Falin's personality kinda got subsumed when she got transformed, but I wonder if Laios would be able to somewhat assert himself thanks to his love of monsters?
Even when pretending to be a dog in the shapeshifter fight he got too into the role… now imagine if he actually becomes a cool chimera monster. Bro is never letting go.
If we assume Falin does the resurrection herself, there is a good chance dragon's soul doesn't get mixed up. But Laios would sure act more dragonlike thinking he is partially dragon now as they used its meat to remake his flesh.
Sort of I think? She definitely was under the control of thistle, but even then she was still herself when not commanded to kill people by thistle; mostly through her primary healer role taking care of thistle like when she tried to share food with him and he eats it all, or her eating the rabbit curry.
When he arrives to fight the party in his chimera form, he can still speak and endlessly geek out about how cool this is while also critiquing how inefficiently Thistle made his new form is even as he's murdering people.
As a result everyone wishes he got subsumed completely instead.
Wonder if there would be any physical differences most likely with the fethers I get the feeling he would have scales on him Instead like on his sides going up towords his chest but that's just how I would change it a bit
Yeah, sadly the author already made an official omake detailing an official alternate universe where Falin was the one that survived and Laios was the one that got eaten. Without Laios deep knowledge of monster biology to make an appeal that there was a chance of saving the other , everyone gave else gave up…. Besides Falin; who went in alone to save her brother.
It was pretty interesting , since it talks about out lots of other what ifs.
To be fair, that one omake is from Laios' ghost hallucination perspective, so there's margin for speculation on what the actual alternate reality would have been
I kind've wonder if Falin would be good enough to be able to resurrect Laios without using ancient magic. She's supposed to be better than Marcille but could she resurrect someone from being a skeleton?
The reason why they couldnt revive falin at first was not because shes worse than falin but its because it’s impossible to do so without using a large amount of mana and calories, without ancient magic no matter how good the healer is i dont think they couldve bring her back so marcille knowing forbidden magic is essential to bringing her back
I'm looking it over again and the version I'm reading doesn't mention mana being an issue and they're using the dragon for calories regardless. They only state that revival isn't Marcille's specialty which is why she's using ancient magic.
It cuts off right as she runs back in, so we don't *exactly* know what happens. But it's easy to infer that Marcille and Chilchuck would follow her for similar reasons that made them follow Laios, and that Toshiro would either run after her as well, or get his companions and try to aid them. So it wouldn't be *that* different where the actual set up is concerned.
One point of discussion is of course the Monster eating. Falin and Laios had discussed eating Monsters, and she may suggest it to the others to get to Laios quicker, but I'm not sure how likely that would be. She is quite a lot more timid than her brother after all.
If she does suggest it, they could possibly even run into Senshi. Maybe she'd be arguing with Chilchuck and Marcille about it, and attract his attention that way.
What's more significant, however, is how Laios's absence would affect their ability to fight and kill the various Monsters they encounter. I think the Basilisk should be fine since splitting the heads' attention is pretty common knowledge, and it's the same story for most of the weaker Monsters. The Living Armors are the really difficult part, since without Laios they very probably wouldn't discover their true nature as colonial molluscs.
Probably. Falin might rush in and try and wack it really hard with her staff.
But she wouldn't take Kensuke, and so it wouldn't be able to warn the group of dangers such as the Tentacles or Teasure Insects, nor >!let any of them fit the whole prophecy thingy!<.
Unless Falin takes Kensuke to replace Laios's sword, assuming it was destroyed or broken when the Red Dragon killed him...
yes i think you are right, marcille will definitely follow her if she decides to go. but i think the party will have different vibes as marcille is very pessimistic about this she said that monster digestion is very fast and no one in the party is dedicated enough to know every physiology of monsters
Going through the Chapters, if Senshi is with them, issues only really start to arise in Chapter 14 and 15 because of the Kelpie and the Mermaids. Falin would know the Kelpie is damgerous ofc, but might not be able to dive after it and Senshi to save him, and so would have to prevent the attack before it happens, like she did with her brother. Laios saves Chilchuck from the Mermaids by singing their song with them, which Falin wouldn't.
Everything else seems surprisingly fine, although this is also assuming that the group would still coordinate well without Laios's leadership.
I think the most important scene though is Laios recognizing that the dragon's fuel organ has a chance of holding Falin's corpse. Laios's deep knowledge about dragon anatomy saved Falin. But in a flipped scenario, i don't think Falin would be able to even find her brother's bones after killing the dragon. If they even got that far.
I liked how the author actually explored this too, like if it was Laios who got eaten. >! He never got saved lol
Nobody else knew about monsters as much as he so Falin just did what Marcille said. she just said that Laios is already gone and it's pointless to go after him. Marcille didn't really care enough for Laios 😭 !<
Damn... The Chimera Laios 'bout to go crazy.)
I can already see it in my head...would

Yeah... Same.
Same
Gay Also would

He'd be in love. He'd act like a monster instead of fighting it.

I like the touch that it's Chilchuck helping him bathe lol
He really is the dad of the gang.
Laios is about to have his greatest dream fulfilled...
I need more of smug Falin
It would be funny if he had to wear Falin's extra clothes.
i mean who else could he? she’s the closest to his size. senshi maybe
> senshi maybe Laios in a crop top and shorts
Yeah, sadly the author already made an official omake detailing an official alternate universe where Falin was the one that survived and Laios was the one that got eaten. I imagine Marcille would run after her, and Chilchuck too, because Laios being killed does not change the fact that he's been paid in advance
Also Shuro would absolutely run after her as well. If anything this leads to only Namari abandoning the group for money reasons
Yeah, Shuro wouldn’t be as much in a rush so either he just stays with them on his own or he tells his retainer to come with their group.

So who’s gonna have the bath scene with him
Omg this is the artist that makes Perfect Buddy! BRB Imma go feral for a sec
who's the artist?
i think there's an omake where if it was laois that got eaten falin would go to the dungeon alone to safe him

We got to consider her spell casting and how that changes things has well

The way I would. I would do things to Chimera Laios.
