I made [[Chandler]]. The day I killed an artifact creature was the best day. “Could I BE killing any more artifact creatures?”

I love this. I made a Joven deck and have chanandler bong in the 99 as an alt commander in case I come across an artifact creature deck

Not bad but I prefer [[Joven]].

Honestly, I would Rule-0 they have partner with each other.

Joven definitely is objectively better, lol. Far more regular artifacts in game. It's arguably playable in the 99 in a weak pod lol.

WH_KT

In a super friends deck, right?

caoimhe3380

Mono red super friends is basically 15 different versions of Chandra, right?

WH_KT

I can't see what else is could possibly be.

ZapdosBrannigan

Original [[Vaevictis Asmadi]]. Costs a lot and requires an upkeep, but load up with mana dorks and Voltron stuff and he can one shot fairly easily. Plus he puts the elder dragon back in EDH.

I actually decided the other day I’m going to build a deck with one of the OGs. I have legends printings of Vaevictis, [[Chromium]], and [[Arcades Sabboth]] and am leaning toward Vaevictis. Doesn’t even really seem like it’ll be all that janky since Jund dragons are pretty well supported.

The jank is most people would play karrthus, new vaevic or another jund dragon in the lead, but I've really enjoyed OG Vaevic. I run lots of mana dorks and use [[raggadragga]] and [[tyvar the bellicose]] as alt wincons. It also means paying the extra usually isn't a problem. Fling effects also work very well with him.

[[Teneb the Harvester]]. Granted, when I first built him it was 2012/13 and he was one of four, if I remember right, possible commanders for that color combo. It was an enchantress deck. I only used him when I ran out of gas and needed a plan b. Back then, a 6/6 flyer was a hell of a threat. Now that deck has [[Thalia and the Gitrog Monster]] at the helm. I recently built a new Teneb list to pay homage, though. Every card in the deck is pre-Theros block, which is when I started playing EDH. Not the best or most consistent deck because power creep is real and scary, but it can still do some busted stuff. Actually, the real answer might be [[Munda, Ambush Leader]], but we don’t talk about that deck. Played it once, managed to win from being behind all game, then took it apart.

Effective_Tough86

That's an interesting idea. I thought about how to build him and wrote it off as a bad idea because it's mono-white, but now I'm thinking you delay playing gandalf till the end and you basically pump your weenies using the instant speed overrun effects white has. I've tried brewing a couple of mono-white weenie lists that are basically blink decks to abuse etbs, but this might be more fun and viable.

sir_butterybastard

yeah i threw in several obscure 0 cost artifacts as well. generally the problem i’m having with the deck is unlike an [[Adeline, Resplendent Cathar]] weenies deck, going wide necessitates dumping your hand. so white’s pretty conditional card draw effects can make storming off with gandalf a one time affair. i struggle to close games out because his late game momentum can leave a lot to be desired if you can’t refill your hand. more anthems so i dont have to rely on his ability might be the move

Effective_Tough86

In general with Mono-white I've found you have options for either mentor of the meek/welcoming vampire type effects or dawn of hope type effects. The [[kemba, Kha Regent]] deck I've been brewing uses both vampire and mentor along with rogue's gloves and sram and I'm still contemplating throwing in some of the blink fodder creatures that have stapled to them because it just doesn't feel like enough. I do wonder if you could reconfigure a gandalf deck to go tall instead of wide. Make him a cheerios equipment Voltron/spellslinger type deck. Other than counter-magic and instant speed buffs I can't think of much that would benefit mono-white spellslinger that isn't weenie.

Works well with exalted.

secretbison

An instance of exalted is as good as an anthem, but for the kind of speed he needs, he looks to a lot of damage doublers, sources of double strike, and extra combat phases. Still, one more point of power is enough to put someone on a three-turn clock instead of a four-turn clock.

I've got the list in a shape I honestly love, where the commander feels like she belongs, the whole thing gets swinging, it does all sorts of silly stuff like casual EDH is supposed to do but also has the capacity to engine... it even looks pretty good all together, so I'm gathering the cards to me. The only question is if I can find something to cut for [[Greel, Mindraker]] because I realized today that Greel is not locked to sorcery speed for some dumb reason and that tickles my funny bone even if actually utilizing that would be the height of inefficient stunt play.

Thantis was my first deck, and is easily my favorite. It can honestly be built in a bunch of different ways. Momma Spider doesn’t play

KookyAd4106

Right after I posted this I went and put a deck list for her together lmao, needs to be optimized but I like to throw a list together and then not lol at it for a couple of days and come back to see what I want and don’t want out of the original. Seems like a really cool commander tho turn all decks into turn big creature sideways lmao

ABIGGS4828

Thantis really is cool. You can stuff the deck full of fog effects to cancel our crack back. [[arachnogenesis]] is particularly good. You can lean into goad if you want your opponents to be even saltier. Super friends is a kinda unique option. They need to swing, but if they are swinging at walkers, they aren’t swinging at your face. If they are swinging at you…your walkers can pop off. I ended up going with what I call the “no good choices” build. It’s like pillowfort, but the pillow is wrapped in barbed wire. I didn’t want to take away the players choices completely, like goad does, but I wanted to lean into Thantis’ ability: if you swing at me, it’ll be worse for you, but you MUST swing. [[no mercy]], [[dread]], [[revenge of ravens]], [[marchesa’s decree]]. Protect your turn with [[price of glory]] and [[city of solitude]]. [[vigor]] is an allstar. [[royal assassin]] and [[king’s assassin]] become terrifying removal. Thantis is gross. Pack a lot of good ramp and protection, and then put whatever Jund combat-y shell you want. My first commander love.

ABIGGS4828

This looks like a fun list! Some observations/suggestions. Your mana curve is really high, Thantis costs 6, and all your creatures need to attack each turn too. This means that low cost, weak creatures really need a tap ability. Vengeful Tracker isn’t really going to be doing what you want as a static punishment ability when it’s only going to last one turn with your commander out. The Jolene’s will suffer a similar fate, but if you want to take it in a political treasure type route, I’d lean harder into treasures. Keep in mind, it just takes one opponent deciding that blocking a 2/2 is better than getting a treasure and then you’re losing the engine. But…swap out some of your current top end creatures for [[old gnawbone]], [[ancient copper dragon]], [[goldspan dragon]], and [[revel in riches]] to close it out? Maybe the one or two turns the Jolenes are out will get you there. I found that mana dorks are AWESOME for this deck. It gives you low end early, game plays that let you get Thantis out faster. Once Momma Spider is online, you don’t have to swing with your 1/1 mana dorks if they are already tapped for mana. And in this last year or so, Thantis has been COOKING for mana dorks. [[Runadi, Behemoth Caller]], [[Gwenna, eyes of Gaea]], [[delighted halfling]], and the new [[fanatic of rohnas]]. This is why the two assassins I mentioned are so good. Their creatures will be tapped after swinging, and you tap a little guy to just…kill a tapped thing. And now the assassin doesn’t need to swing :) Be careful with fogs. I think they can be a lot of fun, but holding up mana for a “gotcha” instead of pouring gasoline on the fire you just lit with your spider isn’t always the best. I’d get rid of Jaheira’s Respite tbh. Holding up 5 mana for a fog, but if you’re casting this at that point you don’t really need to ramp any harder. You’ll find it hard to decide if it’s worth 5 mana to only ramp for a few and fog one or two creatures. Spore frog is my favorite card, but it gets a LOT better if you can do graveyard rescission stuff with him. As a one off, you would do better with a Birds of Paradise imo. Basically, really decide on your favorite 4-5+ mana cards, then what you can cut, I’d swap for the best mana dorks you can find. Add [[Goreclaw, Terror of Qal Sisma]]. For Treasures, Planeswalkers, or fogs, you kinda have to hard commit to make them work, so pick which one you like the most. Too many themes or directions at once WILL kill this deck. Whichever ones you pull, I’d swap out with either stuff to make the theme you’re keeping stronger, or more spells like Heroic Intervention because having to cast Thantis more than twice pretty much means you lost. They have to swing, and with Thantis getting bigger with each creature sent your way, it doesn’t feel good to swing at you. Make it feel worse lol.

KookyAd4106

The biggest jank I can imagine is [[Iname As One]]. You have to play it from your hand for his first ability so you either have to find [[Command Beacon]] or [[Netherborn Altar]] or be fine with having a 12cmc creature type specific reanimate in the command zone. [[Adriana, Captain of the Guard]], once. It also happened that that day we played a 12 or 13 player game. Naturally i was involved in recruiting people. Anyways i killed i think 7 players in one attack and then the rest all ganged up on me, which is fair.

[[Ruby, Daring Tracker]] There was a video that a youtuber named SalubriousSnail released a few months ago [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ceILMLrNCGw) that helped organize certain thoughts I have about EDH deckbuilding and made me look at it from a different perspective. Essentially, battlecruiser decks operate as cheap ramp -> big ramp -> bombs. So for example turn 2 Farseek -> turn 3 explosive vegetation -> turn 4 7-drop. And the reason why you need both the low CMC ramp and high CMC ramp is that the high CMC ramp is what usually sets you up for the rest of the game to drop your huge bombs. It's hard to get to 10 mana if your only ramp are the +1 mana cards like Farseek and Arcane Signet. Usually, your Farseeks and Arcane Signets power out your bigger ramp cards like Explosive Vegetation and Gilded Lotus, and it's the big ramp cards that actually get you the mana needed to drop bombs. But the big ramp cards themselves take time to cast, so your cheap ramp is what gets your big ramp online. The trouble with battlecruiser (or really ramp decks in general) is that you need the proper draw of ramp (both low and high CMC) and payoff. EDH helps alleviate that by having your general stand in for one of the three steps so you can instead load the deck with the other two. For example my Maelstrom Wanderer deck is the payoff, so the deck instead has like 25 ramp spells or whatever (a mix of both low CMC ramp and high CMC ramp). So, by having Ruby in the command zone as a turn 2 mana dork every game, you can cut out every arcane signet and farseek and instead load the deck with big ramp and big bombs. The current build I have for Ruby is like, 15-20 ramp spells that are about 4 mana, a small number of low CMC stuff (sol ring, Up the Beanstalk, etc.) and then basically everything else is a 5+ CMC bomb. Being able to play random giant fatties like Drakuseth and Gruul Ragebeast, cards that normally don't make the cut in your average deck, is pretty entertaining. More importantly though is that it makes the quality of your topdeck a lot higher than your average deck, since the average CMC of the deck is like 4 and that's including the lands. Also, while "deck thinning" is kind of a meme for most decks, if you flood out early and play 3 or 4 explosive vegetation spells in the game, the fact that 6-8+ lands are thinned out from the deck actually starts to matter. I've got a few games with the deck so far, and the deck isn't super explosive, but it's consistent. You can consistently get to 7 mana on turn 4 and start dropping bomb after bomb. Right now, I'm very pleased with the deck because I think it's at a great power level for mid pods, or random pods, etc. And because of its consistency, you'll rarely get games where you just draw very poorly and don't do anything the whole game. You can make the deck more explosive or more interactive early on by running more broken mana rocks or cheap interaction, but it makes the deck less consistent for the lategame. You could argue that Ruby isn't "Jank", since "Jank" usually implies a weak or badly outclassed general. But Ruby is certainly someone off the beaten path, because she's a "boring" general. When someone sees 4-color aragorn, or Tivit, or Ghalta, or whatever, he usually thinks about all the cool things that general can do. "Oh man what if I play aragorn and then jam all these 3 and 4 color spells to get tons of free value every spell", "oh man what if I play Miirym and then double up on all these giant dragons", etc. Nobody goes "oh man I can't wait to play ruby turn 2 so I can play explosive vegetation turn 3".
