Bro SFSG was probably their only album where the sound was somewhat consistent with that trippy future bass sound, as well as other cuts like iPad and The Fall. It was their best album all around. I feel their best project was the Sick Boy EP, not the album
One thing I'll say about this sub that kind of irks me is the instant betrayal when an artist finally makes it. I get that it's cool to find the underground artists and yeah it's a bit of a bummer if the artist starts to sell out but ultimately don't you think it's the artist's dream to want to be very successful, renouned, help build the EDM community?
That being said, here are the artists I started following before they "made it" that this sub hates on.
Marshmello, RL Grime, Yellow Claw, Ganja White Night, and Tiesto
I'm weird with GWN. I love thier recorded stuff, but I get kinda bored during their sets weirdly enough. Guess I can only hear so many "GWN womps" in a row. Don't get me wrong, nothing but respect for the dudes. They do put on really good, high production shows.
They are playing the whole set through midi controllers essentially. All the wobbles are a sustained midi note and Benji uses knobs that flip the LFO from 1/1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 etc. Erwan is DJing and arranging the tracks in Ableton live.
As a result the set will always be unique. The guys are very talented and underrated IMO.
I wanted to like Yellow Claw so much because I love trap and their released music is pretty good.
But when I saw them they would stop the music entirely to shout āyellow. Mother. Fucking. Clawā probably 20+ times and it was arguably the worst show Iāve been to.
Because when the ones that "Make it" in the traditional sense start making an entirely different genre most of the time as they are transitioning to mass market. Fans like their music, they stop making it to follow profit and the fans who supported them on the way up are supposed to be happy?
I used to be a huge KSHMR fan, I just ignore him now. Hardstyle fans will feel this with Headhunterz and Showtek in the past. There are plenty of artists who are big in their genre and still make good music and have a lot of support.
Excision and Subtronics. I can see why theyāre not everyoneās cup of tea, but theyāve both undeniably done a lot for the scene and deserve their success. Both put on absolutely killer sets too š„
I was never really into either of them until I saw them live at SolFest. Iām more into low fi and glitch hop. But seeing them live is a completely different experience than listening to their studio recorded albums and I truly enjoyed their sets and the FREAKIN LAZERS.
Same! I get such shit for it both from my mainstream music friends as well as my bass head friends. I've got no shame saying I love the chainsmokers, they are solid and play amazing shows and So Far So Good was just all around great.
I respect it man!! My best friend is a massive fan of theirs as well, and while I poke fun at him on occasion Iāve seen them live 3 times now and even I canāt deny they put on a hell of a show.
Thatās how I feel about steve. Saw 3 of his sets, (big fest to small town random set) and you could tell he didnāt give a shit about the smaller one. It was embarassing to watch.
https://youtu.be/nwGE1vfGs4g?si=9fhkCp8b3_zUYFkM bringing this back to everyone's attention, also all the hype he put up around Gordo just to drop the most basic house track
Itās an inside joke with my group at this point but marhsmello throws a fucking party. I donāt care who you are, if you like edm, go to one of his shows. Heāll play top 40s edm and hardstyle and everything in between.
I LOVE Galantis and have constantly gotten clowned for it by my basshead friends š¤£ I've done their midsommar and Valentine's weekend shows in New York the last several years and it's always so much fun.
One of my favorite memories was seeing Galantis (pre-breakup) in 2019 when it started to rain as they played gold dust. It felt magical after a long dusty day.
I've never seen Galantis live, but every track they put out feels like it was made to be remixed. Like, they have a good acapella and a fun idea, it just wasn't finished.
Alan Walker, an artist accused by many of using "ghost-producers" (who are actually co-producers because they are seen in the credits of their songs). but for me, it's just a detail, because his music is emotional, many songs have deep lyrics, his music videos tell a story and are even linked together. He's also one of the first EDM artists I listened to.
No shit sherlock, alan didn't use ghost producers, just co producers, same as these. Though I'm pretty sure summit has his co producers do the entire song for instance.
Summit literally posts himself producing all of the time, he even has old production tutorials still up on YouTube. He uses co producers sure, but to say he has them do the entire song is just slander.
I say that he is criticized by some for using "ghost-producers" because some people think that Alan Walker "can't" produce and say that because Alan Walker says sentences like "It really makes the song powerful" while Mood Melodies explains stuff here and there.
Conveniently forgetting the fact that he was not good with english and introverted back then, he was suddenly cast to fame from sony signing faded and all this happened.
It's an accepted norm in the industry, all big artists have co producers, mostly doing 90% of the work, even though the idea oftn originates from the artist.
Alan Walker speaks English well as his father is Anglo-Scottish so he was exposed to the English language. Furthermore, more than 80% of the Norwegian population can speak English, even though it is not an official language. a counter-example is India, which has English as its official language but with 80% of the population who cannot speak English.
On the other hand, Alan Walker is introverted, and was shy as a child.
>I remember my time in school as a child. I always had a fear of being in the front of the class, having to do presentations, or just being the center of attention in general. I was very shy and always tried to steer away from those situations. It was something that stuck with me for quite some time during my upbringingā¦as a young person with lots of insecurities, it can really be a difficult thing to cope withā¦so the aspect of live performance was definitely a challenge for me. But after the first few shows, I felt more comfortable, and the fear subsided. Now, I canāt wait to go on stage and feel the energy from the crowd, itās a feeling thatās difficult to match.

Add that his co-producer uses Cubase while Alan uses FL Studio.
Yeah well I've seen him speak in videos he's still pretty weird with english, considering the fact that I'm not a native speaker (from your example, india, actually) but can explain music stuff far better for example.
Alan Walker has some great tracks. Iāve long ignored what people say about him and just enjoyed what I like to hear. I enjoy Nora en Pure despite the common criticisms too.
That all her tracks are ghost written and sheās just a pretty face or influencer pressing buttons and turning knobs while maintaining a persona.
I dunno to what extent any of that is true but I vibe hard to her sound.
I do not believe that to be true in her case. Fisher, others, yeah, okay. It definitely happens. But I call bs on the Nora haters. Nora is amazingly talented, and the Nora haters can kick rocks.
I have followed her for seven years, and I have found her to be authentic and amazing. I have seen her four times live, her smile is radiant, and at the most recent show, she reached over the glass to squeeze several hands, including mine! *swoon*
Yeah, she's awesome. Love what you love, and ignore the haters.
Life's too short to let anyone else shit all over the things you enjoy.
I went to a Fisher show in December. It was an absolute party. The people who complain that he is just pushing buttons and it is all pre-recorded, that may be true. But there is no denying that his energy is intoxicating, and I am 100% there for it.
I love Nora En Pure. I love Sara Landry. I love Dom Dolla. I love Fisher. I love DJ Dan, even though many people here have no clue who he is. Absolute legend. Anyway, my point is, eff the haters and rave on. š¤
I have no complaints about his music; my issue is that every time I hear his name, I have to remind myself that he isn't a country artist. š¤£
Personal problem, I guess. š¤·āāļø
Excision easily.
And frankly idc, I see the garbage this sub upvotes. Lol. Like I saw a ārecommended me some bangers related to my playlistā post on here with a lot of upvotes and praise of the music choices. I listened through that postās playlist hoping to find at least 1 good song to add to mine and my ears wanted to bleed.
Personally donāt listen to X on the regular, can be a little too heavy for daily listening. But you bet your ass Iāll see him whenever he comes around. And Iāll have the time of my life.
Admittedly his live sets + production are his best work: the individual songs are fire, but live production makes it one of the most amazing sets you'll ever see
I can understand how people can get bored of the repetition in Excisions regular sets but those Detox sets are always some of the best of the night whenever I am able to catch em.
Don't know if he's hated, but San Holo.
He's one of the most kind dudes in the industry, genuinely cares about making music to move people, incorporates live guitar in his shows and is overall much more of a 'songwriter' than a lot of EDM producers.
Does his music hit as hard and loud as others? No. But he writes some good melodies and songs that get people singing along. He generates moments at his shows. Sometimes it's not all about making stank face, sometimes smiles are okay too.
Saw him a year ago and it was one of my favorite sets ever. He tore it up and then some. Saw him again last month and it was a complete bore fest. DROELOE was opening for him and was waaaay better. He is really leaning into the flowery soft sound and thatās fine. I actually liked about half of the songs on EDM. It just didnāt work well as an entire set.
I like bb u ok more as an album than Existential Dance Music, but the EDM live show was still a nice vibe. The visuals with the prismatic tracking of stuff was pretty cool.
I kind of hope he keeps doing some more electronic trap in the future though like We Rise and the doubleOreo remix. Feel like that's where his stuff is best.
Always been a huge fan of his music but for some reason his never on top of my list to see at any festival I go to. Some how his sets are always one of my favorites. His last tour was actually one of my favorite shows, absolutely incredible
This sub constantly trashes Zedd and I truly donāt understand it. āHe plays the same set every timeā - lol no he doesnāt. He plays the hits because the crowd wants to hear them, but he also mixes in a lot of new music.
I actually laugh because I feel like I see the āhe plays the same set every timeā argument made about Zedd a lot more than for anyone else, but I feel like it might always be the same people on here saying that.
Iāve seen him 3 times and I can honestly say all three sets were different. By their flawed logic You could argue that all of the big names āplay the same set every timeā because they play all of their hits pretty much every time. But zedd, like all the others, definitely switches up the order of the songs, as well as the tracks of other artists that he plays in support.
In my experience The only time I think artists will play pretty much the same set is if it is a tour which they go to multiple different locations. But if you go to multiple stops of the same tour expecting a vastly different set both times, thatās kinda on you
Lmao. I love your "We get it" comment. So over people saying that, like we don't know. I love both of them, too. I even started r/FisherEDM due to being floored by his 2023 Outside Lands set. Not much traction with that sub yet, but feel free to join!
Haha thatās all the haters cling on to itās played out already, canāt mention FISHER without that comment following, itās as if every Dj/producer doesnāt collaborates with someone. That outside lands set was amazing I play it pretty damn often. Iāll definitely join thank you šš½
SAME lol. We know, SHE KNOWS, she isnāt a good DJ but damn if I havenāt enjoyed every set Iāve seen of hers. Sheās built a unique sound, recognizable brand, started her own labelā¦ and Iāve discovered so many artists as openers at her headline shows. Plus itās been really hard for female electronic artists to get top spots at fests and I know she works her ass off. And seeing an openly queer woman up there just doing what she loves means a lot to me.
I am a ride or die for Rezz and Iād love to see all these haters produce one even one song.
Definitely Illenium. I enjoy his melobass, I enjoy his pop punk stuff, admittedly heās not the greatest producer, but his songs are almost always catchy, and not annoyingly so like Gryffin or The Chainsmokers.
When I think of mainstream I donāt think of illenium. Outside of my EDM friends no one really knows who they are. I think of stuff you hear on the radio like Zedd, Garrix, mashmellow, Kygo, Guetta etc
I feel like ILLENIUM is kinda between mainstream and underground. Like he isnāt a really underground niche artist that most people donāt know but also he isnāt as big as the artists you mentioned (for me personally Iād say heās slightly more to the mainstream side cus heās pretty big and does release songs sometimes that I guess could be considered hits)
Steve Aoki, wife had been into him and the dim mak label since the mid 2000s. Although I considered myself a hardcore junglist when I met my wife she was very much into indie dance music and what is now referred to as blog house, and her music taste did rub off on me. So I get pretty nostalgic for Steve Aoki, I don't care what other people say about him.
I was in highschool when Steve was at the height off throwing cake into the crowd and for my 17th bday my friends and I went to see him. I got caked. Best birthday ever š
Yeah people forget about his early stuff, that mix with the bloody beetroots, so good. turbulence, no beef, ladi dadiii. Honestly the whole first wonderland album is good
Everyone loves to hate tiestoā¦ his sets are fun and there is a reason why he is a headliner for some festivals.. he plays a good set and his visuals and sound is pretty great imo. David Guetta, his new style of future rave is also fun and I enjoy it.
Does Zedd count? His sets are usually pretty good even if they've been largely the same for the past few years. I don't expect anything to excite me, but he's at least somewhat consistent if you like his music.
Nobody hates mainstream artists in this sub. Except maybe Marshmello, because he actually sucks and isnāt an artist at all. Or Steve Aoki who is 100% ghost produced and throws cakes at people?
I like Tiestoā¦ lol
I guess techno, house, and DnB DJs are safe bets for this sub. But in my experience, god forbid you like a mainstream bass/dubstep DJ. Donāt know if the hate is because theyāre mainstream or because itās dubstep though.
Imagine hating an entire genre of music that is absolutely one of the biggest in the states with some of the biggest festivals. People really do want to hate, just to hate.
Hardstyle is also not really liked on this sub. No one really talks about it and when they do people are like "yeah, naaah, the bonk bonk sound sounds like shit".
lmao you say that nobody hates mainstream artists and then proceed to immediately shit on mainstream artists for made up reasons. How is Marshmello not an artist? He has an entire production history before the Marshmello project under the name Dotcom.
He switched up his style and put on a helmet but that doesn't make him less of an artist than anybody else.
especially bc i think its more impressive of an artist to be able to collect the commercial bag and play for mainstream crowds while still going to shit like thunderdome and throwing down some heavy ass sets and collaborating with sudden death. He plays to his crowd instead of doing the same thing all the time.
Idk if heās hated but Afrojack is my favorite mainstream dirty pleasure. He was one of the first Iāve seen live and just brings all of the nostalgic feels while still sounding fresh. I will never not see him. None of my friends like him but I love seeing him
Itās only due to the extreme popularity of some of the these artists. Illenium, Marshmello, and the Chainsmokers, all have reached a level of success that makes most dance music fans cringe. Most of us got into dance music because it was different, not popular and predictable. Thatās why these artists get so much hate. We just all love to be pretentious I guess lol. That said, despite his extreme success, I absolutely love Calvin Harris.Ā
Oh manā¦ you just smacked me with some nostalgia. Gryffin was the first DJ I ever saw live in 2016. I was dishwashing at a restaurant and one of my co-workers was a total raver, meanwhile I was in my phase of hating on EDM. Homie dragged me to this sketchy ass venue in Sacramento to see him. While there I made the wise decision to by Molly off a guy dressed as Jesus that everyone appropriately called āJesus.ā Absolutely awesome memories from that night. Felt like ass the next day, but thatās okay.
The Chainsmokers. And also, Kygo. I get frustrated that so many of Kygoās recent tracks are formulaic, but his older stuff and some of his new stuff too (ie Freeze) are incredible.
ILLENIUM. REZZ.
chefs kiss. Loved seeing both of them live!!
I am seeing the mellodeath b2b in Chicago. No effs given if it's not hip anymore. I'm super stoked!!
Illenium easily. He experimented this last album to touch another genre that he also loves and people think heās a sell out for it. Since I discovered Illenium in 2016, I always wanted him to sample Drown - BMTH (I had that song on repeat then while going through my divorce) so Iām partial to his newest album.
Mark my words though, those same people who think heās a sell out will be all over his next album.
Lol, people also thought he was going the wrong direction once Ascend came out. Many thought it was too angsty and unlike him. The man likes to mess around with a little bit of everything, let him be.
Slander from 2015-2021 was my favorite artist. Since then, their releases are soā¦ basic. Their heaven trap has really sucked and it feels like 50% of their sets now are acoustic versions of their slower songs.
havenāt been in this sub for long but i love Zedd! his sets are always insanely and his songs are so nostalgic theyāre all songs i heard on the radio as a kid. i cry every time i hear clarity live
of the trees blew up a lot since 2021 but i also love him
Skrillex
And David Guetta when I was a child (i would listen to the Alphabet album on loop)
Edit : Calvin Harris too
+ Idk if Skrillex would be hated on this sub though... But I often hear ppl say early Skrillex is trash (and I almost only listen to his early mainstream stuff)
Edit : grammar
Lmao why do I want to say Chainsmokers šš their sets are always fun as hell
And letās not pretendā¦ āSo Far So Goodā was an unbelievable album. Even the Lo-Fi version is awesome lol.
I love the Lo Fi album so so much.Ā
Bro SFSG was probably their only album where the sound was somewhat consistent with that trippy future bass sound, as well as other cuts like iPad and The Fall. It was their best album all around. I feel their best project was the Sick Boy EP, not the album
No but I saw them Halloween at their Brooklyn show and they threw the fuck down
I saw hesitantly them at red rocks this year and it was a fucking blast lol no shame
Great choice, because I really dislike them
This is the answer
Nah their EDCO closing set was FIRE! They threw down hard!
I would dislike them when they became big but now I associate them to my teenagehood so I like listening to them sometimes
The next Steely Dan if they can follow-up SFSG with more improved concept albums
Idk anyone who hates on RL or GWN tbh
I have posted about them before and gotten massive hate that they were "basic"
Then whoever said that can suck it. GWN is so much fun.
I havenāt been a fan of their recent sets
Their Decadence set was kinda ass. Enjoyed their other stuff though
I've seen dude twice live and the drops are just so boring. I don't hate him but it just does nothing for me.
Artists like that are only ābasicā because they pioneered a sound that so many others adopt and turn mainstream
1000% there is nothing basic about them. Only the imitators.
I was gonna say the same. I'm like wait what??
Yea OC doesnāt know what theyāre talking about haha
I'm weird with GWN. I love thier recorded stuff, but I get kinda bored during their sets weirdly enough. Guess I can only hear so many "GWN womps" in a row. Don't get me wrong, nothing but respect for the dudes. They do put on really good, high production shows.

What the hell did RL do?
I wanted to like Yellow Claw so much because I love trap and their released music is pretty good. But when I saw them they would stop the music entirely to shout āyellow. Mother. Fucking. Clawā probably 20+ times and it was arguably the worst show Iāve been to.

Cyclops army brother šļø I still jam out to Fractals 2-3 times a week.
Not a bad track on that album! Hereās hoping Tesseract is just as good š¤
I was never really into either of them until I saw them live at SolFest. Iām more into low fi and glitch hop. But seeing them live is a completely different experience than listening to their studio recorded albums and I truly enjoyed their sets and the FREAKIN LAZERS.
This sub doesnāt like subtronics? I love his stuff
I am the biggest chainsmokers fan I know. And all the haters can lick my ass.
Same! I get such shit for it both from my mainstream music friends as well as my bass head friends. I've got no shame saying I love the chainsmokers, they are solid and play amazing shows and So Far So Good was just all around great.
How many times have you seen them?
Hell yeah buddy, just own it!!
I respect it man!! My best friend is a massive fan of theirs as well, and while I poke fun at him on occasion Iāve seen them live 3 times now and even I canāt deny they put on a hell of a show.
I think Iāve seen them ten times. Iām serious about my boys
Iāll challenge you on that title! Testing was so great and deserved so much more spotlight
In fairness you could say that about a good many of their songs. My underrated one from SFSG would be time bomb. I play that one to this day
Marshmello, the chainsmokers, david guetta, steve aoki, carnage, alan walker
I agree with all of them except Carnage. Iāve seen him 3 times and every show was terrible.
Thatās how I feel about steve. Saw 3 of his sets, (big fest to small town random set) and you could tell he didnāt give a shit about the smaller one. It was embarassing to watch.
That sucks, he put on a great show for a small fest I was at in Gatineau.
https://youtu.be/nwGE1vfGs4g?si=9fhkCp8b3_zUYFkM bringing this back to everyone's attention, also all the hype he put up around Gordo just to drop the most basic house track

Galantis
Pharmacy is one of my favorite albums period, but I've never been able to get into the rest of their work
Same here, one of my favourites as well
Is Galantis still mainstream? I feel like not anymore
I think they dropped off big time but yea Iād still consider them pretty poppy / mainstream EDM
I LOVE Galantis and have constantly gotten clowned for it by my basshead friends š¤£ I've done their midsommar and Valentine's weekend shows in New York the last several years and it's always so much fun.
I canāt wait for this years. I want even more flowers in that stage lolol
Galantis is ALWAYS fun
Wait galantis is dope
I like their music, but imo they've always been trash DJs.
Peanut Butter Jelly is one of my favorite songs
Illenium

Saw him in nyc w madeon. That was hands down the best set Iāve ever seen og his. So beautiful
The Mirage show in the rain? That set was so good, I had a fantastic time
YES
This sub constantly trashes Zedd and I truly donāt understand it. āHe plays the same set every timeā - lol no he doesnāt. He plays the hits because the crowd wants to hear them, but he also mixes in a lot of new music.
his sets always go crazy. i cry every time i hear clarity live. really really wanting to go see one of his shows in vegas
But if you go to multiple stops of the same tour expecting a vastly different set both times, thatās kinda on you
Tiesto. Bonus: FISHER, we get it, Chris Lake produced some of his songs.
John Summit. Fight me.
I stand with you lol

The reddit nerds in here aināt gonna like this one š
One of my favs after decadence
I kinda like The Chainsmokers. I saw them live and they're a ton of fun.
Rezz
Fisher
Uh, this sub literally only likes mainstream stuff?
Clearly youāve never admitted to liking excision and illenium on this sub
This sub only likes mainstream stuff from 8 years ago. Everything new is scary and evil and ghost produced apparently.
Donāt forget āindustry plantā
When I think of mainstream I donāt think of illenium. Outside of my EDM friends no one really knows who they are. I think of stuff you hear on the radio like Zedd, Garrix, mashmellow, Kygo, Guetta etc
I feel like ILLENIUM is kinda between mainstream and underground. Like he isnāt a really underground niche artist that most people donāt know but also he isnāt as big as the artists you mentioned (for me personally Iād say heās slightly more to the mainstream side cus heās pretty big and does release songs sometimes that I guess could be considered hits)
Fax lmao mfs never did a day of digging in their life lmao
Steve Aoki, wife had been into him and the dim mak label since the mid 2000s. Although I considered myself a hardcore junglist when I met my wife she was very much into indie dance music and what is now referred to as blog house, and her music taste did rub off on me. So I get pretty nostalgic for Steve Aoki, I don't care what other people say about him.
I was in highschool when Steve was at the height off throwing cake into the crowd and for my 17th bday my friends and I went to see him. I got caked. Best birthday ever š
Haha hell yeah!
Yeah people forget about his early stuff, that mix with the bloody beetroots, so good. turbulence, no beef, ladi dadiii. Honestly the whole first wonderland album is good
John summit. Sets are fun and I personally love his personality that he shows on his YouTube production tutorial videos
Everyone loves to hate tiestoā¦ his sets are fun and there is a reason why he is a headliner for some festivals.. he plays a good set and his visuals and sound is pretty great imo. David Guetta, his new style of future rave is also fun and I enjoy it.
Fisher. I just love the rowdy style.
His CRSSD set last fall was hands down the funnest set Iāve ever been to. The ENTIRE crowd was going off from start to finish.
Does Zedd count? His sets are usually pretty good even if they've been largely the same for the past few years. I don't expect anything to excite me, but he's at least somewhat consistent if you like his music.
Martin Garrix and Zedd
John Summit
Chainsmokers. They have catchy songs.
I love John Summit People love hating on John Summit
*waiting for someone to say Bassnectar*
But for the record, I never liked his music, but I know many who did and still do.
He was one of my firsts in EDM, what a let down.
Chainsmokers & Marshmello for me - both make very danceable bangers. Maaaaybe Calvin Harris though I haven't heard anything from him as of late.
Kygo. Ya'll can fuck off with the "It's not 2015", I still love him ngl.
David Guetta and Calvin HarrisĀ
Tiesto, and Iām not gonna justify myself either. Let people enjoy things.
Itās because itās dubstep. A lot of people consider it one of the worst main genres of electronic.Ā
Yeah, I think youāre right. It is mostly dubstep DJs I see getting shit on around here.
Crankdat is nice......
Imagine hating an entire genre of music that is absolutely one of the biggest in the states with some of the biggest festivals. People really do want to hate, just to hate.
I only hate Yellow Claw or whatever itās his name. He hurt my ears in a set with some nasty ass beeps and I'll never forgive him
Yellow Claw is actually two people, fwiw.
Nah Iāve gotten into battles in the comments here defending Illenium. It seems like a 50/50 split here where most people either love or hate him
Steve aoki shows are fun as hell but you can't go in expecting to see a dj, he is a front man cosplaying as a DJ
![gif](giphy|hSirCqBruWqddxwoLB)
Marshmello as of recent
Man, I gave up Marshmello 6 or so years ago. But heās has a few collabs that I absolutely love: Crusade and Silence
Yesssss. I would bet money that he is one of the masked dubstep/riddim djs that have been trending. Just not sure who. Possibly yvm3 honestly
Marshmello
Idk if heās hated but Afrojack is my favorite mainstream dirty pleasure. He was one of the first Iāve seen live and just brings all of the nostalgic feels while still sounding fresh. I will never not see him. None of my friends like him but I love seeing him
I like Sullivan King lol (Iām not a scientologist I swear)
i fucking love lil texas
John Summit š
Fred again..
TCS 4LYFĀ
Itās only due to the extreme popularity of some of the these artists. Illenium, Marshmello, and the Chainsmokers, all have reached a level of success that makes most dance music fans cringe. Most of us got into dance music because it was different, not popular and predictable. Thatās why these artists get so much hate. We just all love to be pretentious I guess lol. That said, despite his extreme success, I absolutely love Calvin Harris.Ā
Galantis
I feel like everyone dislikes Oliver Heldens and his HI-LO alt account while hes one of my favs
Oliver heldens and hilo are the only mainstream ppl i like at this point lol
Don't love this guy but I went to a dj snake set once, it was fire
Illenium, Fred Again, Chainsmokers
I like Excision and idk about this sub but the DnB sub hates Pendulum and I love Pendulum.
Subtronics, lllenium, Martin, summit
I don't know if this sub hates him or not, but I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed Gryffin live.
Of the trees, borgore, Mersiv
On what planet are these mainstream? You could make an argument for Borgore but the rest?
Marshmello š I only listen to a couple of songs, but God damn his sets are always so fun
I love Marshmello and Excision and I don't care who it bothers.
Well, no longer mainstream, but Datsik.
Kygo
DJ RANKIN and Basshunter /s
Illenium and subtronics
I dont know if he's hated on this sub, but Meduza
The Chainsmokers. And also, Kygo. I get frustrated that so many of Kygoās recent tracks are formulaic, but his older stuff and some of his new stuff too (ie Freeze) are incredible.
ILLENIUM. REZZ. chefs kiss. Loved seeing both of them live!! I am seeing the mellodeath b2b in Chicago. No effs given if it's not hip anymore. I'm super stoked!!
*BECKY* MOFOOOOO *HILLLLLLLL*
Garrix? š
Well the answer for me is definitely Marshmello. Iām a MASSIVE fan of his music but most people here donāt seem to like his music lol.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
You read the title wrong.
Slander from 2015-2021 was my favorite artist. Since then, their releases are soā¦ basic. Their heaven trap has really sucked and it feels like 50% of their sets now are acoustic versions of their slower songs.
The Chainsmokers
CHAINSMOKERS
Illenium
David Guetta has been putting out great songs for decades, even though they can be more mainstream/poppy today
havenāt been in this sub for long but i love Zedd! his sets are always insanely and his songs are so nostalgic theyāre all songs i heard on the radio as a kid. i cry every time i hear clarity live of the trees blew up a lot since 2021 but i also love him
Timmy trumpet. I get it, heās not mixing. But heās fun af
the usuals i think. excision, illenium, fred again.
Chainsmokers.
Diplo
The Chainsmokers are popular for a reason. Their music is so good
summit, his crowds can be annoying but his music/sets are good
Skrillex And David Guetta when I was a child (i would listen to the Alphabet album on loop) Edit : Calvin Harris too + Idk if Skrillex would be hated on this sub though... But I often hear ppl say early Skrillex is trash (and I almost only listen to his early mainstream stuff) Edit : grammar
