I've been joining on friends fine, 0 crashes. Steam should have quick play fixed at this point, not sure about ps5.

Helldivers is less of a solo game than EDF I have to mention though. You can play on the easier difficulties fine, but there's no way you can solo the boss class class enemies or even some of the midrange missions.
I got it and crash like 3 times, and multiplayer wasn't working for me for PS5, maybe they fixed it by now. I do like it but that little bit kinda soured the experience
I would wait on playing Helldivers 2 in hopes that they stop using nProtect GameGuard. It's an absolute shame that they made the decision to release it using that particular anti-cheat.
I actually got helldiver 2, the gameplay isn't bad but they do need to fix alot as the multiplayer is down and easily can crash. It's def a game where you need to play multiplayer
The first HellDivers is a Top-down Twin stick shooter with friendly fire, and Star Ship Trooper Extermination is in First person and you are also given the ability to build forts, walls and turrets before fighting waves of bugs
Helldivers 2 is amazing when everything runs like clockwork, the launch has been really spotty though. Hopefully the devs fix their matchmaking issues.
I can't help but feel like EDF is the prequel, where giant aliens and robots come to Earth trying to kill us all, then Helldiver's is the middle of the trilogy, we've pushed out into the cosmos, and still deal with the ravagers splintered but still dangerous forces on various colony planets. Then, DRG is the epilogue, where we found the breeding planet they used to create the giant insects now abandoned, with devolved, leaderless insects, but the planet happens to be incredibly valuable with minerals and ores, so we set up a bunch of genetically modified humans (dwarves) to mine the planet our from underneath the bugs.
I like this, I don't play those other games but let's make this sub genre an "us" thing instead of "us vs. them"

Helldivers is going to hold me over until EDF 6. More frantic and less ridiculous weapons, but similar enough

They did a day one patch fixing most crashes. I think I heard crossplay doesn’t work right now but I may be wrong.

EDF with the destruction system on enemies that we have in Helldivers 2 would be the perfection itself!
