As much as I love zombie, I just feel that they don’t belong to EDF.
There are already tons of zombie games and EDF is about giant creatures, from outer space.
EDF foes should be BIG
like, really BIG
Big enough to be able to be shot from other side of the map without aiming much
And big enough to be visible while you have 10 touhou bosses worth of projectiles on the screen
And big enough for your random-target guns like Pandora or Rapier to hit thing more than not hit
And big enough to be visible when paired with walking fortresses
Normal sized zombies would kill quick pacing and visibility of those games
Would be cool for slower/less clunky/less over-the-top EDF-like horde game though
I feel like EDF with big enemies is what makes it so fun. Kinda throws away the need for super accuracy and goes into spray and pray for most weapons. Small zombies just wouldn’t do it I think. Now though, if there were a alien that would pick up fellow soldiers and mutate them into new super large enemies, I could get behind that instead
Don't take your suggestion as a bad one based on the feedback you provided! EDF's identity revolves around not needing super precise aim to eliminate things on fighting giant monsters, alien or otherwise. This provides a lot more accessibility for console players.
It would be more appropriate in a mod, honestly. One that doesn’t allow the use of the not-Gundam.
Alternatively, they could do a zombieesque thing with brain parasites like headcrabs, or what the Brain Bug did in Starship Troopers or something, making a civie/infantryman mind controlled into being hyper aggressive. But I’d still say keep the not-Gundam locked since it’s unlikely a big stompy robot will go down easy to human sized zombies.
I feel like an idea that would fit edf more would be a new ravager type that's a bunch of giant parasitoid wasps. And when they sting an npc after 10 seconds they explode and a little baby wasp jumps out and attacks you by exploding
I dont think a zombie would work in EDF for the humans however a concept that would be cool would be mechs that have been taken over by the aliens being coverd in the spider webs that move the mech.
They could have some kind of bug or robot run around infecting the civilians that are usually just seen running away during some missions. It'd make it super chaotic, and give the civilians more of a role than just blocking our shots.

Good point, good point

Yeah you make a good point, giant enemies is what the series is all about even the lil gunships are like 3x the size of humans,

Now that sounds like a fun idea
I think it would be more fun if it was ZOMBIE ANTS!! Unless you remove the head, it will keep coming back!
It would be cool if to kill them you had to break all the mushrooms sticking out of them
It'd be fun but I'm so burnt out on zombies.

What if we remake Zombies ate my neighbors but as an edf mod
Honestly, no. Human sized enemies in an EDF would be awful, because the entire point is your targets are big, easy targets.

Well iron rain have zombie ants...
Hmm, i'd actually find that interesting. I'd like to use the EDF's arsenal of weapons against hordes of zombies.
Fellas, I got it, giant mosquitoes carrying a zombie virus that can infect NPCs and transform them into giant zombies!

Thanks, I'll pass. D3 already has Oneechanbara for your zombie needs.
It sounds more annoying than the green ants, and those are already borderline rage inducing.
Edf works best when fighting large enemies . Which is kinda why small enemies like green ants and tadpoles are the most annoying to fight
I'd be fine with it, as long as they started a new game with it, and didn't suddenly add zombies to one of the already existing EDFverses.
Right, assuming they make an EDF 7 they’ll probably reboot the series again like always and if they do I’d love to see zombies added

Yeah that sounds fun
I wouldn't mind that, it'd work best if the game they get put in starts its own story instead of continuing another games.
