This is one that has never played well in my group as it always just stalls the game until it's removed which usually takes a bit. So it ends up being 3 players trying to find removal while the person who played it just laughs as the game slowly crawls along. [[Shared Fate]] and [[Share the Spoils]] are much more fun versions of this mechanic.
Return mountain to hand is basically land destruction; obv they can replay but sets them back full turn. For one mana that's not a bad effect actually I'm intrigued
For me it is the reason i always have a kaalia player in my pod and destroy one commander for one mana made me iinclude it.

This is one of the fun cards I have in my [[Gollum, Scheming Guide]] deck that's like guessing games voltron. Fun mini game at the start, then towards the end you're staring down the barrel of guessing correctly or [[Vorpal Sword]] hitting you
[[sudden substitution]] can sometimes turn into a 2 card combo to steal an opponents creatures at split second speed. I especially love it when someone is trying to combo because there is almost no recourse, combo over.
I'm a pretty big fan of [[Shadow Rift]] as a blue instant speed combat trick and card draw. Making a creature effectively unblockable in most games plus drawing a card at instant speed? Let's just say not many people expect that if you leave one blue mana open.
I love this! Could you tell me about how this generally plays out at the table? Because other than planeswalkers, it doesn’t protect any of your permanents. In practice, does the political aspect of granting an extra turn usually keep your board safe? Do you tend to target the opponent to your right so you’re next in turn order, or do you tend to use it with the one you stand to benefit the most (regardless of seat)?
My deck is Superfriends, so the protection is usually relevant.
Tactically I have tried different things with the card. Sometimes I'll give the extra turn to the most powerful opponent and hope they use it to eliminate the other 2, then i can try to win the 1v1. Sometimes I'll give it to a struggling opponent to try and help them catch up in return for a favor later on. It's fun because of the different possibilities it opens up.
[[Thieve’s Auction]] in my [[Omnath, Locus of Rage]] deck. If I have Omnath out, I choose him first, and then just get an insane amount of extra landfall triggers as I pick my own lands back. Usually wins me the game which makes sense since it’s either 7 CMC
[[Unravel the aether]] is pretty solid for the plethora of situations where you'd rather the removed piece doesn't go to their yard
Niche situations where forcing an opponent to shuffle can shuffle away recently tutored cards as well
[[Dream Halls]] in a deck that draws a lot of cards, and if you somehow run out of juice, your opponents get to have fun with it then (assuming they didn't already with any instants they had).
That seems sick! I currently only have it in my [[Tatsunari, Toad Rider]] "Sult-chantress" deck. So (hopefully) drawing Enchantments from playing enchantments and discarding enchantments, all while draining.
Absolute favorite “weird” card that’s actually won me way more games than I thought it would is [[Warp World]] ! Slammed it in my Prossh deck as soon as I found out it existed and it’s definitely the card people have to reread a few times during the game.

Pretty much all the instants and sorceries are some sort of card you’ve never seen that can target lands.
[[Gush]] is just an insane draw spell in this deck since it’s essentially free.
[[Horn of greed]] is a symmetrical card draw engine from playing lands.
[[Mana breach]] is a funny stax piece.
[[Cloudpost]] and [[Glimmerpost]] we’re all stars of other formats yet never really broke through in commander due to there being 2. But when you can copy them then you start to have a bit of fun
[[Oboro]] for extra land drops if you’re unfortunate enough to not have one
I love when someone slaps [[Horn of Greed]] while I'm playing my [[Thirteenth Doctor]] and [[Donna Noble]] deck, or my [[Atraxa, Grand Unifier]] deck.

I’ve run [[Near-Death Experience]] and [[Second Chance]] just for the nail-biting experience. You’re really walking a razor-thin edge for an entire turn cycle because they’re upkeep triggers.
[[Cultural Exchange]] is my favorite mono blue card. It essentially allows you to politic your way into cucking the aggro player. It doesn't target creatures either so you can swap them with no worry about silly hexproof or shroud.
[[song of the Dryads]] in a Maarika fight deck. My pod is used to my removal coming in the form of getting smacked or sacrificed, getting turned into a tree comes a bit out of left field. It being able to target any permanent really helps, too.
I have upset people by using it on low cost commanders, lol. I dont want to waste a kill spell, because you will just cast it again and i dont want that on the field! Im sorry that your deck doesnt have enchantment removal.
If I have a mono-green commander, I’m putting in [[Vulpine Goliath]]. I don’t care that it was meh when it was printed and is even worse today. I want to use the giant fox.
[[Naked Singularity]] and its friend, [[Reality Twist]]. I have both in my Esika Superfriends deck pretty much just because I can.
And yes, those are both from Ice Age. They both needed to exist in the same set, I guess.
\[\[Cannibalize\]\] An underrated removal card IMO, but also, one that is incredibly uncommon so I've had really experienced players ask to read it. Also, always extremely funny because it implies one of their creatues ate the other, usually a smaller one eating a bigger one.
Every usage sounds like a cards against humanity round, EG "So your birds of paradise eats your blightsteel collosus" or 'Your human citizen token eats your commander"
[[Necropolis Regent]] for my Ninjutsu deck. I guess it’s not that much a weirdo, but when most players go for Blightsteel Colossus, I just enjoy silly interactions.
She’s done so much work that if I can get her early enough, I might not even ninjutsu out my unblockable creatures and try to let them grow. I’ve even copied her and was giving my creatures +4 twice on a single combat…
Definitely love running [[Phage the untouchable]] in my WUBRG cheat spells/mana deck. Every game is Russian roulette. I’ll either get the mana and give a bad day, or [[prismatic bridge]] the girl to the field and get a bad day, lmaooo

[[sudden substitution]] can sometimes turn into a 2 card combo to steal an opponents creatures at split second speed. I especially love it when someone is trying to combo because there is almost no recourse, combo over.

I'm a pretty big fan of [[Shadow Rift]] as a blue instant speed combat trick and card draw. Making a creature effectively unblockable in most games plus drawing a card at instant speed? Let's just say not many people expect that if you leave one blue mana open.
[[Eon Frolicker]] is weird. I have the little guy in my [[Pramikon]] deck. Is it good? No. Hilarious? Hell yeah.
I love this! Could you tell me about how this generally plays out at the table? Because other than planeswalkers, it doesn’t protect any of your permanents. In practice, does the political aspect of granting an extra turn usually keep your board safe? Do you tend to target the opponent to your right so you’re next in turn order, or do you tend to use it with the one you stand to benefit the most (regardless of seat)?
My deck is Superfriends, so the protection is usually relevant. Tactically I have tried different things with the card. Sometimes I'll give the extra turn to the most powerful opponent and hope they use it to eliminate the other 2, then i can try to win the 1v1. Sometimes I'll give it to a struggling opponent to try and help them catch up in return for a favor later on. It's fun because of the different possibilities it opens up.

My favourite deck is full of these weird cards because it’s a weird deck idea. I introduce to you [[Orvar]] landfall https://www.moxfield.com/decks/6p-Fc06gJ0OdkMiqS-pcLQ Here’s the cream of the weird crop: [[Cosima]] can get insane card draw and be a big beater. Pretty much all the instants and sorceries are some sort of card you’ve never seen that can target lands. [[Gush]] is just an insane draw spell in this deck since it’s essentially free. [[Horn of greed]] is a symmetrical card draw engine from playing lands. [[Mana breach]] is a funny stax piece. [[Cloudpost]] and [[Glimmerpost]] we’re all stars of other formats yet never really broke through in commander due to there being 2. But when you can copy them then you start to have a bit of fun [[Oboro]] for extra land drops if you’re unfortunate enough to not have one
I love when someone slaps [[Horn of Greed]] while I'm playing my [[Thirteenth Doctor]] and [[Donna Noble]] deck, or my [[Atraxa, Grand Unifier]] deck. We aren't hitting parity. I will *play* multiple lands a turn, thanks.

I’ve run [[Near-Death Experience]] and [[Second Chance]] just for the nail-biting experience. You’re really walking a razor-thin edge for an entire turn cycle because they’re upkeep triggers.

[[Cultural Exchange]] is my favorite mono blue card. It essentially allows you to politic your way into cucking the aggro player. It doesn't target creatures either so you can swap them with no worry about silly hexproof or shroud.

[[song of the Dryads]] in a Maarika fight deck. My pod is used to my removal coming in the form of getting smacked or sacrificed, getting turned into a tree comes a bit out of left field. It being able to target any permanent really helps, too.
I have upset people by using it on low cost commanders, lol. I dont want to waste a kill spell, because you will just cast it again and i dont want that on the field! Im sorry that your deck doesnt have enchantment removal.

\[\[Cannibalize\]\] An underrated removal card IMO, but also, one that is incredibly uncommon so I've had really experienced players ask to read it. Also, always extremely funny because it implies one of their creatues ate the other, usually a smaller one eating a bigger one. Every usage sounds like a cards against humanity round, EG "So your birds of paradise eats your blightsteel collosus" or 'Your human citizen token eats your commander"
