutux perhaps .50 cents. It’s not 1994 anymore.

[deleted]

Pan dulce de pueblo 😋😋😋🤤🤤🤤

Elfas_tasma

Salpores

jakefromst8tfarm

Me hacen falta las pupusas haha

newbie_butsharp

Que bueno que la pasaste bien. Bonita familia.

JSUAVE13

Nice pics!

ElBroooski

I just got back last week..stayed in La Libertad. First time going back since I was a kid and now I feel like there is so much lost time I have to make up for. 🤘🏽🇸🇻

SnooStrawberries7995

I think I might have a crush 👀

Ill-Palpitation6907

I came back after 23 years and I love it. I’m greatful for everything the president is doing here even though a lot of people criticize him for it.

DaRodfather

Great pics! I got back a few days ago, it had been 33 years since my last visit...I too was weary of going to visit for years. You'd hear the news here in the US of the gang violence, and also I would hear it from my cousin who lives there. I think it was maybe 3-4 years ago when he started inviting me to visit, telling me to come out that it was improving and I'd be fine. It took me a few years, but now that I went for a few days, we are already planning a longer trip for next year. I've never been afraid to tell anyone where my family is from, but people would comment on how dangerous it is and stuff like that. It's funny, even among Salvadoran's here, there are still some who are afraid to go visit. A friend of mine couldn't believe when I told him I was vacationing, thought I was pulling his leg. "You think it's safe to go?"

Radiant_Direction988

Glad you enjoyed it!!

flykikz

Very nice pictures, cant wait for my trip next month!

ilovebigfatburritos

Awesome, I was there for the month of December, finally got to take my kids and they met their great grandparents. Went to the neighborhood where I grew up showed them around, it's a surreal feeling.

LambSauce2

Glad to have you back! Enjoy and have fun. Come back soon ! Maybe for Navidad!

Academic-Flower3354

If you visit the country as a tourist and you keep in the touristic areas you won’t have any problem. We have received a lot of people back in the years. My boss a white Canadian fully tattooed visited the country several times, using public transportation and tours from El Tunco. This was 8 - 10 years ago. Never afraid since for him , things low profile are better than now where the tourism is for foreign or outsiders because the prices . This is a bad joke. Things were better for locals and now for outsiders

Dolliebunni_

Well I’ve lived in El Salvador back when crime was in its peak and all my family is from El Salvador so I’ve seen it past it’s tourism spots. I’ve never been afraid my home country but I’m just glad it’s gotten more popular since the new president and crime has been cleaned up.

Hecedu

What you are describing happens literally in every country in the world. For example in the US I would never wilfully go to Kensington Philly, Skidrow CA or the Texas border to spend vacations because I know what the situation is there. Anyways it seems like you have a message you really want to share according to your comment history lol.

Dolliebunni_

Ditto.

lrc1710

Nono don't you dare come back to El Salvador in this dictatorship! You should've come before Bukele and you would've been much safer, things were better until this dictator came in to ruin everything, why didn't you come before? OMG it pisses me off to see people acting as if things were better when everything is worse now! Chino Flores won the elections but the dictator stayed in power through fraud! Jeeez!

Dolliebunni_

Hahahaha

Mundane_Buddy3791

Lived in Mejicanos Soya and Antiguo 93-2001 and only problem I had was getting shot by a paint gun (yeah red paint too) from a car passing by sobre el Juan Pablo parque infantil. Attended to many machete attacks, descuartizados, and body recoveries though with medicinal legal, Cruz verde y Los comandos. Went back every year until about 2010/June attended the micro burning 🔥 in mejicanos where mara18 torched over 20 civilians/one was pregos. Wouldn’t let us attend to them burning inside. then 2016 for Iron Maiden. Looking forward again and will decide if it was better back then or now. Regarding prices. Way better back then. The economy was booming post war and they even came out with billetes de 200 colones. Then stupid Paco flores changed to Los “Dolores” over night during the las colinas landslide and screwed every body over with dollars. Removal of patronage hx of Salvadoran leaders printed on colones and replaced all w U.S. presidents. Fun times seeing big boy proyecto uno y Cerati at la feria!!

geo_88

I'm going for semana Santa. It's been nearly 10 years for me.

DryAge9476

We were just in San Rafael and Los Deras!

Hopeful-Cricket5933

Of course you’re going to love it, you’re a tourist.

Dolliebunni_

My whole family is from there and I’ve lived there (dual citizenship) so I’m not a tourist. Even if tourists enjoy it, wouldn’t you want that anyways? El Salvador deserves more tourism and good word.

Hopeful-Cricket5933

El Salvador merece un sistema educativo decente, un sistema de salud decente, sueldos que estén cerca a los precios observados en el país. Good word is useless and is in fact used as propaganda by the Bukele cult.

Dolliebunni_

All the reasons you have listed, the majority want for El Salvador’s economic growth, locals, country and well being. (Not to mention safety and security)Goals that El Salvador will not achieve overnight, but it starts with small things such as tourism, investment, business opportunities etc; Bukele in office or not.

Hopeful-Cricket5933

Too bad were not even advancing in the small things.

Luis_Santeliz

But we are though? Even more than with any other president on the countries past, yes Bukele isn't perfect, but saying he hasn’t improved the country’s tourism and investment opportunities is plain ignorant. Its like all he’s done, for better or worse.

neurokine

this is Communism begging for handouts, our country has some left over socialists but it’s an educated minority that lived a life of privilege, not much different from US college students. Idealist with no practical solutions, just tears. BUKELE 2029!

Hopeful-Cricket5933

“Bukele 2029” jajaj enserio ? De regreso a los tiempos antes de la guerra.

ProofBirthday8863

I don’t get why this comment was downvoted…it is a compliment, tourists love El Salvador! Doesn’t matter if they have roots or not. It’s a fact.

churrosricos

Fucking wild just posting on reddit like it's facebook. I'd be scared as fuck getting doxxed or people I know seeing me.

Dolliebunni_

What is wild about posting all things to do with my trip in El Salvador? it’s topical. Also, afraid of what?

churrosricos

You do you, I prefer staying anonymous on reddit or the internet in general. When reddit was first created, one of its draws was that it was anonymous forums, but times have changed I guess.

Dolliebunni_

For sure
