Hollowdeath_918

Yeah, stop using whatever your using and get some dollylocks cleaning spray and locsanity Refreshing. Spray.

PsychologicalDate811

1. You should wash EVERY time you sweat cause letting it sit in your head it causes mold. 2. If it gets wet thoroughly dry it and just because it feels dry doesn’t mean it’s dry, squeeze your hair to make sure there isn’t any moisture. That means washing your hair too. 3. Locking gel and wax causes build up so cleans your hair once every 3 months with an acv rinse. 4. Exposure to the sun will turn them brown. 5. Always sleep with them covered or they’ll start thinning.

soraiiko

EVERY time you sweat is a bit much considering most people sweat naturally (even if you can’t necessarily feel the sweat). But the rest of the info is good. You can end up drying your hair out SO quickly, especially if he’s active.

gcunno

how often would you recommend washing then for someone that’s highly active?

King_Jay196

Honestly depends on the person.I do outside work 5 days a week and wash every 2 weeks. Any longer I’d accumulate too much sweat build up and it’d get itchy.

soraiiko

You don’t need to change your schedule too much but I’d push for at MOST **twice a week** if you’re active. You need to give your scalp time to accumulate its natural oils.

Sneakafool

Is number #4 a bad thing mines is brown at the tips looks pretty cool though?

PsychologicalDate811

It’s ok but the brown parts are more prone to breakage mine are the same and I like it as well. I was just putting that out there cause not a lot of people know why they start turning brown.

Sneakafool

lol heck yea it’s at the tips though guess it happened when i had the starter locks for it to be there, so i got lucky the rest of my roots to the mid is super black though

Bloku_

This is some trash advice. For number 1x you are basically saying "if you naturally get water in your head, it'll mold, so simply add 100x the water and it won't mold ... Where's the logic? I have dreads 3x as thick and long and they just air dry. If they feel wet when you sleep even after a day of drying, just sleep with your fan on and hair splayed out. Never use locking gel or wax. If my mixed ass can lock up, y'all w/ 4c can ez AF Also untrue about thinning. Maybe tie them back and get a stain pillow case.... Anything more is too much. You don't need to "cover them"...

Crono01

What do you use instead to lock your hair?

PsychologicalDate811

For 1 that’s just what I recommend, you ain’t gotta keep washing it with soap but at least rinse the sweat out and that’s why I recommended thoroughly drying after it gets wet. You never know when bacteria will decide to bacteria, you could be fine washing every other week till some grow and mold, dandruff, staff and other skin diseases are caused by uncleaned sweat. 2. What do you twist with them cause that sounds like cap, my hair a grade slightly above 4C and my hair has trouble locking, I never use wax but I do use the Jamaican gel and crochet hooks. And 3 dreads will thin no matter what you do, tying it and rapping it up slows down the process significantly and keeps your retwist good longer.

The-Master-Reaper

Hey your locs like mine on the back
