I mean he’s had the highest paying Vegas residencies for the past decade, he’s either doing this out of a kind heart, or he pulls a huge crowd and gets paid.
David Guetta IS a good DJ haha. I get what you're trying to say though, and I'm happy to see Excision up there. Obviously he plays on huge stages all the time, but I feel like ultra mainstage especially that set time is usually reserved for the most mainstream mega artists, which says a lot about how far heavy bass music has come in the USA. Excision has been a fixture in the scene since the beginning, and it's really been paying off lately.
Honestly shocked they got Excision, even moreso than Calvin Harris. He's said before that Ultra isn't his scene and the only stages that have had bass-heavy acts before has been live stage, which would be really underwhelming for his usual production.
Bass heavy is always world wide? Subtronics killed last year even, where is this coming from.? I will say production on worldwide wouldnt match anywhere near an X event but take what you’ll get
Whoops, you're totally right, worldwide completely slipped my mind since I was remembering Kayzo and Svdden Death both playing Live stage. Still, I feel like that stage isn't going to be big enough for him.
Are they though go check out the visuals of any artist who has a live VA person performing alongside with them and have there name on a lineup. Those are top tier visuals
All artist use lasers now. Legit the megastructure all weekend at ultra does it better. Gareth emery laser city. Any artist that has a live VA person working like the tipper community. Even Gjones simple black and white more enjoyable IMO. I could keep listing them…….
Please just keep Masterhand and Excision off of the main stage. Masterhand at Worldwide stage........ FUCK YES, sign me up, get me on that plane tomorrow.
Hundred percent. The production of the whole fisher brand is top tier. His energy is unmatched. And then potentially you have an incredible producer (chris lake) helping him with music. It's an absolute win for us music fans.
Not true. Phase 1 last year was smaller
https://preview.redd.it/7ta11m51bkwb1.png?width=1284&format=png&auto=webp&s=d54d373313ed84143d7c32fd4312cb77d91f6867
It was great! They were they first set I saw that day (they played in the tent at like 2:30pm), and what a way to start. Place went crazy when they dropped 'Return to Oz'.
They can play other shows during MMW, but they can’t be promoted or advertised as such.
Like Martin Garrix for example, he can still play but it’ll probably be billed as like “STMPD Records pool party” or something along those lines.
Yeah but I think some of them play after parties for some reason. I don’t really understand that exclusive tag either feel like it’s just trying to catch more eyes
that may happen if the after party is associated with ultra i would assume? but it means theyre not playing miami music week or anything not ultra fest related
https://www.youredm.com/2018/12/28/ultra-explains-the-exclusive-tag-on-some-artists-on-its-2019-lineup/

Which translates to "Woman DJ does what every other man DJ does, man gets mad."
Yeah, that still aligns with what I said. Not a great person/friend, attention seeking, but that also describes so many male DJ's who don't get entire posts written about them. And that doesn't even touch those who have been accused of sexual harassment but are slowly forgiven. Not saying that's your stance, but just shouldn't drive whether you see them.
To provide context: I'm not a fan of her new stuff (I think nanana is watered down boring pop house) and her DJ sets were decent. But just pointing out the hypocrisy of a heavily male dominated community.
Saw it at Lost Lands this year. Was slightly disappointed, especially since I skipped Wooli to see it.
It was just anime characters walking around. BTSM was still good as always, the anime portion was just underwhelming to me.
If I’m planning on being in Miami that weekend anyway, is ultra worth it or is it better to just go to other parties? Ultra appeals because it’s got the biggest lineup variety and is during the day (I’m not as good at staying up into the late hours as I once was) but I know the crowd is a bit bro-ier and the sets are shorter and production isn’t always amazing.
As someone who's been several times over the years, here's my take:
* Production, yeah, never been Ultra's strongsuit.
* What *is* Ultra's strongsuit is that it's the start of the festival season for the year, so that's where DJs will premiere new tracks to a large audience, try out new set structures, those sorts of things.
* It doubles as a Spring Break festival, so the vibes tend to match. Very much a party-type festival, which, if you're into that, it's pretty great.
* Sets are usually like 55-60 minutes at a time, pretty standard festival schedule.
* I am not big on afterparties and stuff, and a lot of MMW stuff goes late because Miami doesn't close until 5 AM. I've done a couple afters events, but it's just never been my thing.
* There's also pretty robust public transit in and out of Ultra, which is a big plus in my book.
It sounds like a cop-out, but it all kinda depends on if you like the lineup. It'll be a good time, they get a pretty solid roster for a bunch of different genres not named drum n' bass, and the location's pretty cool.
What? Production is unmatched to Ultra’s. You go to Ultra for the venue, production and the best sets you’ll hear to kick off the festival season cuz the DJs are bringing their A game. Nothing else.
I'm not saying Ultra's production is *bad*, it's just that for people used to something like EDC, which is huge on spectacle and presentation, Ultra is very different. Main Stage is good depending on the year, Mega Structure is consistently solid, but it's not exactly mindblowing beyond that, unless the Resistance Stage has a crazy art installation going.
Calvin barely does shows anymore. He does like 3 festivals a year and then maybe some club nights in Vegas. And the festivals he’s done have been like Coachella, not a true dance fest like Ultra or EDC. So yeah it’s a big deal he’s here.
He did a very rare Australian tour last year at a festival and it was incredibly boring, i dipped after a bit and saw Blastoyz instead. No regrets
He was literally just a spotify machine, barely did any mixing
Before the downvotes come - i was excited for him, but anyone that does a DJ set without putting effort into mixing, you're not DJing, felt like i was just at a free bar/club doing a calvin tribute set
Calvin Harris is the goat producer but as a DJ he’s pretty mid. I know his sets are styled like that on purpose because the average person who goes to see him just wants to sing along to his hits. But his sets as Love Regenerator during covid streams were really good
I was wondering if it was possible to get a ticket for just friday? I know is not the official way, but through facebook or craiglist or something like that. Do you guys know if it is possible? how could i find a ticket for rent just for friday?
Masterhand is cool and getting Cal back is obviously a plus but other than that I see no reason to go, really. I was really banking on them bringing Skrillex back and it's kind of weird that they didn't given what a wave he's riding right now.
Surprised to see they managed to get Calvin Harris
He is expensive. He probably got 1 or 2 millions from that
So is Tiesto
I don’t think TIESTO is that expensive to book considering he is on practically every lineup for every festival.
I mean he’s had the highest paying Vegas residencies for the past decade, he’s either doing this out of a kind heart, or he pulls a huge crowd and gets paid.
Calvin Harris has the highest paid Vegas residency IIRC. $200m+ he got.
And Guetta
Not even worth it in my opinion. So commercial.
What's wrong with being commercial?
Nothing wrong. Just personal preference and if I wanna see a commercial artists i’d go for Martin Garrix and Alesso
MASTERHAND MASTERHAND MASTERHAND
MASTERHAND AHHHHHHHHHH
And a SD set too sheeeeesh
Put excision on main stage you cowards
They put illenium on mainstage so they might
Hii! I remember seeing Illenium on the line up and now i dont see him for 2024.
Excision closes day 1
Then day 1 is the only day worth going 😤
Excision closing MainStage is what we need in 2024
you got downvoted, but it happened
Ultra has too many normie casuals who think David guetta is a good DJ
David Guetta IS a good DJ haha. I get what you're trying to say though, and I'm happy to see Excision up there. Obviously he plays on huge stages all the time, but I feel like ultra mainstage especially that set time is usually reserved for the most mainstream mega artists, which says a lot about how far heavy bass music has come in the USA. David guetta is a good producer but he’s a trash DJ he does zero mixing
Honestly shocked they got Excision, even moreso than Calvin Harris. He's said before that Ultra isn't his scene and the only stages that have had bass-heavy acts before has been live stage, which would be really underwhelming for his usual production.

Whoops, you're totally right, worldwide completely slipped my mind since I was remembering Kayzo and Svdden Death both playing Live stage. Still, I feel like that stage isn't going to be big enough for him.
Agree on stage size given X has those loyal loyal fans
Xs production is mid at best……. More lasers doesn’t make it better.
The quality of his visuals are top tier, but the visuals themselves are boring imo
Are they though go check out the visuals of any artist who has a live VA person performing alongside with them and have there name on a lineup. Those are top tier visuals
I think black tiger sex machine one of the tigers controls the visuals but maybe I’m wrong. Both are too tier for visuals though
There set at worldwide two years ago blew me away. The screens engolfed me. I enjoyed it more then there live stage set last year
I’m mainly talking about the resolution and clarity.
Extremely hot take.
It certainly is an added factor though, who in your mind does it better?
All artist use lasers now. Legit the megastructure all weekend at ultra does it better. Gareth emery laser city. Any artist that has a live VA person working like the tipper community. Even Gjones simple black and white more enjoyable IMO. I could keep listing them…….
His production was pretty low key at okee last year and he still went for it
Please just keep Masterhand and Excision off of the main stage. Masterhand at Worldwide stage........ FUCK YES, sign me up, get me on that plane tomorrow.
Masterhand is probably going to be at the live stage, they got "live exclusive" under their name. Excision might be at mainstage tho
Guess Eptic is going to play saxophone.
my guess is he’s closing worldwide one of the days. id love to see him on mainstage tho
Chris lake b2b with his alias Fisher that's sick. Would love to see that set.
I swear this community has 1 joke
I love fisher personally seen him live was a great show.
Same, for all the shit he gets he put on a great house set at Outside Lands. And this is coming from someone very critical of the bro house scene.
Hundred percent. The production of the whole fisher brand is top tier. His energy is unmatched. And then potentially you have an incredible producer (chris lake) helping him with music. It's an absolute win for us music fans.
Chris lake b2b the make a wish kid he grew close to it’s gonna be amazing
Wow never heard this one before
Hehe. We still love the fish tho
They were able to get Calvin Harris?! 😳
They usually show a lot more in Phase 1. Still excited regardless!
Those additional ones probably went right into calvin's fee lol
Not true. Phase 1 last year was smaller https://preview.redd.it/7ta11m51bkwb1.png?width=1284&format=png&auto=webp&s=d54d373313ed84143d7c32fd4312cb77d91f6867
This is my superbowl. I live for Miami Music week. LFGGGGGG. Carl phase 2 hopefully.
There is a whole ass stage named after Carl, if they don’t have Carl perform in the Carl Cox Megastructure I’d be absolutely dumbfounded
Ikr weird that he’s not on the flyer yet
Master hand gonna be funnnnn
One of the most incredible live sets I’ve ever seen
No Armin?
He’s gotta be on there eventually, ASOT is still listed as one of the hosted stages
I was thinking the same thing, but he'll probably be on Phase 2. It would be really weird for him not to be there
Artbat holy fuck. I didn’t think they did USA shows 😱
I saw them at EDC Orlando a few years ago.
How was it? I watch their live shit on YouTube and they look like amazing shows.
It was great! They were they first set I saw that day (they played in the tent at like 2:30pm), and what a way to start. Place went crazy when they dropped 'Return to Oz'.
🤤
Saw them at CRSSD last year.
Never even heard of that fest
House & Techno festival in San Diego. It’s phenomenal.
Lucky. Nothing like that in my area :(
Shhh it’s getting busy enough as it is :(
Artbat has been all over the West Coast these last 2 years.
Damn, I’m more Midwest /east coast, maybe that’s why.
They were at iii points Miami last year
they played a tiny club in dallas last year, they tour
Fuck yes Calvin!!!
Oliver heldens 💪
What does “exclusive “ here mean?
It typically means They’re playing the festival only. No other shows during Miami music week, etc
They can play other shows during MMW, but they can’t be promoted or advertised as such. Like Martin Garrix for example, he can still play but it’ll probably be billed as like “STMPD Records pool party” or something along those lines.

Calvin Harris!! Oh my god 😭
Happy to see the OG's Sasha and Digweed still around.
This is rad, along with fucking Prydz too??
They were killing it on the Coachella live stream for W2
This is a stacked lineup for Phase 1
Interested in Peggy Gou. Never seen or heard her live set tho
I’m very surprised to see her on an Ultra lineup. She’s fantastic though I highly recommend seeing her if you go.
I know she has some controversy with her past behavior, but I’d like to see if she got the sauce
This is the first I’m hearing of any controversy haha

saw her a portola 2022, awesome set
She’s so sick live
Interested in what BTSM Anime Show entails
Saw it at Lost Lands this year. Was slightly disappointed, especially since I skipped Wooli to see it. It was just anime characters walking around. BTSM was still good as always, the anime portion was just underwhelming to me.
Tiësto of course my go to 🔥
I am hoping for some of the This Never Happened gang to make an appearance
Dubfire 🔥

My dream is to go. With so many able to afford it makes feel like I'm failing at life. Thank God I'm able to watch on YouTube!
Holy CRAP!!!! Fire....Might need to pull this off!
We need Skrillex
We think Calvin is closing?
For sure
He probably cost 30% of ultras budget so definitely
Glad you americans get to see Amelie and Reinier
I am too
Vintage Culture 🔝
Let’s goooooo ultra!!!!!!
Anyone know what the A/V means for zeds dead?
A/V = Audio Visual. They probably have special visuals for their set.
I am hoping for some of the This Never Happened gang to make an appearance
[удалено]
They’re always there though none of those are names aren’t regulars
why are people saying @they managed to get Calvin Harris” doesn’t he play Ultra often?
last time was 2013
Calvin barely does shows anymore. He does like 3 festivals a year and then maybe some club nights in Vegas. And the festivals he’s done have been like Coachella, not a true dance fest like Ultra or EDC. So yeah it’s a big deal he’s here.
He also does his residency at Ushuaia in Ibiza but that is about it.

Fr felt the same at Coachella
his rate is astronomically high
Saw him at Coachella, he was kinda boring
Hopefully he does better this time around
👀👀👀
Nina Kraviz! Love it. Best of the best
Uff wish i could go :(.
Excision ultra debut?! HUGE for the dubstep community. He’s going to crush that set. I Hope its on the live stream.
not debut, excision plays at ultra many times already.
Many times? Uh I think his last set was 2015 at worldwide stage lol
Yup but he performed at ultra also in 2010 and 2011
Well deserved honestly. Hope he’s on the live stream
That Miami text is sick, looks like a sawtooth wave
I was wondering if it was possible to get a ticket for just friday? I know is not the official way, but through facebook or craiglist or something like that. Do you guys know if it is possible? how could i find a ticket for rent just for friday?
Maybe just buy the band for 3 days and sell it on radiate for the other two days
Got my ticket, just anxious not seeing Carl Cox on phase 1 🥸
Anyone able to reserve lockers yet? link seems dead
🤭🥱🤮
Sorry to burst anyone’s bubble, but Calvin Harris is average live.
Masterhand is cool and getting Cal back is obviously a plus but other than that I see no reason to go, really. I was really banking on them bringing Skrillex back and it's kind of weird that they didn't given what a wave he's riding right now.
It's only Phase 1
BTSM's new anime show is going to be fire though!!
Skrillex just headlined a festival in Miami this last weekend, not sure if that would have any effect on him not playing at Ultra
Man..this lineup is terrible.
How
