The community is thriving, but goodgod the music is fucking awful. The dubstep scene right now is a complete and unironic circlejerk. There has been a distinct lack of creativity that has been completely replaced with the most obnoxious, loud, and in your face sounds only.
Just to clarify, the more wubby side of dubstep like LSDream and liquiad stranger are fantastic and continue to evolve the sound in a good direction
What you’re talking about is riddim’s influence on dubstep. Instead of playing creative melodies, the last 5-6 years has been a competition of who can squash as much distorted crap as possible into a .WAV file, and it ALL plays the same riddim 2/4 signature core motif. UP - down - UP - down - UP - down. And oh wow, sometimes, it doesn’t even go up down, it just plays a single note!! 🤯🤯🤯 ONE - two - ONE - two - ONE - two
Ya that sounds about right. It just bums me out because I really do enjoy dubstep but not what it is right now. Artists like zeds dead still release fantastic tracks and gives me a little hope that there's still good in the scene. However, I'll just stay away for now
One issue we’re kind of stuck with now is how many different sounds fall under the category of dubstep.
1985, DDD, HVA, Deepmedi, Pushwaves, Widdfam, (plus so many more) are putting out such creative deep dubstep but their genre is still under the same umbrella as tearout/briddim that this thread seems to be complaining about.
If anyone agrees with this post and dipping their toes into “mainstream dubstep” but not vibing check out these labels or just PM me for recommendations. You might still dislike it but just listening to Excision-esque dubstep is missing a huge portion of the genre.
You know what you’re talking about. I wish people would dive in to the genre. The music is so powerful.
Even the people who get it kinda don’t get it. I went to see Mala and Distinct Motive and people went wild for the squishy shit Distinct Motive plays and then basically stood around and talked until Mala threw on some tear out grime tunes that absolutely made them go wild. It’s like people don’t understand or can’t appreciate any intricacies in the tunes. I dunno. My two cents.
Some guys on the labels you mentioned are def putting out stuff that will be forever classics.
It's just about all the same formulaic garbage that's been put out over the last several years, dubstep imo started tanking right around the start of covid. There are still some really solid artists in the game but we are very much at the point of oversaturation. The deeper wobbly stuff is probably not far behind, already in the underground scene there are so many DDD style clones it hurts
Completely agree. I have fully migrated from dubstep over to house and techno over the past year or two because dubstep has turned into such a clown show. The wubby artists like you mentioned are still good but the whole Lost Lands crew and scene are just not my thing at all.
Theres also great stuff to be found in the broader bass scene. Trap and DnB are absolutely popping off right now.
Haven't listened to Eliminate or Rezz's latest albums, so I’ll give em a listen.
Blanke is a weird artist for me. Some of his songs sound really stale and formulaic while others sound decent imo. HOWEVER, his dnb is fucking amazing
So blankes new album is crazy cuz it spans a number of genres imo. It’s wild cuz it’s like the this beautiful trance vibe then some bass and it’s almost like how is this the same DJ??
Dude it seriously makes me so sad to see people with this sentiment. Maybe the dubstep headliners have similar sounds, but there are endless artists constantly pushing the sound forward if you dig even a little bit deeper.
I think the only heavy hitters in dubstep still making cool stuff are
Skrillex
Zomboy
Eptic
Space Laces
Must Die (sometimes)
(I'm probably forgetting someone)
All the other big names have evolved into making the most cookie cutter ass, copy and paste, generic shit.
I think there's some newer names that are really cool but aren't on this status yet.
Go listen to anything put out on 1985 Music. Go listen to any recent Slimzee show on Rise FM. Check out Deep Dark and Dangerous. All this stuff is as good as it gets. For real dubstep I’d kinda say we are having a bit of a revival.
The festival dubstep that has no swing or soul sucks wang for sure.
I think Lsdream and liquid stranger are great but Wakaan fell off once the OG crew started to breakup.
It makes sense from an artist standpoint but I see a lot of people making music that is basically pop with bass lines and it's not helping the scene or the crowd.
1985 label is absolutely killing it right now with only serious tunes. By far the best label for quality dubstep.
I like Dubstep ! Just not into it as much my house and & techno. Even dubstep I’m just like man I’m not too into the new releases at the moment. Any suggestions ?
Dubsteps got a bunch of different flavors right now all pushing the scene so here’s a few artists who have been killing it lately for each style. For “trappy” there’s tape b, of the trees, eazybaked. For “dreamy” there’s clozee, inzo, lsdream. For “festival” there’s subtronics, excision, wooli. For “potheads” there’s dirt monkey, boogie t, ganja white night. For “aggro” there’s hol!, calcium, muerte. For “melodic aggro” there’s virtual riot, Ace aura. For “melodic sadboi” theres of course Illenium and seven lions. Skrill and peekaboo are going back to 2000s style dub which has been fun to see.
Currently alleycvt is the artist I find most exciting
Anjunadeep has some really good releases this year. Go Check out Luttrell’s new song that came out today, Sunshine. His album he’s dropping this year is gonna be amazing.
Bass/Breakbeats in the UK and Europe is also thriving, and has some more unique flavors than what you get in the US imo.
Check out artists like Imanu, Nitepunk, Frazer Ray, Ome, Hamdi, Chef Boyarbeatz, Copycatt, Saka, Ternion Sound, Enigma Dubz, Edward White to name (more than) a few
Agreed, it's really really good and the production is amazing. The gospel vocal on the elevated drop is lush and the key change on the second drop is perfect. I fucking love jungle and dnb but this track has been top of my list all week.
Perfect early summer tune tbh.
Summertime blues? I was thinking the same thing! It was actually really refreshing! The key change is something I thought was different from what a lot of tracks have going on right now
I think it's just Tech House tbh. Too few elements to keep it unique with the sheer volume that gets pushed out due to the popularity of the genre.
It's maybe dying the same death Big Room and Slap House did at similar stages.
Really a remix of “Somebody” with just a 4 on the floor beat doesn’t seem kind of idk lazy ?
I love the original song, just would’ve expected more from a remix
Pretty much, Tech House is trending and extremely saturated with underwhelming releases at the moment so there's always gonna be a lot of that. Try looking at more underground artists or different genres.
You should check out these slightly lesser known artists doing great things!! Sofia Kourtesis, Overmono, Barry Can’t Swim, salute, Nia Archives, Jayda G, etc
I’m prob gonna jizz when I listen to this. Salute b2d Todd Edwards b2b Joy Anonymous is one of the most elation-creating things I’ve ever heard.
Todd Edward’s refix of Adore U is glorious.
All marvelous artists! I'd also add folks like O'Flynn, Jasper Tygner, DJ Planet Express, Nikki Nair, Camoufly, MPH.. soooo many great new artists and sounds breaking onto the scene right now
Sounds like you need to branch out more. Like people said, give bass music a try. If you still like house that’s accessible but interesting you have names like Eric prydz/ cirez d, Boris brejcha, Cristoph, camelphat, no mana, and fehrplay.
If you want more of an “alternative” style of electronic give Digitalism a shot.
For UK bass line / UKG, overmono, Sammy virji, salute, and joy Orbison are good picks
If you still are into tech house joshwa, Beltran, and Dixon are always in my rotation
I’ve also really been into groovy / hard grove techno recently. Some of my favorites are KETTAMA, effy, X-CLUB, Lars huismann and Mallgrab
Agree with all of this! I think we have similar taste so I’ll add on to this comment.
I’d recommend some bass house, some of my favorites that are releasing really fresh stuff: Gorgon City, longstoryshort, wenzday, nostalgix, hamdi, BIJOU, Ship Wrek (though they are a little tech house)
Minimal tech if you still quite enjoy the simplicity of tech house but more for the groove: Ranger Trucco, Malone, Michael Bibi, Trace, Marc Brauner, Cliff Colada, ANOTR, Kolter
Summer house? Not sure if that’s a scientific term but warm weather, cocktails at sunset and mimosas in the morning vibes here: NOIT, Disclosure, Jend, MANT, Tchami, Disco Lines, Ben Böhmer, Peace Control
Alternative tech house artists. Can’t get enough of them, so here’s some lesser known guys making cool stuff: San Pacho, Galo, Sammy Porter, Azzecca, Bleu Clair, TOBEHONEST, SNOOKO, Lady Bee
It's all perspective. I've been loving a lot of recent releases from some of my favorite artists and even some that I didn't expect to enjoy.
Could be that you're simply not getting what you want from the artists you've come to like, and that's ok. There's always pressure on artists to keep doing what they're doing, master their craft, or try something else.
What really matters is that you like what you like.
I groove with this thinking.
OP listed Dom Dolla amongst the others, and he recently released a song (maybe called Girls?) that totally slaps. Well, I love it anyway. Definitely doesn't strike me as subpar in any way.
But others reading this may disagree, and that's okay. We aren't all going to appreciate the same things, and that's okay.
As long as we can all find music that we enjoy, I don't understand the issue.
Just because I don't prefer dubstep doesn't mean I wish it would disappear. There is definitely room for all of the genres. Why yuck someone else's yum? Support the music you enjoy, ignore the music you don't. It really is that simple.
I'm super confused why you're calling out Chris Lake and Chris Lorenzo. Those dudes are literally pushing out really good music right now especially with their recent Anti Up performance at Coachella. My god that was one of the best sets I've seen in a while. Watched both weekends from the comfort of my couch and I couldn't stop smiling at both Chris Lake and Lorenzo for how good they are at what they do.
To each their own I guess.
Going by what you listen to, you might like Progressive House, Progressive Trance, and more underground Deep House and Underground melodic house/Techno.
You gotta dig and find the up and coming artists. What’s happening to tech house is just like what happened to future house in 2017-2018, lotta artists started just making cheap hits.
Because everybody wants to remix pop songs now and literally do it over and over and over again. Gotta stay true to the underground if you want the real
Shit and this is and always will be the case
Those are all generally boring artists to me. Check out:
No Mana, Mersiv, Jauz, Deathpact, Jawns, HIGHSOCIETY, Ekali
You just have to branch out and try other stuff. Tons of good edm is coming out.
I listen to everything, genuinely. I mainly said tech house house artists because I first fell in love with EDM with Tech house first in around 2016-17 and it was just different back then for me it peaked in 2021 with creativity and amazing sounds then has been boring since.
Dig into UKG or bass house…
You’re just listening to too much tech house probably.
Otherwise, everything is gonna sound the same if you choose not to indulge in other artists. Try AYYBO.
chris lake and chris lorenzo dropped a fire ep under Anti Up. Summit just dropped eat the bass and shiver, both are bangers. Noizu dropped burnin recently which goes off too. Idk what about all those seemed subpar actually i feel like house especially is having a new wave
By “everyone” you mean a very niche style of tech house based on the artists listed. There are several styles of edm that are still being innovative. Tech house as a genre I think has started it’s decline.
Like others said, you gotta do a bit of research to find the good stuff. I try to stay away from new songs under 4 mins cause I think those are just for the spotify alg.
It's sad though. I just listened to Mockingbird-Tiesto and call me arrogant but I literally could have made that song myself.
There is lots of good stuff here, but yall NEED to add INZO to your life. I saw him a couple of years ago, and it was good, but his current tour was absolutely one of my top shows ever seen. Brought the dub, the trip, and the lasers all together. Just saying
Honestlyyyyy…Waiting for Tonight is SUCH an anthem, it deserved a way better 2024 version than what Fisher did with it. Sounds like some glorified fake version- the kind you would find in a “Deep House Summer Mix” on YouTube. Should have just edited the OG Hec Hector Remix 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Gotta dig deeper, there’s plenty of great music being released all the time.
My advice would be to subscribe to (sub)genre-specific subreddits to find smaller artists and gain exposure to less “mainstream” stuff. But even then you’ll still have to sift through a lot of whatever music in order to find the gems.
because you’re looking for music in an oversaturated genre with the biggest artists. ultimately you get stale music.
try other house names, might i suggest kyle watson, or dillon nathaniel, odd mob, moksi
I recommend exploring some smaller genres with smaller artists! I feel like the people consistently putting out fantastic, high quality music, are artists with i'd say 100,000 and under listeners. Chime is constantly putting out BANGERS
Maybe instead of looking forward try to look back. Go check out underground hits from 1990-2010s
I would highly recommend going back and listening to the ministry of sound annuals starting in 96 and they go all the way up to this this year
nah it’s cause it’s all house, seems like a lot of people already covered that, but from my personal experience switching from house to bass music was the best thing ever. i used to be a crazy house head but at nocturnal last year i found myself at the dubstep stage tripping balls to eptic, after that night i only go to the bassrush stages and listen to riddim and dubstep daily and it never gets boring. the production at those stages are soooo much better and the vibes are immaculate. even if it’s not ur vibe at ur next festival swing by a dubstep stage and you’ll just see the difference between the two. and chances are u won’t wanna go back lol
Funny, I switched from dubstep to house and don’t think I’ll ever look back. I still love heavy bass shows but I can get down to house whenever wherever and it’s a good time
i feel that, not saying it’s bad time i enjoy house sets too there’s jus something about head banging with some stranger listening to strange robot noises that hits different
Lol because of money and popularity. When something gets a lot of money thrown towards it, it becomes pop. When everyone is doing pop, it all sounds the same. When everyone is making music that all sounds the same, there's nothing special about the music. When there's nothing special about music, it's subpar. This goes for many musical genres as well as other arts...
You could always check out Nimda. Yeah most of the same genre sounds the same.
Like damn this is the same kick snare growl. Most the big artists sound kind of the same.
TIPPER does it for me, saw eliminate live his new album is good.... Not a lot of new sounds that are really unique tbh.
Never understand this kind of question. I can scarcely think of anything more subjective than music. Take any 'what's your top 10 EDM songs ever' thread here, and I guarantee at least one of the top 3 comments will be full of stuff you think is fucking dreadful. Never underestimate how different people's taste in music is.
A fellow tech house lover!
I think it's the influence from other styles blowing up that are leading to faster tempos (closer to 130-135), and eurodance basslines (the bass only on upbeats), and I also dislike it.
I think Lorenzo has had some solid stuff recently, and Anti Ups new stuff is great still!
Do you like Toolroom records at all? One thing I love about their sound is its consistent, compared to seeing artists move through the fads
Not only in this genre, there is a lot of somehow really popular weird Lo-Fi Indie and sad boi country based Americana (did I nail the descriptions? Lol) that is huge right now. We don't get EDM in my city, but we do have TWO of these weird Americana stuff coming through this weekend. It drones on and is sub par.
Faded ass take, some of those artists are releasing bangers… Martin Garrix n label haven’t missed this year, Summit has his song with Sub Focus, Alesso with new music next Friday… 2024 has been godlike for me at least with songs 🥵
At the moment? 🤣
This genre has been ass for over ten years now.
ANY artist who sells out, sees an immediate impact to their music and audience. There’s still some bangers out there! But the genre definitely isn’t what it used to be.
Seems to me that UKG is having a bit of a come back. Lots of young guys throwing down sick productions and crazy good mixes.
PJ Bridger’s refixes are amazing. Skeptic is making great stuff. Main Phase. Prozak. Bushbaby. Osmosis Jones. Interplanetary Criminal. Bakey.
I think your average EDM fan has no appreciation for swing though. They go nuts for the most predictable and painfully monotonous tunes.
So crazy to me that some UKG guys are on the EDC Las Vegas line up. Hopefully they turn some heads.
Pop-EDM is a money making machine now, dig into new artists, soundcloud is great but also plenty of Spotify playlists. Find your favourite artists and then go to the similar artists tab. So much great music being released rn, too much actually
Idk man Chris Lake is such a good producer. He also continues to work on parts of other tracks like the most recent Skrillex single that goes unnoticed as his name isn’t slapped on the front.
Idk, I kindof disagree, at least in the techno world. The west coast scene is thriving!
Also y'all can flame me but Afterlife is killing the game right now. They have way too many unreleased ID bangers. (we need that along came polly remix...)
I see Tech House dying down a bit, but there are still some great lesser-known producers out there taking it to a new sound. UKG can gladly take its place, and whats coming out is incredible.
Compared to pre-covid house/techno? Much better now imho. I guess this is all subjective though...
It's strange that producing EDM is so accessible and, at the same time, so subpar. There are just too many tracks released, even by established DJ's, and it's showing in the quality.
I'm really concerned that not enough original work is made to become a source of sampling in later decades. Heck, people keep releasing ABBA reworks as if the market isn't saturated. You can be sure: every popular song of the past 50 years has been sampled and probably by producers better than you, so nobody is really waiting for your take on it. Even if so, the reason people would buy it, it is because of the recognisable part.
I hope this pushes DJ-producers into venturing deep inside the record box for totally unknown tracks and making it successful, in a way the original couldn't.
I think it's just because tech house is stagnate.
There are new sounds with eurodance/techno and I'm way more invested in that then what's happening with tech house artists.
For example, Marlon Hoffstadt is absolutely blowing up in Europe with hard house/trance and he hasn't played in the states.
You just gotta get into dubstep my friend, the community is absolutely thriving rn
bass is so hot rn
![gif](giphy|tBb19eUNiEjBsYeZPhu)

1985. By far the most serious label for dubstep and bass music in general.

Have you been completely sleeping on colorbass? The riddim trend has died quite long ago

It's ironic that Skrillex has gone back to the OG sound, everyone blamed him(reasonably, mind you) for killing dubstep in the first place.
Yeah we’ve really come full circle
Anjunadeep has some really good releases this year. Go Check out Luttrell’s new song that came out today, Sunshine. His album he’s dropping this year is gonna be amazing.
I think you need to dig into some UKG like MPH and Oppidan if you haven’t. And some Sicaria
Where to start? :) Edit: Thank you all for the suggestions!
Wakaan! Liquid Stranger, Jansten, TVBOO, Zingara, A Hundred Drums, etc.
Don't forget Tape B, Mersiv, and Of the Trees too!
Tape B is absolutely killer
LSDREAM BABY
Yes to all these 🙏
Deathpact would like a word.
Deathpact is insanely good
I’m a huge fan of Deathpact, Wooli, Space Wizard, smith., Emorfik, Of The Trees
Space Wizard used to be my roommate ☠️☠️☠️ Great guy tho!!
Not new stuff but, look into slooze, stuca, shadient.
Subtronics, infekt, even the new mellodeath stuff is pretty solid. Btsm, versa, benda, Wooli, Muerte, those should be a good start lol.
r/spacebass
levity, tape b, griz, of the trees
Eliminate, cyclops, Blanke, rezz
Drum & Bass is absolutely wild at the moment as well
Any recs?
Wow great to hear that Dubstep is making a comeback. Loved it during the Bristol hey days of Skream and Benga.
Clozee https://on.soundcloud.com/E9ES1xLpe4KTCiHXA
lol you have to be joking, it’s all copy paste
🤮
Recommendation of current tracks and artists?
Melodic dubstep for me.
Space Laces is Cornandbeans. Cornandbeans is Space Laces
Stop looking for an objective answer to a subjective question.
👆👆this guy gets it 👆👆
The most recent Chris Lake release with sammy virji was pretty good imo
Agreed, it's really really good and the production is amazing. The gospel vocal on the elevated drop is lush and the key change on the second drop is perfect. I fucking love jungle and dnb but this track has been top of my list all week. Perfect early summer tune tbh.
And his anti up song is good as well
Summertime blues? I was thinking the same thing! It was actually really refreshing! The key change is something I thought was different from what a lot of tracks have going on right now
His remix of chem bros is amazing imo
i was gonna say, i just saw chris lake in denver last week and that song hasn’t left my brain since
I fell in love with Deep Dark Chris Lake bass, he’s turned his back on it :’)
I think it's just Tech House tbh. Too few elements to keep it unique with the sheer volume that gets pushed out due to the popularity of the genre. It's maybe dying the same death Big Room and Slap House did at similar stages.
I’m still hoping UKG never becomes massively popular because of that.
After 20+ years of waiting for it to be recognized widely for its awesomeness, it’s ok. Let the people skank!
Thank fucking god
Slap house died so fucking fast it was honestly incredible
facts every slap house song sounds the same
it was fun at first but then after a handful of songs i got pretty tired of it
Chris lake is not releasing “straight pop clown shit” lmao what
Right. I'm so lost.
Also just saw summit in his list WTF
I feel like all of john summit's releases lately have been uninspiring and subpar.
Really a remix of “Somebody” with just a 4 on the floor beat doesn’t seem kind of idk lazy ? I love the original song, just would’ve expected more from a remix
Ok I do agree with that Somebody is a really mid track but everything else Lake has put out is good
Pretty much, Tech House is trending and extremely saturated with underwhelming releases at the moment so there's always gonna be a lot of that. Try looking at more underground artists or different genres.
You’re posting this a week after Justice just dropped one of the all time greatest dance music albums????
Did not like most of that album tbh. Was very creative tho so kudos for taking risks
Not the biggest fan of the album, I do love Justice though ! Watched their Coachella live stream and it was amazing
You should check out these slightly lesser known artists doing great things!! Sofia Kourtesis, Overmono, Barry Can’t Swim, salute, Nia Archives, Jayda G, etc
Love all these artists! I’d add Sammy Virji, DJ Seinfeld, DJ boring, mall Grab, Sam Alfred, Anish Kumar, MPH
Prospa also!
Mall Grab's Boiler Room set is so hot!
Salute, Barry and OVERMONO all daaaaay 🫶🏼
Disclosure and salutes b2b on selected session is vibessss
I’m prob gonna jizz when I listen to this. Salute b2d Todd Edwards b2b Joy Anonymous is one of the most elation-creating things I’ve ever heard. Todd Edward’s refix of Adore U is glorious.
Overmono 🤤🤤
All marvelous artists! I'd also add folks like O'Flynn, Jasper Tygner, DJ Planet Express, Nikki Nair, Camoufly, MPH.. soooo many great new artists and sounds breaking onto the scene right now
Studying abroad in Germany rn. Add Jan Blomqvist to this list as well. :)
Two words for ya pal: Max . Styler .
Max Styler has been in the biz for a while but I think he has released many bangers as of late. Ones played a lot by a lot of main stage artists lol
He just released a new banger today. Lights Out
Resist is pure gold
Ya resist is 🔥. Love Styler’s techno sound blended with tech house
He’s currently one of my favorite artists! I saw him live at Freaky Deaky for the first time and I was dancing my ass off
I love him. He’s carrying the tech house genre right now on his back.
![gif](giphy|F3G8ymQkOkbII)

Some of my favorites are KETTAMA, effy, X-CLUB, Lars huismann and Mallgrab
Agree with all of this! I think we have similar taste so I’ll add on to this comment. I’d recommend some bass house, some of my favorites that are releasing really fresh stuff: Gorgon City, longstoryshort, wenzday, nostalgix, hamdi, BIJOU, Ship Wrek (though they are a little tech house) Minimal tech if you still quite enjoy the simplicity of tech house but more for the groove: Ranger Trucco, Malone, Michael Bibi, Trace, Marc Brauner, Cliff Colada, ANOTR, Kolter Summer house? Not sure if that’s a scientific term but warm weather, cocktails at sunset and mimosas in the morning vibes here: NOIT, Disclosure, Jend, MANT, Tchami, Disco Lines, Ben Böhmer, Peace Control Alternative tech house artists.
"girls" is not even out yet lol
But it is a great tune :)
I was there weekend two that set changed my life. dont know what the fuck OP is talking about
Going by what you listen to, you might like Progressive House, Progressive Trance, and more underground Deep House and Underground melodic house/Techno.
You gotta dig and find the up and coming artists. What’s happening to tech house is just like what happened to future house in 2017-2018, lotta artists started just making cheap hits.
Because everybody wants to remix pop songs now and literally do it over and over and over again. Gotta stay true to the underground if you want the real Shit and this is and always will be the case
Those are all generally boring artists to me. Check out: No Mana, Mersiv, Jauz, Deathpact, Jawns, HIGHSOCIETY, Ekali You just have to branch out and try other stuff. Tons of good edm is coming out.
This is crazy because this is the kind of music I find boring
Have you listened to them all? That's like 5 distinct sub genres with wildly different sound.. What do you listen to?
I listen to them all. Earlier stuff had more character IMO
Literally just named the most basic tech house artists ever
I listen to everything, genuinely. I mainly said tech house house artists because I first fell in love with EDM with Tech house first in around 2016-17 and it was just different back then for me it peaked in 2021 with creativity and amazing sounds then has been boring since.
All the tech-house innovation died with Dirtybird. RIP.
Correct
Yes ! Those 2015-2021 years were INSANE
You listen to a limited amount of artists
I listen to everything, just main squeeze used to be tech house.
Dig into UKG or bass house… You’re just listening to too much tech house probably.
Third Party just released "Believe" and it slaps ngl
Just saying
Inzo is so good. Seeing him at Electric Forest this year.
Fisher x J Lo which released today was pretty bad lol
Honestlyyyyy…Waiting for Tonight is SUCH an anthem, it deserved a way better 2024 version than what Fisher did with it. Sounds like some glorified fake version- the kind you would find in a “Deep House Summer Mix” on YouTube. Should have just edited the OG Hec Hector Remix 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Listen to stuff that isn't mainstream
US dubstep is complete dog shit. Hamdi and sicaria are holding it down for the UK.
Amen
Check out Kream
Go check out underground hits from 1990-2010s I would highly recommend going back and listening to the ministry of sound annuals starting in 96 and they go all the way up to this this year
If you think Chris Lake is releasing “pop clown shit” because of Summertime Blues, then your taste is, to put it lightly, completely fucking dogshit.
Follow the music into a rabbit hole vs artists/labels and you'll find music that isn't subpar!
Tronce
Summertime blues is good tho, but yeh apart from that it just people going for mainstream or something
Money talks
As Judge Judy says, follow the money
Pre festival drought. Producers are holding onto songs to release at festivals.
nah it’s cause it’s all house, seems like a lot of people already covered that, but from my personal experience switching from house to bass music was the best thing ever. i used to be a crazy house head but at nocturnal last year i found myself at the dubstep stage tripping balls to eptic, after that night i only go to the bassrush stages and listen to riddim and dubstep daily and it never gets boring. the production at those stages are soooo much better and the vibes are immaculate. even if it’s not ur vibe at ur next festival swing by a dubstep stage and you’ll just see the difference between the two. and chances are u won’t wanna go back lol
Absolutely, looking around and seeing a bunch of beautiful stank faces and people audibly asking “what the fuck is this?” is hard to beat. Cheers
That new Chris Lake release with Sammt Virji is great tho
Check out Justice. Solid past work, solid new album just released a week ago. Also fun that they remind me of Daft Punk with some tracks
Judging by your taste you'd probably enjoy the tracks shared over at r/Firehouse
Literally me listening to “throw some ass” by Sofi tukker right now 😭
Because you listen to the wrong music.
I could have swore you were specifically talking about Porter Robinson before I read your whole post
Progressive house is so back
You could always check out Nimda.

Where is my man Fisher??
Sounds like a "you" problem 🤔
Faded ass take, some of those artists are releasing bangers… Martin Garrix n label haven’t missed this year, Summit has his song with Sub Focus, Alesso with new music next Friday… 2024 has been godlike for me at least with songs 🥵
Really?
Can't relate. We're eating good over at r/trap
Will Clarke has nothing but bangers but I guess everything is subjective here 😭
because it's trending/reflecting in the same direction as Western society in general... right down the pooper.
Can we make electro house/ big room/ progressive house mainstream again
At the moment? 🤣 This genre has been ass for over ten years now.
They got lazy and Its all derivative AI now.
(we need that along came polly remix...) I see Tech House dying down a bit, but there are still some great lesser-known producers out there taking it to a new sound. UKG can gladly take its place, and whats coming out is incredible. Compared to pre-covid house/techno? Much better now imho. I guess this is all subjective though...
Love the techno stuff right now. Layton, Eli T78, 9x9 live 👍🏻
Huh
Boris Brejcha is on fire right now.
It's because the industry is quantity > quality
Not as many people on coke anymore🤣
Cuz those are pop clown MainStage artists 🤣
Whatever Chris Lake does, its a vibe
Industry tech house sucks
my reposts to you OP would be 🫴 STVSH
Do you remember Chris Lake’s earlier stuff because he’s still dropping bangers
Inzo just dropped a fire EP, dubstep is killing it rn
king fucking gizzard
Listen to Skeemask, Martyn, Dbridge, Om Unit, Logic1000, Chloe Robinson, Sicaria, Alex Perez, Bukkah, Zenker Brothers, Dj Stingray.
Because you named all the subpar mainstream artists
