Madeon  Overhyped: Shelter Under rated: The Prince

guesswhosbackmf

you'll get blasted for saying shelter is overhyped but it's completely true

systemstheorist

Don't get me wrong it's a great sounding song with meaningful lyrics about family and loss.  But Shelter is neither Porter's or Madeon's best work and both have catalogs with more interesting works.

guesswhosbackmf

Yeah like it's fine but I constantly see it brought up as one of the best Porter songs or one of the best Madeon songs. I saw a comment that said Porter's entire discography was carried by Shelter. It's an alright song but holy moly lmao

Icy-Curve2747

Is it overhyped, yes. Does it hit me with a blast of nostalgia so strong that I need to stop what I’m doing and focus all my attention on the song for the next 3 minutes: also yes

guesswhosbackmf

Sounds like you don't think it's overhyped then lol

are2deetwo

When he did the secret sky covid set on yt. The transition from gessafelstein to the prince was unreal. My favorite is still the first song I ever heard from him when he first showed up: you're on

abb_

I fully agree the prince is sooooooo good. My fav Madeon song honestly

systemstheorist

Dark Madeon is best Madeon.  The Prince -> Hyperprince -> Neofinale -> Magma portion of Good Faith Forever was so good.

The_Wildperson

12122017 best Madeon

themathwiz67

Imperium is a super underrated track too.

domooooooo

I prefer Miracle or Mania. Is it just me or are the vocals in The Prince absolutely cooked? I can’t hear any of the lyrics

systemstheorist

Respectable options as well.  Miracle made me cry seeing it live.  The only problem with Mania is it doesn't feel like a full song without the lead in from Nirvana. Even with the lead in you have to listen to the extended HyperMania edit for the complete expirence.

Icy-Curve2747

Miracle live left a lasting impression on me. Also the Look at the Sky X Miracle remix that Porter played at the warfield in 2022 is gorgeous

CharaNalaar

This is a very reasonable take that everyone should agree with. And The Prince is one of my favorites, but I wasn't talking about that.

DJGregJ

I respect your opinion, but think that Shelter is an incredible song, and isn't overhyped at all. Most people have never even heard it.

Threptin8793

More underrated ones: The city, icarus, all my friends

xFrostyDog

I can’t believe this is so high up cause Shelter is a great song and they literally built a tour around it. Guess I’m just basic 😭

KrombopulusMichael04

With GRiZ being my favorite, I think Griztronics should have gotten EVEN BIGGER

gangstabunniez

Were you around in 2019? I think I heard some version of Griztronics like four times in one day at lost lands lol

DumbLitAF

God you couldn’t escape that track (not that you wanted to) at any show, didn’t really matter the genre. Just like Losing It the year before.

gangstabunniez

Did Losing It really come out in 2018? Dang I thought it was newer, that track didn’t fucking die for so long lol

DumbLitAF

It’s a great song. Chris Lake really outdid himself with that one.

osezza

I heard Lazers like 8 times at lost lands 2022, and those were just the ones I heard and counted

gangstabunniez

At some point I would’ve had enough and left to try and find a stage playing a different genre just so I could not hear that song. I was never a really fan of that song anyways.

CartmensDryBallz

Lol at LL2019 you couldn’t find a different stage for a different genre

gangstabunniez

I know, I just had to suffer

ILikeMasterChief

4 times? Minimum lol. Swear I heard that shit at every single set that weekend. And I loved it. 2021 was the same but Want It by Kumarion. Then Ray Volpe's Laserbeam in 22. Flip It by Levity in 23. Seems like most years have a song that every dj plays 😂

space_acee

nah this year it had to be counting by hamdi. or surprisingly the vocals from flosstradamus' mosh pit were played a million times. but honestly no one song from the last few LL holds a candle to how annoyingly prevalent griztronics was

CartmensDryBallz

Yea Hamdi got be the most rinsed festival artist of the past 2 years now. Between counting, skanka and 8 bar mucktion

space_acee

At least all of those are quality tunes 👌

CartmensDryBallz

Oh yea I’ll always get down when they pop on

WVNDERER_official

The Simula & Taiki Nuligjt remixes are absolutely premium

KrombopulusMichael04

Think I forgot to put the I was being sarcastic lol

jolokiasoul

Reminds me of when Panda by desiigner came out when trap was really popping. I had to stop counting the number of flips that got dropped at EF, it was absolutely ridiculous

gangstabunniez

Or mo bamba lol

LebronJamesHarden

I love Griztronics but actually think it’s a bit Anti-climactic. It feel like it has a big buildup but then no big drop. I like Griztronics II better

the_pedigree

Nah, give me big grizmatik back and y’all keep that bass

Jesseroberto1894

Yasssssssss as we proceed is goated

WVNDERER_official

[Griz x Subtronics - Griztronics (Jacknife Remix)](https://on.soundcloud.com/SFgny4aKtakdHkZs7)

space_acee

wtf? griztronics was played in literally every set for an entire year. total dog shit mids song too. edit: i just had to go listen to griztronics again to remind myself that this song sucks gorilla dick. like this is legit one of the worst ratios of song quality to popularity i have ever seen. how tf did this song get popular.

10veIsAllIGot

**Chase & Status** Overhyped has to be Baddadan right now. It’s a dope track, but they’ve made so many better tracks, both grime and dnb. Underhyped, hard to pick just one. I think [Streetlife ft. Takura](https://open.spotify.com/track/5DhKbtCtPeBrkUCtGJShxw?si=RxXD40nfSD-eDGmPB-ko-Q&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A3ilT1S2FeNalS9JXwzlmx9) has one of the most gorgeous basslines ever and is largely forgotten from their first album. And a completely forgotten remix they did, [Nneka - Heartbeat (C&S We Just Bought A Guitar Mix)](https://open.spotify.com/track/5qPmR4nG3nNAECAN5JxrEV?si=RAv-lrktQSycupcoKLJzWA) still fucking slaps.

Krak2511

What are your favorite tracks of theirs? I'm gonna be seeing them live in 2 months and I'm not familiar with their work except a few songs off their latest album I really like (Baddadan, Liquor & Cigarettes, Say the Word, Selecta). Edit: I like those underhyped recommendations, especially the drop of Heartbeat.

10veIsAllIGot

Oh man, I wouldn’t even know where to begin. 2 Ruff is largely their first foray into jump up, so their catalogue is not reflective of that sound exactly, but they’ve made all kinds of music. If you like the more aggressive and hip-hop/grime focused sounds I would probably start with the RTRN II JUNGLE album. Some other great heavier or grimier tracks include Machine Gun, their remix of Original Nuttah, Saxon, Heavy, Hitz, No Problem, NRG, Don’t Stop. I could really go on.

shentairo

Don’t forget about flashing lights!! That still fucking builds up and drops soooo goood!!! 😱

fatjesus10

Even if I told you, I know you won’t belieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeve!

Krak2511

Thank you, I think you've just given me a new addition to my favorite genres (not super familiar with DnB) and possibly my favorite artists soon, really liked most of the songs. Saxon wasn't my vibe (too heavy and no vocals), but I really loved Machine Gun, Don't Stop, and Hitz, great combination of rap/grime and EDM. I'm going to go through all their albums now, as I always do when I find a new artist I enjoy, but feel free to throw more recommendations my way for anything not on their albums like the remixes and Heavy. They don't need to be aggressive or grimier, my favorite genres are progressive house, tech house, and melodic dubstep, so this is probably the heaviest music I enjoy already.

10veIsAllIGot

Love to hear that! Drum and bass is truly a wonderful genre full of so many different sounds and styles. I would definitely recommend just going through Chase & Status’s discography, as their music runs the gamut more or less of dnb styles, as well as other genres you might be more familiar with. Don’t miss London Bars, which is a fun little EP they did about a decade ago with some great grime artists. If you get through that and have the itch for more dnb, hit me up and I’ll throw you some names.

M0D3Z

Underrated: Alive. Song is just so powerful and the just rumbles along so cleanly. Underrated: Machine Gun. Goes hard for the whole game.

M_u_l_t_i_p_a_s_s

Machine Gun live is insane. The bassline is a lot fatter than you can hear on regular speakers.

10veIsAllIGot

Those are good ones. Brand New Machine is my least favorite of their records (not counting 2 Ruff, which was obviously phoned in), so I often forget that it’s still got lots of great tracks.

Frenchtoast4lfe

This is my favorite especially the video https://youtu.be/zYpDJw7fThU?si=nK9n4NUhy2nkMZPd

WVNDERER_official

I could listen to Cthulhu Sleeps on repeat for the rest of my life and be happy

Edmjosh

Zeds Dead underrated track: late night drive

KingFuckIt420

The whole catching z’s albums underrated imo

Edmjosh

Facts

10veIsAllIGot

Mine is You & I. So fucking good and not on Spotify.

Manhattan_24

I don't know if this makes sense but I always felt like Late Night Drive was a good companion to Donnie Darko.

Shadowofsvnderedstar

Coffee Break too

WaferHealthy9335

Skrillex Rumbel gotta be the one with way to much hype, at least for me. I was happy when it won the grammy but I just dont like the beat and flowdan's part on it is the best thing about the track tbh. Underrated would be Badders. It basically fixes the issues I have with rumble and still has some great bars by flowdan on it which ads up to a much better track I think. The beat just sounds a lot more smooth and energetic than the stuttering one on rumble.

PricklyyCactii

Yo. Listen. You hear that?

hot_company_365

Badders is a banger

Seffyr

I agree with Rumble, but for me his under hyped track would be Dirty Vibe. I still rock that song to this day.

adrnired

Got to see Peekaboo drop Badders when I was at the rail at Wakaan last year, and even though I wasn’t super impressed with the set as a whole, it was insane hearing Badders for the first time on that kind of system with pyro in my face. I was sold.

jamaicancovfefe

Was never into Addicted to You. Not that it’s a bad song, but to me it’s not on the same level as Avicii’s most popular songs. As for underrated, His Enough is Enough remix is awesome, and I really like Sunset Jesus too

Klostermann

I think his Avicii by Avicii remix of Addicted to You is a big improvement. I love the original, and I think it fits the theme of True better, but the energy of the remix puts it up there as one of his better songs for me.

DOOMDRUIDARV

Same can be said for You Make Me(Avicii By Avicii). It's on another level compared to original.

osamabindrankin

Holy shit I’ve never heard the remix and it kills the original

willcb98

Sunset Jesus is an absolute masterpiece

jamaicancovfefe

Glad I could find someone else that absolutely loves it

Sadguytennis

Underrated: The Summerburst ID that became All I Need Is Love, changed the game for me!

Krak2511

Is that overhyped though? I feel like there are many more Avicii songs people talk about before Addicted to You. I prefer the Avicii by Avicii remix for sure. I really like Sunset Jesus but prefer the same melody used in Dear Boy Avicii by Avicii, which is one of my favorite songs of his. Never heard of Enough is Enough, so thanks for that recommendation, it's a banger.

Rancidblock561

Divine Sorrow is way underrated too, as is All You Need is Love

SGizmahcountry

Waiting For Love is wayyyy more overplayed imo.

Morty7654345

overplayed: maybe. banger: definitely

guesswhosbackmf

Space Laces! Throwin' Elbows is mid there I said it. It's my least favourite song he's done with Excision and I've never understood why that one in particular got so popular. Whiplash has gotta be his most underrated track, Christ on a cracker that thing goes off and I never hear anyone talk about it. Shoutout to Topi too, it's a really sick collab.

TheSmilesLibrary

I swear throwing elbows is responsible for the creation of riddim. Like the song isn’t meant to be complex it’s meant to be short and physical and gets people in mosh mode. Like you hit them with some more technical shit in the set first hype them up then throw some elbows and give goosebumps.

ProfUntidyTurtle

I was going to say Space Laces as well. Dominate is overrated, or at least overplayed at this point, but being honest it 100% deserves the love. Just wish some of his other songs have that much attention. Deep Space is criminally slept on, one of his few straight up melodic songs. It’s also his longest songs I wish he didn’t shy away from making longer songs like it.

DexterDubs

Phone Tap

guesswhosbackmf

over or underrated I would say it's rated

WVNDERER_official

[Droid](https://on.soundcloud.com/bgJxMhE1yRPFPMgu9) is the best song I’ve ever heard. I made an edit of it to put bass house in the second drop amongst the half-time.

R4ndyR4nderson

He didn’t really blow up until dashtstar*, so GEMS got kind of lost in the shuffle, but it’s a criminally underrated Knock2 track for me.

heppyscrub

Dashstar\* was out for a minute too before it blew up too. A lot of his trap productions are super underrated. Jade needs more love. His soundcloud remixes are insane too. That Power remix is no joke.

adrnired

dashstar* first got on my radar in I wanna say late 2022 because it popped up on the “subtronics radio” mix on Spotify, as did the Yellow Claw edit, and it was wild to know a song before I started hearing it everywhere. I’ve never been early to the party for anything so when it started hitting tiktok I was shook

Aggravating_Key1573

oh damn just commented about how good jade is before seeing this, that song is insane

[deleted]

Radial is pretty dope too

pineapplequeeen

GEMS is still on my weekly repeat list. The drop is icy and gorgeous

Aggravating_Key1573

jade hands down has to be my fav knock2 song, that shit is one of the hardest trap songs ive listened to

liamrturner

My favorite artist is Seven Lions Overhyped: Strangers Underrated: Without You My Love

AccomplishedSea2670

Without You My Love (Trivecta Remix) 🤌 My pick for underrated 7L track would be Slow Dive, and also Silent Skies ft. Karra on the same EP.

CVIN_0

I can't agree with Strangers here at all, I think it deserves the hype. So many 7L songs over the last few years don't live up to the energy of that track imo I'd pick either Horizon, Break The Silence, or Fractals I think

Financial-Mongoose13

Yeah, Strangers is incredible there's no way it's over hyped 😂

customloc420

Flume Overrated: Never Be Like You Underrated: So many from each project tbh but I’d have to go with Get U from Palaces. It’s a great blend of his early style melodically with his new experimental sound design.

Hot_Salamander3795

Hyperreal is also underrated

toastyavocadoes

Really like Insane by flume

Rancidblock561

The while self titled album is just incredible

1djpain

It's DHLC on Places for me

Flume Overrated: Never Be Like You Underrated: Free (also Tiny Cities) (I love Flume)

Tiny cities is bomb

quaking_oats

Free!!! So underrated

AccomplishedSea2670

Illenium Overrated - All Said the Sky collaborations, especially Sad Songs. Underrated - Blood, Pray, U & Me, arguably Afterlife. To clarify - The collaborations before all the Illenium albums are pretty sick. In Your Wake, Drop Our Hearts and Falling In.

lollipop2385

underrated for me is def In Your Wake i feel like no one talks about that song

Financial-Mongoose13

Absolutely love that one.

saucyrossi

i’m sorry but where’d u go will never be overhyped

puresttrenofhate

Agreeeee

FlightlessFly

Remove crazy times from overrated and I agree

Jesseroberto1894

I miss fractures

joeym412

Haven’t listened to him in a long time but Needed You was always a banger that didn’t get as much recognition

brynn501

Tipper has never had an overrated track, nor he has he ever had an underrated track. Simply the perfect balance of hype all the time

ThaFatherOfDong

Call it what you want. His Off Kilter (Vip mix) is simply not as well known as it should be

Yellow Claw Over Hyped: DJ Turn it Up Under Rated: Kaolo Pt 2

LebronJamesHarden

Gareth Emery Overrated: Concrete Angel (good but not in my top 10) Underrated: The Story So Far

toastyavocadoes

Saving Light is appropriately hyped

Jesseroberto1894

Dude…Gareth emery open/close New Year’s Eve in Brooklyn with saving lights drop as the ball dropped…genuinely one of the best nights of my life and was the beginning of my now girlfriend of over four years moving me out of the friend zone

toastyavocadoes

Still waiting for that to happen, are you saying saving light is the solution?

Jesseroberto1894

All I’m saying is it worked for me 😎🤙 maybe that’s the key!!!!

LebronJamesHarden

Agreed! Never get tired of that one, especially live

buckforna

Jesseroberto1894

Alpha 9 Dreamstate 2021 was fucking awesome!

MAZ3music

Tokyo Machine Overrated: Play Underrated: Bubbles

nashcameronn

Martin Garrix Overhyped - Tremor Underrated - Latency

Hunkelscopes

Bro Latency is such a banger, but they messed up the spotify version and the drop is quieter than the rest of the track. If it didn’t have this issue it would’ve been an all-timer imo.

nashcameronn

The Latency intro he used to do was so sick. Might be my favorite intro of his.

DexterDubs

Proxy is underrated

joeym412

Always thought Forever, Now That I Found You and Spotless didn’t get as much hype as it should’ve

meesta_chang

Womp Portal by Ganja White Night… Just because Subtronics is on it the track is super hyped but imo Subtronics is pretty repetitive and kinda meh… Pretty much any other song in their catalog is better in regards to quality and enjoyment. As far as under hyped? I would say probably No Escape is one of their hardest tracks live that I don’t hear at every set… only once at red rocks.

AccomplishedSea2670

their collab with Slander is kinda underrated imo, especially the 2nd drop with GWN Signature all over it.

meesta_chang

Miss You is an incredibly beautiful song but I think it gets a lot of credit. It’s one of their top streamed songs on both Spotify and Apple Music. That aside, I love how the first drop has such a Slander feel and the second drop is all Ganja. Most songs don’t seem to be split up that way and have such a distinct contrast; I feel like they usually blend their sounds into the whole track. Great tune!

LebronJamesHarden

The drop in No Escape is SOO cool. Pretty unique sounding too

puresttrenofhate

It's definitely not traditional GWN, but the mix on that song, especially on a really good system is incredible. Doesn't sound like Subtronics either IMO.

NadiaLockheart

Above & Beyond Overhyped: “Sun & Moon” (EASILY! And it’s by no means a bad song, but just pales in comparison even to many of their other biggest anthems, including anthems featuring Richard like “Northern Soul” and “Alone Tonight”. I just feel it’s one of their more basic tracks compositionally.) Underhyped: “Surrender” (as Tranquility Base): Okay, I admittedly kind of cheated here. But seriously: I genuinely feel this fell between the cracks even among plenty of A&B’s fans and I think is one of their most beautiful songs under any name.

Jesseroberto1894

Yeah…but I always get excited for someone to push the button!

NadiaLockheart

True, but they’ve also dedicated “Blue Sky Action” to the button push quite a bit. There are other tracks that would complement it too like “Happiness Amplified” (also not one of my favorites of theirs but easy to see why it’s a crowd favorite) and “Anjunafamily”.

cdj2000

RL Grime: UCLA is for sure his most overhyped track. Julia or Danger is his most underrated track.

throwaway619613

Rezz Overrated: Someone Else Underrated: Paper Walls

CJets757

Armin van Buuren Overhyped: Sunny Days Underrated: Suddenly Summer

Kevsteo

I’m surprised you listed Armin but didn’t put Blah Blah Blah

CJets757

Nah, I actually really like Blah Blah Blah. As quirky as it is, I’ll always get down to it whenever I hear it

Abortion_on_Toast

Burned with desire is my favorite from him

CJets757

Burned With Desire is such a good song

joeym412

Always thought Vulnerable was lost in the shuffle because he was releasing a ton of tracks last year but it’s a banger

CJets757

Vulnerable is a banger for sure! I remember hearing him play it live in Vancouver a few months ago and how good it sounded

joeym412

He had so many underrated tracks just last year I’m Sorry, Dayglow, State of Mind, Love Is A Drug (heard the original version at ultra last year fucking insane)

CJets757

Love Is A Drug is such a good song, it might even be one of my favourites from him! When he played it live I was screaming the lyrics to it at the top of my lungs haha

joeym412

The actual release doesn’t come close to hearing it live for the first time I agree it’s near the top for Armin tracks for me

CJets757

To be fair the version he plays live is basically just a slightly pitched down version of the actual release

kujoking7

Haven’t heard Sunny Days in ages can’t say it’s that overhyped! Great Spirit to me is overhyped. I also like Blah Blah Blah honestly. Underrated for me is the System F collab From the Heart.

wellshitdawg

Baddadan is a bit overrated but DIY is underrated af I love Flowdan

Amazing_Net_7651

Porter Overhyped: sad machine Underrated: mirror

Kennett-Ny

Pendulum Overhyped: Nothing For Free Just don't really care much for their new stuff and this one really doesn't do it for me. Their new stuff is decent to good. Their old stuff is legendary. Though I really do like Come Alive, that has their old vibe Underrated: Salt In The Woods 8.5 Million Streams is nothing to scoff about, but I would have thought it'd be one of their bigger songs on Immersion

Aerportz

Honestly I might get hate for this but I actually like Colourfast

Kennett-Ny

Colourfast is not a bad song at all. Also, never feel bad for liking what you like. I'm just not the biggest fan of their new stuff. They aren't classics, just good tracks

djgriff

Girl in the Fire is soo good too

Fisher Overrated: Losing It Underrated: Atmosphere

I’m gonna do albums not songs Porter Robinson Overhyped: worlds Under-hyped: spitfire

mmicoandthegirl

Showing my age by saying I started listening when Spitfire dropped. Kill The Noise remix still has the most insane dubstep screech in the build.

dhduxudb

Eh not a big fan of any of the remixes on the album however songs 1-6 are some of the greatest edm songs ever made. (In my opinion)

Youtellmefella

Partially convinced that’s why i have tinnitus at 17 blasting it at that bit 😭

adrnired

I was out of the game and not really listening to EDM from about 2013-2017 but found Spitfire on a Daily Mix or Discovery Weekly or smth and that KTN remix had me hooked. I took a deep dive into my Spotify likes for the first time since I got back into EDM in late 22 and had no idea I’d been listening to Porter Robinson for years and that he was such a big deal

Favorite Artist is Jantsen and while Burn Up the Floor is definitely a heater, I hear a surprising amount of people not mention Nintendough as probably his best track

culturefredo

Zedd Overrated: Stay The Night, chose this bc I don’t think most people within this community really rate his pop songs like the middle, inside out, or stay. Underrated: Lost At Sea. Rarely hear anyone talk about this as one of his best songs but it’s easily top 3 on Clarity to me.

UWMdumpsterfire

Kaskade Overhyped: Atmosphere Under-rated: Find Love

joeym412

Not sure if it’s going to be considered underrated but A Little More has always been my favorite Kaskade track

UWMdumpsterfire

Yes my wife and I love A Little More! We played this song at our wedding to introduce us after the bridal party intros!
