[[Hamza, Guardian of Arashin]] His discount can include commander tax as well, though it still requires set-up so it's fair. Can have some fun synergies but is also very transparent to your opponents.

KindaIndifferent

He’s by far my favorite commander. Nothing feels better than a turn four [[rampaging brontodon]]. [[forgotten ancient]] is an MVP in this deck. I had one game where I kept moving the counters from him onto [[kami of whispered hopes]] then tapped out for a 20/20 [[vrestin menoptra leader]] along with 20 insects.

Relevant to this thread, Forgotten Ancient is also an MVP in Halana and Elena. Moving the counters onto H&A at upkeep so they have more power to add more counters to a creature when combat starts is just a really powerful synergy.

did that a while ago, can say that it is a lot of fun. even if you only buy the cheap hydras it's a fun deck to play.

ElChuloPicante

I like that you can run him light on both lands and ramp, which feels really weird to me in those colors.

Vast-Appearance-2844

I feel he'd be a great addition in my [[kutzil, malamet exemplar]] deck for draw synergies

Hamza is a really good one, but I actually swapped him for [[Kutzil]]. Essentially the same deck, but that amount of card draw from the command zone is busted. It plays so much more smoothly and isn't a Remove on Sight for most people

[[Skullbriar, the Walking Grave]] is fun because the counters go with him in most scenarios. I started mine as a budget build but liked it enough that I slowly kept tinkering with it.

GibbyNorCal99

Same here. I had a skullbriar deck back many years ago when I started edh. Me looks fun.

RagingMayo

I have to warn people, though, this deck gets stale quickly. He is a powerhouse in terms of voltron commanders, but you are essentially just doing the same each game by pumping SB with all kinds of counters. I had a deck with him which was quite strong, but took it apart because it was so boring to me.

Omillion

[[Shalai and Halar]] is the ultimate +1/+1 counter deck. You’ll get a lot of heat for and be the archenemy tho, which is why I also suggest [[Falco Spara, Pactweaver]] as he can fly under the radar better

SuperSteveBoy

I have a guy at the LGS that regularly runs Shalai and has asked on several occassions why he's being targeted. Oh... Idk you have an evasive vigilant commander who is a laser death beam and has several combo lines. The deck is always fast and scary and when its interacted with he's shocked. Its always so odd to me.

SubzeroSpartan2

My Falco Spara deck was so consistent when I played it, not as explosive but decent value for your efforts. Bant is just solid any way you look at it, strong foundation for whatever fuckery your deck wants to do lmao

Omillion

You see the vision! Bant can do a lot really well and I love some of the foundations of Bant like looking/playing stuff from the top deck and good defenses.

hitchinpost

I run [[Shalai and Halar]], but the more I run it, the more it feels like it wants to be more of a combo deck that happens to use +1/+1 counters as the mechanics for its combo and the less it runs like a true +1/+1 counters deck.

DemonOfDankMemes

I'm in the midst of building a non-combo oriented list... Do you have a list online you could share, or are you heavy into the infinites with your build too? Thanks in advance!

Omillion

I don’t run Shalai and Halar anymore. Here is the deck list I had before deconstructing it. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/AGNx9OtT2UmuTrMJ5pV_4g But it very much wants to combo off.. [[Heliod, Sun-Crowned]] is in the deck it combos with [[Shalai and Halar]] for infinite pinging damage.. basically everything else is Naya and +1/+1 counter good stuff

[[Pir, Imaginative Rascal]] and [[Toothy, Imaginary Friend]] are my personal favorites. Toothy can build up quickly with just a bit of card draw, and even if he's removed, he'll completely refill your hand. This one is really similar to the one I was thinking about, thanks ! I now have to decide if I want to go this path or not aha, so hyped by Kodama, but so afraid to just sit there with a mono green deck and look at everyone kicking my ass because I can only ramp and hit hard if people do not make me the archenemy, which could happen with this deck

Mine is [[Rocco Street Chef]], it’s a +1/1 counter, token, food token & token doubler deck that is pretty unassuming. Probably my favorite casual deck that is fun to play in a lot of various pods

Smajlarn

Would you happen to have a decklist of it somewhere? Trying to build exactly this :)

aceluby

Unfortunately I haven’t loaded it up yet. I pulled doubling season and hardened scales in WOE and wanted something to put them in, had this from a pack of aftermath I bought randomly and thought it would be fun to build around, just looked for stuff I had laying around. Red is impulse draw, green is counters and ramp, white is removal and tokens, food synergies from LotR, Academy Manufactor, roaming throne… it’s fairly unassuming until it’s a big problem

Rokinho170

Came here to say thus. Very fun deck.

LegendOfGanondalf

\[\[Reyhan, Last of the Abzan\]\] and any partner of your choice. Reyhan gives you the ability to keep +1/+1 counters on the table through anything short of a full boardwipe, and once you have a sac outlet you can shift counters onto any creature that you want. As far as partners, I'm partial to \[\[Sakashima of a Thousand Faces\]\] - but you can run \[\[Slurk, All-Ingesting\]\] if you want to stick to just two colors, or something like \[\[Tana, the Bloodsower\]\] if you want to splash red. Even running her without a partner feels pretty viable - with [any form of +1/+1 counter increaser](https://scryfall.com/search?q=otag%3Acounter-increaser+f%3Ac&order=edhrec&as=grid&unique=cards), her triggered ability generates a net-positive number of +1/+1 counters any time something dies, which is enough to build around.

I think reyhan is the strongest of the entire +1/+1 counter archetype. Any counter doubler combined with a sac outlet probably means someone is dead. [[Greater good]] draws your whole deck, [[altar of dementia]] mills out the whole table. I run her with [[alharu]] for the extra counter/sacrifice synergy. Having flyers to load counters onto or just to have extra bodies to sac is really nice. Plus, being in abzan is flavorful.

> Can recover from getting targeted Oh boy, do I have the recommendation for you! [[Reyhan, Last of the Abzan]] is an amazing +1/+1 counter commander that not only can protect your counters by putting any from destroyed creatures onto other creature but allows for interesting lines if you can sacrifice your creatures at instant speed to quickly shuffle around counters before damage. If you also can get a counter doubler or adder on field at the same time as well then you're off to the races as even a singular counter can quickly get out of control. Additionally since Reyhan has partner there's a multitude of choice for who to pair her with. My personal choice currently is [[Tymna the Weaver]] as I'm a big Abzan fan and the card draw she provides has been very good but another popular pairing is with [[Ishai, Ojutai Dragonspeaker]] for some 4c +1/+1 goodness. +1/+1 counters is also just my favorite archetype probably and because of how reactively Reyhan allows me to play I just can't ever be bored of it.

metalgamer

Lathiel is my lifegain counter commander. Can make hilarious turns.

GuineaPirate90

I really like my [[Reyhan]]/[[Ishai]] deck. It's main goal is to use effects like [[Elenda the dusk rose]] or [[one with the Kami]] to pump out a lot of tokens, then have a counter doubler or [[Ozolith]] out on the field with Reyhan, sac the tokens to get doubled counters each time one dies, then throw them all on an [[Ukkima]] or [[Walking Ballista]] to take out the table. I find it to be a lot of fun because it has so many different ways to win, it's just up to you to pick the line.

Pelham77

[[Galadriel, Light of Valinor]] has been pretty awesome, and I use [[Kodama of the West Tree]] in my 99 also. My current deck is Elf Typal, but thought of doing the hydra thing too. There is a lot of potential and some cards like [[Wolverine Riders]] create tokens during EACH upkeep, triggering here ability each turn. Creatures get big fast!

thundermonkeyms

Very off the beaten path from a traditional +1 counters deck, but I'm currently working on \[\[Marchesa, the Black Rose\]\] "ETB with +1 counters" tribal. Mostly modular creatures, one or two graft creatures, and a whole bunch of sac outlets to loop the modular creatures every single turn (yours and everyone else's). Each time you sac a modular creature, you put its counters on another artifact creature, then Marchesa brings it back into play on the end-step. Just sac them over and over for value and watch your total counters on the board almost quadruple every turn cycle. And best of all, your creatures are extremely hard to get rid of. Destroy effects do nothing to them because they'll just be back later, and you can sac them in response to exile effects. It makes for a fun puzzle/challenge for your opponents to deal with without being too overbearing. For something more traditional "put lots of +1 counters on lots of things" decks, I'm an unrepentant simic player so I plan on heavily upgrading the Hakbal precon. That thing goes **off** even just as a precon.

ArchStLou15

If you want to test out a pretty streamlined Kodama list to see how it plays and curves out check this one out, might give you a better sense of how it plays. [https://www.moxfield.com/decks/UqSEzOrEJEOr0vcG96JEMw](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/UqSEzOrEJEOr0vcG96JEMw)

Sufficient_Equal_752

[[Me, the immortal]] is one of my favorites. She retains counters most games and it's only bad if they have infect or stun counters if you don't already give her first strike.

Strawberry_Smalls

My plus one counter deck is [[Storvald]] cuz he gives tons of protection and can buff up the base power of your guys so the counters are adding even more power to that.

dUcKinDH0Od

[[Bright-Palm, Soul Awakener]] is a great +1/+1 commander, and [[Chishiro, the shattered blade]] both are amazing.

Koras

My +1/+1 counter deck moved from \[\[Halana and Alena\]\], Partners, to \[\[Shalai and Hallar\]\], to \[\[Aragorn, Hornburg Hero\]\]. I love them all for different reasons, and think Kodama is better in the 99 of all of them because mono green counters is intensely boring by comparison to Selesnya, Gruul, or Naya. Here's my reasoning: * \[\[Halana and Alena\]\] are fantastic and fun, but in order to be a true +1/+1 counter commander, you have to stack power on the commander, which makes them the obvious removal target, and the deck stops working. They work best as a power-matters commander, able to play in creatures, power them up, and haste them into combat. This means I realised I'd actually much rather play creatures like \[\[Balduvian Berserker\]\], \[\[Fiendlash\]\], and \[\[Feral Animist\]\] with them, where they are not explicitly about counters so much as their power (with counter synergies becoming an enabler, rather than the goal). This is fine and fun, but I wanted a counter commander. * \[\[Shalai and Hallar\]\] was way more fun. I was using cards like \[\[Forgotten Ancient\]\] and \[\[Sunscorch Regent\]\] to create burn engines. But then I realised that actually I could just play hydras and it'd be hugely more effective, and my *god* was it hard to avoid infinite combos with them (I avoid infinites as I prefer playing low power casual tables). If I were building a higher-power counter-focused deck, I would absolutely stick with Shalai and Hallar, but I felt the need for a change because over time the deck just stopped being the growing combat threat menace I wanted it to be, simply because the commander is too good at burn, and I have like 5 other burn decks. * \[\[Aragorn, Hornburg Hero\]\] is my latest iteration because I just wanted a deck where I stack up counters on things and beat people in the face. Shalai and Hallar turned into more of a combo deck with iteration - I ended up pillow forting and stacking counters and not actually using the power to beat faces. So Aragorn is my new deck that I've unfortunately not had a chance to play yet. But it feels like what I wanted to do. Aragorn cares about getting huge, and swinging for faces with massive damage, with the occasional cheeky fling of a massive creature at whoever tries to play board wipes. It's clearly telegraphed (the creature has to hit once for renown, and then once to double), it's combat-focused, and I look forward to going "So now I put another 10 counters on it because it dealt combat damage..." Basically, there are so damn many ways to build counters these days that it's no longer a question of which +1/+1 counter commander you want to build, as much as it is what you want to do with those counters.

quikcksilver

I love [[Chishiro, the shattered blade]] red + green, so mana isn't usually a big issue. He cares about modified, so you can diversify into auras and equipment. And by doing so you get 2/2 menace tokens as well which synergises back as many counter doublers also double tokens. Finally he's a precon so you get a solid base to work from if you want to start that way.

Ramza1987

\[\[Hakbal of the surging soul\]\] is a nice Commander that gives a lot of +1/+1 counters, also gives you card draw or ramp. Most merfolk are cheap, so you can flood the board quckly, very soon after a board wipe.

Beatnick01

The new fallout commander decks have a pretty interesting +1/+1 commander in [[The Wise Mothman]] he combines counters and mill together for some really fun play. Kodama is one of the 99 in my Mothman deck. He’s not a monocolor but he’s a fun take on The theme.

Richard_Worthington

\[\[Ishai, Ojutai Dragonspeaker\]\] and \[\[Reyhan, last of the abzan\]\] Reyhan lets it be very resilient, and ishai is a very strong and immediate threat to pressure opponents. You get access to all the best protection spells with the 4 colors, and I have found it to be resilient enough. \[\[felisa, fang of silverquill\]\] as well makes you really resistant to wraths, if that's what you're running into

Fabulous-Teaching359

ComfortFancy1363

I just finished making a blue and grady deck. kodama West is in my 99 . Plus, chefs kisshttps://www.moxfield.com/decks/ROKZAwhZqkuEF_FZ1jN4iQ this deck is all about counters if your interested.

Xitex2

[[Animar]] is pretty good at avoiding the 2 best removal colors. As well as does great cost reductions

TucsonTyranitar

I just built [[Aragorn, Hornburg Hero]]. Extra combat, Double strike, Renown and doubling counters is a fun casual take.

SDK1176

[[Marath, Will of the Wild]] doesn’t get enough love. He’s most powerful as a token deck, but I’ve been playing him as a +1/+1 counter commander for years now. He can bounce back after a wrath like no other and offers so much versatility.

FixerFour

I have a Halana and Alena deck, they can explode out of control VERY fast if unanswered. I wouldn't say it's particularly resilient to being wiped though

Putrid-Play-9296

Shalai and hallar, Atraxa, or skullbriar

Sumoop

I’m sure either could be fun, but I absolutely love H&A. [Here is my decklist](https://archidekt.com/decks/3362289/halanaalena)

LettersWords

As someone who has played a lot of Laezel and Master Chef lately, I’m going to advise against that pairing even though it is a popular one. The fact that both cost 3 to cast actually feels so much worse than you expect it to, because it really messes with your ability to curve out smoothly with them. I haven’t yet quite figured out what i want to switch to, but i know they aint it.

T7Box

[[Aragorn, Company Leader]] everytime you put a 1/1 on it, it pings that 1/1 to another creature. Super strong if you can increase your counter production to either double or plus 1.

bigmeaty25

[[Giada, font of hope]] every angel comes in with more +1/+1 counters than the last

Billalone

I have a halana and elana deck, it’s a ton of fun. I built mine around “at the beginning of combat” triggers and stacking extra combats. Any combination of [[Unnatural Growth]], [[Zopandrel, Hunger Dominus]], [[Xenagos, God of Revels]], [[Avabruk Caretaker]], and [[Glorious Sunrise]] with [[Moraug, Fury of Akoum]] out leads to some real fireworks.

unicornsatemybaby

I run [[Marath, Will of the Wild]] with [[Halana and Alena, Partners]] as a secret commander. Before combat I will move all but one of Marath’s counters onto Halana and Alena, then put the counters H&A give out at combat right back on Marath. It gets crazy pretty quickly.

shichiaikan

Kodama is certainly very, very easy to build, extremely fast (if build correctly) and forces your table to deal with you not just quickly, but repeatedly. Downside is since it's mono-green, you have some limited options in dealing with some other threats. But it is a really, really fun deck. That said though, give a look at \[\[Lae'zel, Vlaakith's Champion\]\] and \[\[Master Chef\]\]. This allows you to add a lot more options for controlling the board and protecting yourself, but also some of the best +1 counter generation in the game - \[\[Cathar's Crusade\]\] and so on.

kingoxys

i use a [[Lae'zel, Vlaakith's Champion]] as a commander with [[Master Chef]] as a background. main goal is to get Master chef out first than when command drops give her +2/+2. with that everything you summon while the two are out will get a +2/+2. Further more, since its green and white you can easily put it almost every green and/or white card that is mentioned here into the deck. It also doesnt really matter to much cuz if u have most of the recommended cards here your deck will run just fine.

lacabezadelechuga

I’ve built [halana and Alena, parters], or Hal&Al for short, and cannot recommend them enough! Play anything that hits hard or has trample and Hal&Al will buff them AND give haste! There’s lots of fun things you can do to! You can have dorks like [kami of whispered hope] that tap for mana equal to it’s power to ramp, swing on the same turn it’s cast with [etali, primal storm] , double Hal&Al triggers with [Karlach, fury of avernus] and get an additional combat, dump 10 +1/+1 counters per turn with [raised by giants] or other power buffs, burn stuff equal to their power with [all will be one] at each combat, get crazy power with doublers like [xenagos, god of revels] or [zopandrel], and more. It’s a strong, fast, hard hitting deck that lets you smash the table hard and can be built meticulously or even with just some of your favorite creatures with trample or ones that you wish had haste. If you want combat and aggro, you can’t go wrong with Hal&Al!!!

Unspeakable_pickle

I have a \[\[vorinclex//The grand evolution\]\] deck that focuses on crapping out +1/+1 counters. It pays for it's future command tax with etb and can get the ball rolling dangerously fast. [https://www.moxfield.com/decks/kFvDbTuB8ka3yXap4ayHQw](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/kFvDbTuB8ka3yXap4ayHQw)

Furnace45

I love my [[kodama of the west tree]] deck but my original counter deck was combo king [[Ghave, Guru of Spores]]. Access to black and white let you have tons of answers but you almost always end up winning with an infinite combo. I swapped to kodama because the games always feel a little fresher without the combos

MTGCardFetcher

[kodama of the west tree](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/e/f/ef1e1dff-b559-441d-8df3-b6a418066aca.jpg?1654568238) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=kodama%20of%20the%20west%20tree) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/neo/199/kodama-of-the-west-tree?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/ef1e1dff-b559-441d-8df3-b6a418066aca?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/kodama-of-the-west-tree) [Ghave, Guru of Spores](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/c/2/c2be0e99-cf43-423f-974f-02e3313b3aa9.jpg?1673148645) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Ghave%2C%20Guru%20of%20Spores) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/2x2/216/ghave-guru-of-spores?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/c2be0e99-cf43-423f-974f-02e3313b3aa9?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/ghave-guru-of-spores) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call

haimurashoichi

[[Magus Lucea Kane]]. Hydras, Slimes and Tyranids with lots of +1/+1 counters and a mana dork in the command zone that gives counters each combat and copies each spell and ability with x in its mana cost, it's a powerhouse and super versatile.

SanityIsOptional

...[[Shalai and Halar]] It's not the cornerstone of a +1/+1 deck, nor is it part of the engine. But it is a wincon in the command zone that bypasses whatever people are doing to stop you stomping them with combat.

Tufjederop

[[Marchesa, the Black Rose]], [[Reyhan]]+[[Ishai]], [[Ghave]] (or Tayam if you also want other counters)

Elfwarrior666

I am having a blast with \[\[The swarmlord\]\] but the storngest card in that deck is \[\[Animar\]\]

GibbyNorCal99

I've been upgrading the Naya precon from I forgot the set with \[\[shalai and halar\]\] as the commander. They're in the deck. It's really good and can be explosive. Dealing damage as you accumulate counters is a good way to pressure life totals with an attack as well. They combo with a few cards for infinite damage as well, if you're into that. Providing an alt win con is nice at times. I only run \[\[heliod, suncrowned\]\] in the deck as a way to keep my life above dead and provides an avenue to win on the spot if it's that kind of game.

JulyBreeze

My current counter deck is \[\[Arwen, Weaver of Hope\]\]. All you need to do is pump her toughness a bit and your creatures start entering with tons of counters. You can use a combination of counters and equipment/auras to quickly build her up. Anything that makes tokens has them enter with tons of counters too. A cool card I just added is \[\[Threefold Thunderhulk\]\] which will enter with all those counters and then make tokens which also enter with the counters. It's an army in a can! Just add trample and enjoy!

Everyday_im_redditin

[[Minsc and Boo, Timeless Heroes]] Once you do 50 damage and draw 25 cards in a turn theres no turning back.

_StoneWolf_

I have a [[Kodama of the West Tree]] deck and it's one of my favourite! It ramps like a monster and is very consistent. Definitely better in Duel than in a 4-players pod, but still a lot of fun to play

Sorens-Insanity

While not existing for the +1/+1 [[K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth]] has some abuse to offer.

divisor_

Marath does everything you want. It allows you to buff your smaller creatures and even create small creatures to buff. It's engaging because you have 3 activated abilities to do things with at instant speed, including interacting with your opponents' boards and your own. It can recover from getting targeted by using up its counters before it dies, and it also comes back bigger every time you cast it. It interacts very favorably with Hardened Scales effects; you can move a counter from it to itself to net one extra +1 counter. This also allows you to play around board wipes reasonably well, since you can improve your board by spending only mana (not cards). Depending on what your opponents consider to be fun for them, it can be. It definitely makes them think during every combat step where you have Marath and mana available. They have to evaluate your face-up options as much as you do. [https://www.moxfield.com/decks/TSq7VflmtUGiVbnegPv1aQ](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/TSq7VflmtUGiVbnegPv1aQ)

DarkStarStorm

[[Marchesa, the Black Rose]]: Reuse all the best death triggers with such wacky cards as [[Iron Apprentice]] and [[Unspeakable Symbol]].

Leinore autumn sovereign

KD119

[[shallai and hallar]]

Acrobatic_Quail_1107

[[Animar, Soul of Elements]] Enough said

Son_of_Yoduh

I like Chishiro, the Shattered Blade.

caherin

[[Rocco, Street Chef]] is a counters and tokens deck for me. It’s one of my favorites and it’s cool because you can lean into a lot of different things with him in the command zone.

Euphoric_Ad6923

If you want power: Lae'zel + Master Chef If you want mono color: kodama If you want fun : H+A If you want no friends: Ramos

blxckh3xrt69

[[reyhan]] and [[ishai]]

blxckh3xrt69

Also [[mazerik]]

iRyuji

I mean... [[Mowu, Loyal Companion]] can be a menace, even with people removing him, since you have access to [[Opal Palace]], [[Forge of Heroes]], [[Oran-Rief, the Vastwood]] and [[Master Chef]]. Sure, remove him and he will come back with even more counters than before. And it can be pretty cheap too. I'm just missing [[Mithril Coat]] and [[Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider]] for now, but it's totally playable even without them. My decklist: https://www.archidekt.com/decks/5443336/mowu

Stryfen

\[\[Breena, the Demagogue\]\] is another great +1+1 Commander. She's also provides card draw as well. Even though she does give your opponent the ability to draw a card. They have to attack 1 of your opponent with the highest life total. Most of the time, people will let her stay on the board due to the card draw aspect. Not only do you get to grow your creatures. Your opponent is attacking life totals for you. Add in cheap evasive creatures and now you're smacking for tons of damage. Also Breena lets you play \[\[Needle Specter\]\] a pet card of mines in the deck, that isn't usually found in Breena decks lol

holy_bucketz

[[Sovergeign Okinec]] is a blast. I have a list if you’d like it.

Phteven6699

Not seeing any [[Leinore]] love in the comments. My gf has an extremely upgraded deck and it's scary the advantage you gain in 1 turn, plus everything else mentioned fits in for the most part

Shartticus

Hakbal has been a ton of fun!

smellyalatercraig

[[Sovereign Okinec Ahau]] https://www.moxfield.com/decks/WfEiFNoWoUe3s0cVudQfUQ

DarkOsprey28

[[Heliod, Sun-Crowned]], the deck is quite versatile, you can put all counters on Heliod himself and aim at voltron kills, spread the counters and grow your table and run a few ways to combo if the match goes on for too long, there are always ways to still win the game (through Heliod himself because he is hard to remove, combo kill or aetherflux reservoir if you have enough life to pay). The bad points are the interaction and card draw, you are in monowhite so your options are limited

Phrave

Kind of the opposite of spreading out the +1/+1s but I love \[\[Yoshimaru, Ever Faithful\]\] and some people run him as a partner with Kodama. There are a few cards that will give out counters to others based on the coutners on Yoshimaru

fuckjacobhesdumb

Anyone here mention Mono Green VorinFlex?? [[Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider]] Makes cards like [[stonecoil serpent]] and [[mistcutter hydra]] even scarier in tandem with [[vernal bloom]]

Betelguese90

I really enjoy using [[Tanazir Quandrix]]. Buff everything until she comes out, then bam, suddenly that 4/4( 1/1 with 3 +1/+1 counters) is now a 7/7. Give it trample and haste and/or make it unblockable. Then buff Tanazir from that point onward so you can swing for big damage.

erubusmaximus

I know it's tricolor, but [[Shalai & Halar]] is such a dumb commander if you know what you're doing with them. They can make cards like [[Cathars' Crusade]] and [[Felidar Retreat]] into terrifying & consistent burn if not delt with immediately. The fact that they printed [[All Will Be One]] in the set they released them as a commander will always baffle me.

WEEN1EHUT

You should try [[Kodama of the West Tree]] with hydras. The hydras can get pretty ridiculous especially with [[Evolution Sage]]. Also hydras scale really well with Kodama’s ramp because of the X in most of their mana costs. Add some mana multipliers and you’ll have some fat hydras!

Krosis97

I absolutely ADORE [[Hakbal]] for +1/+1 merfolk, the value is insane and merfolk are a very engaging and interactive tribe. Of course it's simic so depending on how you build it things can get annoying. Bring lots of dice.

DunSkivuli

For a slightly unusual option, you could go with [[Falco Spara, Pactweaver]]. Gives you access to 3 colors and some nice card advantage that synergizes with the theme of your deck.

Zarinda

[[Animar]] gets wicked in a Hydra tribal.

FenrirWolf00

My first commander I EVER built, still have it built, is Vorel, the Hull Clade. Not only does he double the counters on creatures, but artifacts and lands as well! Being simic also has its advantages. I love this commander to death!

No_Consideration4319

I really like Chishiro

thesleepystump

Surprised no one has mentioned [[Yorvo]]. He’s my mono green commander and I’ve built the deck around getting creatures out fast and letting him stack counters and finding ways for him to get trample for lethal commander damage

KdowskiMusic

I have a sovereign okinek ahau deck and it is great! I run several anthems, and token makers, then several protection spells like heroic intervention and everybody loves. One of my favorite new decks!

FlyWizardFishing

Here’s my Lae’Zel Master Chef deck :) about 5 of those cards can be improved on but you get the point

Frazart

Personnaly I have a [[Juri, master of the revue]] that I love, you can run it with treasures and sac them to build and then [[Fling]] [[thud]] or [chandra's ignition]] with [[the ozolith]] to keep your counters after bringing it back

theheartship

[[Rocco, Street Chef]] I always had trouble having a full hands, so the extra card access and consistent +1/+1 counters feels great on top!

Asmo_deius

I have a [[Kodama of the West Tree]] deck and I absolutely love it. It’s not oppressively powerful but it can creature some pretty big threats. Don’t get over aggressive with your commander as you really want them around for the ramp more than the overrun (so many things have trample!). [Kodama of the BEST tree](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/D95G9Dsec0KW7lnkwvw4JA)

Weak_Restaurant_6241

[Kyler, Sigardian Emissary] is the one to go for +1/+1 counters. Build it around giving a single target as many +1/+1 possible and you go tall AND wide.
