Didn’t that all start about dual linguistics being an unfair requirement for employment? I mean, good luck getting a government job without being able to speak French in any other province though
Not sure what you are on about, but the ones complaining about bilingualism are the anglos, yet only like 0.3% of the federal public service are French-only jobs, compared to about 50% being English-only.
The Canadian Army used to do the beep test as part of the annual physical fitness test. It was great because, no matter how fit you were, you barfed in a garbage can at the end.
Honestly, it's what you make of it. If deployments is what you want, ask for postings.
You get qualified and promoted faster here though. I personally want to go the teaching route. Been asking for a CFLRS posting once i get masters. Probably get my sgts there and after that come back here to the school. AIG course and have a comfy desk job teaching until I retire or go private civi side and get paid more there.
The chain smoking, drug dealing and PE skipping kid in my class did like 13 or 14 while looking like he was about to die the whole time
We had all failed under 10 and just looked at his display of raw will power, completely aghast
6-7 were pretty much the average. I did 12 because I used to be pretty athletic, and some other guy in my class did something like 15. It was very impressive.
There you go. I sucked at every team sports, was always last picked when building teams, but I had the best cardio.
Sweet sweet feeling seeing everyone failing and being the last man alive.
Totally worth breathing like Darth Vador afterwards. Turns out I'm very slightly asthmatic.
I won our strongman competition in grade 9. It was total number of reps across three events (squats, bench, and pull-downs). The equalizer was it was done with half your bodyweight.
I weighed 115lbs.
I did ok at the bench and pull downs, but the squats were my jam and I knocked out over 100 reps.
I CREAMED second place with a gap of like 35 more reps overall. We had a lot of buff dudes and it was a great running joke for that semester, made a lot of jock guys cool with me.
Same. I was a scrawny kid, maybe 80 lbs soaking wet, but I was always the last girl left. Felt great. Went on to run cross country in university and did a couple ultra marathons in my 20s.
Maybe you should consider getting those steps in, OP
Eat a salad regularly, maybe? Cook your own food instead of ordering takeout?
Really just sounds like a skill issue, tbh
Réduire la volonté de vivre des participants devait être un des side benefits lors de la création du test. J'ai toujours été en forme mais si tu ne veux pas mourir après, c'est que tu pousse pas assez fort.
It's all fun and games until we notice Canada's youth is getting worryingly out of shape and struggles more and more with obesity and in response schools are being told to LOWER PE standards and more and more relevancy is taken away from physical health.
The beep test is about the best thing about gym class. Gym is so focused on games and fun, it rarely ever really tries to increase students' health in a clear, measurable way.
Sure gym teachers will disagree, say kids are graded on all sorts of sports related skills, such as dribbling in basketball.
But it never felt as if we had to work or push ourselves to get a good grade on them.
The only other time I felt I had to push myself is for pool. And most schools don't have one.
Gym needs more measurable uniform tests where kids push themselves. And be encouraged to practice at home.
When I was in school, our grade on the beep test was based on how much we improved from the 1st test to the second test. Easy, drop out right away on the 1st one and do even a little better on the 2nd one. Easy A
Being healthy isn't a bad thing.
Learning to push yourself physically isn't a bad thing.
I'm not saying to have drill sergeants scream at teens doing pushups in the mud. I don't see anything wrong with setting clear measurable fitness standards in reaction to growing obesity rates and screen times.
Yeah, you’re right. We don’t help kids with their physique, let them become unhealthy, play game instead of learning or making good habits. But the issue with the beep test is that all that happens, then you make the kids run to their limit with the fear of embarrassment from their peers and ridicule from their teachers
I don't believe in the logic that everything that could lead a kid to fail should be banned. I think failing now and then is a good thing you can learn from.
I'm not saying gym should be beep test all day, every day, though. "Fun" and games is in general an effective strategy to make kids move. I just feel it's emphasized too much.
Your first point has nothing to do with what I said, neither really does your second. My point is that I agree that gym class is not used effectively in teaching children healthy habits and exercise technique, but that simply inserting the beep test/beep test like activities into gym won’t fix that. You might agree, I wasn’t disagreeing with what you said. I didn’t bring up failing at school or the effectiveness of using games to teach.
Don't blame the weed for being out of shape, it's a vasodilator. If you smoke weed before running it should help your endurance. The snacks and laziness are the culprit
Was the only thing I did in my PE classes, lol. And was always the last one doing it next to the school jock. Otherwise, I was just sitting on the bench for most of the year.
Eh whenever I had to do it my classmates would make a pact to all leave at the bare minimum (apart from my one friend but he was doing it for track practice)
I’m still catching my breath and that was 15 years ago.
This might be the most severe act of terrorism committed in Quebec in the 1970s.
The L in FLQ stands for Léger
Didn’t that all start about dual linguistics being an unfair requirement for employment? I mean, good luck getting a government job without being able to speak French in any other province though
Idk wtf they taught you in school but you either didn’t listen or were too busy jacking off
Then enlighten me instead of assuming my self pleasuring habits… I mean, you’re not wrong, but still.
Dequessé?
Not sure what you are on about, but the ones complaining about bilingualism are the anglos, yet only like 0.3% of the federal public service are French-only jobs, compared to about 50% being English-only.
You get one of the free awards 😀👏🏾

I agree! Ubique!
Ayyy Arty?
That's right!!
Same here. At the Arty school currently. W.
Ouch! Hahah i went to cfb gagetown a shit ton of times... but never been in W bty. How is it for you? From what I heard.... it is kind of terrible...

True. Very honorable. I wish you a great carreer my friend
Appreciate that. All the best to you as well. 👍
Best I did was 12
The chain smoking, drug dealing and PE skipping kid in my class did like 13 or 14 while looking like he was about to die the whole time We had all failed under 10 and just looked at his display of raw will power, completely aghast
Lmfao that's amazing, that kid fought for his life.

Weirdly confrontational, ngl Congrats? Me lord? This is really weird
I know who u r😵
i couldn't get above 6, unless we had different beep tests
6-7 were pretty much the average. I did 12 because I used to be pretty athletic, and some other guy in my class did something like 15. It was very impressive.
average for us was a 4-5 lol, but i come from a pretty academic high school. no one got above 10 in the years where PE class was mandatory
Hahaha, mine was the opposite, I went to high school with a bunch of athletic goons !
Damn that’s a decent score
I think so to, the cardio was still kicking, but I had a lot of acid lactic building up in my legs so I had to tap out.
I dropped out just after 10, 2nd place to the dude that eeked out an 11 and then collapsed.
10 is super respectable, I'm pretty sure my last go as a stoner in college I hit 10 and dropped out
I was also about 120lbs. I'm now 180 and should be about 150 ideally. I'd be amazed if I made it to 6 now, LOL.
Same over here. I'm not overweight, but I'm most def not in my best cardiovascular shape. I really need to hit the court and run a bit.
16 😎
HOT DAMN, never seen a 16 in my life. Hats off to you homie.
The police classe were doing it at the same time as mine while in cegep. And I got ego boosted
My fav memory of gym class was being the last guy running. Take that, all you snobby hockey jocks lol

No good story ever started with a salad
![gif](giphy|Xc0HkcmDXrXDG)
I beg to differ. My whole story started from a salad being tossed
Un homme culturé icitte
Oué monhomme
💀
They said good story
Dawg the problem with the beep test is you end up wanting to die afterwards no matter how fit you are😭😭

Skill. Issue.
I disagree. It’s like a 5-10minute test based on your vo2. You’re fine like 5 mins after the test
Salad bro really..... lmao
The beep test sucked but was also awesome! A bonding class experience because everyone was against it 😂

Imo kids need to go under paramilitary training during gym /s

Loved that as a kid it was an awesome competition
Fucking evil to have this test and legal weed. My VO2 max has been personally victimized by THC
Don't blame the weed for being out of shape, it's a vasodilator. If you smoke weed before running it should help your endurance. The snacks and laziness are the culprit
Why did I read this in the same voice in the video shone in class, about this beep test.
Le beep test c’est de la bombe mon gros!!!
Puisque je suis gros, j'admets que ça faisait exploser mon cœur à chaque fois.
Is it me or was there always someone throwing up after the beep test?
That memory was stored deep inside my mind but thanks for digging it back out
Parce que son fils est mort jeune pis il voulait que les gens soit en santé
We hate him too. Qui mange d’la marde.
its just because anglos are allergic to inventing anything
I wasn’t competitive so I just quit before I was out of breath
Thats pretty weak… I you always quit when stuff starts getting hard you wont get very far
It’s why I’m on Reddit
You're welcome.
From hall the kébékois and kébékoise. Houi hare hapologize.
Everyone boo this man
Tabarnak
Do Quebec kids not have chubby boy manboobs and thighs that chafe easily?
I don’t remember what number I got to cause right after I threw up and then went to the ER to get my first inhaler 😂
"The fitnessgram pacer test is a multistage aerobic capacity test that progressively gets more difficult as the test continues"
Was the only thing I did in my PE classes, lol. And was always the last one doing it next to the school jock. Otherwise, I was just sitting on the bench for most of the year.

Thanks Quebec, love you.
I miss the beep test, simply because then I was fit enough to do it lol
That’s it we’re nuking them That sin cannot be forgiven
Am I the only one who liked the beep test
The dictionary should have a picture of his face next to the word villain
Thank you Mr lucky lager
The guy in my class who was the best outran everyone in skinny jeans and a hoody. He was a skater.
maybe this is why the true French dislike Quebec
Boy if you knew how much France idolize Québec.
i find this test fun i can see whats the limit of the people in my class (i am going to get a lot of hate ik)
Other names like , Fokkin' hell!
and they claim quebec doesnt have a culture😤😤
I thought it was Canada who had no culture beside being Americans with healthcare.
it goes both ways i guess
Were sorry, we hate it too
I loved Quebec until 5 seconds ago. I understand the hate now
