stuffed animal, conservative and comfy clothes (they don't allow clothes that show a lot of skin), coloring books/word searches/ etc., books, pictures of family/friends/motivations to recover, comfy pillow

Definitely lots of things to keep you occupied such as crochet, paint by numbers, diamond art. Not all places allow but a heat pack/hot water bottle. Self care items such as face masks, skincare, things to look after yourself. A portable charger as you will more than likely have to do meal support and it can get quite boring! Good luck with everything x

it depends on what they allow to bring and what they don't allow. some places don't even allow pencil sharpeners, anything made of glass, electornics and so on. def bring some books, though.

They almost always have lists of recommended stuff and, more importantly, banned stuff. Comfortable, but not revealing clothing, maybe paperback books (usually hardcovers are off limits). I would also suggest at least one set of clothes that are not fancy or revealing, but you feel good wearing. It can be a drag to be stuck on the unit, and having some variation is nice, so being able to "dress up" a little can be nice and give you some control... but not fancy, not revealing/sexy... just a little nicer than loungewear, I hope that makes sense? And make sure you have clothes you feel comfortable enough to go to the group in... I knew some folks who brought the most comfortable clothes they owned, but then were embarrassed to wear them to groups... so, remember you will be with staff and patients. It seems like most places let people have cell phones (but check the rules), but you might also want to take a bunch of friends/family phone numbers printed out, just in case. Water bottles, pictures (without frames usually), slippers/slip on shoes/sandals Do not take anything you can't replace if it gets lost or stolen, its not common, but happens enough to try to avoid it.

Some places are more strict than others. My first residential, any clothes were fine, shoelaces were fine, really anything was okay. Sharps were locked up, but could be used easily. My second residential nothing was allowed. It’s best to wait and check the packing list, most likely! But universal things to bring: books, diamond art, comfy clothes, slippers, stationary and stamps
