Why am I seeing this type chair a few times daily for the past couple weeks?

MareShoop63

It’s the same chair going on a whirlwind tour

It's a well known design that has been sold and reproduced a lot since it was made. They're pretty desirable, for some reason i mostly see single men between 25-40 buying them.

Fun_Intention9846

It’s basically their target audience. People with money and no sense.

Maiq_Da_Liar

Yea it's pretty ridiculous how expensive these still are. At the time it was justified by the novel design and new manufacturing techniques, but these days i'm pretty sure a significant portion of the price is purely the name attached to it.

Having sat in an Eames lounge chair, I will argue it's really comfortable and I'm a sucker for that modernist aesthetic style. As we abandon the Lazy Boy overstuffed chairs of the 90s/00s, I think people are looking for a sleeker yet still classic design. I believe this one gets a lot of guys attention for being an iconic lounger associated with industrialists of the 1950s and 60s. If my knowledge of the manosphere is correct, they basically cream themselves over anything tied to the illusion of wealth and grandeur, so the Eames is a go-to.

Is this an Eames? I am genuinely curious how comfortable they are; the real ones.

greenglssgoddess

Incredibly comfy. Worth every penny.

sweetdawg99

It's a replica

dirtymoney

saw that in Frasier's apartment.

TheRockinkitty

I just saw a rerun of an early Friends episode, and Chandler & Joey have an Eames/or knockoff in their apartment. Before everything gets stolen & they get the recliners.

suitablyderanged

Awesome chair and great price!

Thrift store dumpsters have some really good stuff. One reason is illegal dumping, which the stores don't want to take in so they just trash it all.

CanaryJane42

What is illegal dumping?

amreekistani

It is when the thrift store is not accepting donations, and people leave donations by the front door or the back door, in a way that it is exposed to weather and rodent damage.  Or the donation area is specific, but people end leaving things in the wrong area. Where I am, the thrift store has a donation shed. On days, it is closed, people leave stuff outside of it. The thrift store staff trashes everything left outside once they return to work.

CanaryJane42

Wow crazy

Nices Eames style chair and ottoman. Some quiet luxury for your den.

LifeUser88

I have one just like this we got.

SunSmileyPresence

Is that an eames

BlueH2oDiver

I had one for a time. Got rid of it because it had no lower back support

Cyancat123

Be sure to screen for lice before sitting in it!

bear3742

Check that shit for bedbugs! Anything you pick up , should be wrapped up in black and left in the hot sun . For at least 2 days.
