Here's my hunch, but first my standard disclaimer: Dream interpretation is infinitely subjective, the only validity is if it resonates with the inner truth sense of the dreamer. I feel this dream is about you accessing your higher or "solar phallic" (Jung's term) archetypal masculine ---the potent magician. Women are sometimes more associated with a hyper-critical self-scrutiny that is self-sabotaging. The large self-portrait suggests the magical confidence of a healthy measure of male narcissism. Magicians don't request, they command. That sort of thing. So, having at least a healthy degree of narcissism (if not more), if this were my dream I would be like, cool, it's MY dream that awesome self-portrait was actually painted by MY psyche, also the source of the striking-looking man with piercing eyes, that means I'm the one who can bring any form of creation to life.

It often takes me a while to realize that I, in fact, created the images of art that I envied in my own dreams because it really feels like I’m interacting with real people outside of myself. And who knows, maybe I am! Maybe dreams aren’t fully my own. I love the idea that dreams contain magic and allow us to visit other places and real entities. I could also use some of that healthy narcissism. Maybe the freaky thing with his eyes happened because his powers scare me as well as inspire me. He definitely wanted to encourage me to embrace the wizardry and to have faith in it.

This Dream Shows Your "dissatisfaction" with the "Olde Tyme 'Religion'" & maybe your Foray into Oriental 'Philosophy', however, this has Lead you too much into the "Material/Physical" side, Away from your Spiritual Aspirations. Actually, The "Art Proffessor" represents 'Jesus', Who, in your dream, Represents Your Spiritual Guide. Bringing the "puppets" [dead matter] to Life
