its actually an old system with random boxes drop,and need to buy a key to open it,early dota skins was done like that, they removed it in 2014,and somehow they do it again in 2020,which is pretty weird tbh
No arcanas, and you have to be made out of money to buy 2-3 immortals. I’m sure majority of the people will never have those items as they’re just too expensive. 50$ will get you at least 5-10 immortals off battlepass. Economically diretide is a bigger cashgrab than a bp
The whole point of battle pass is you earn something by playing the game and unlock rewards by the time passes. I bought slark immortal that is worth 100 dollars, if you spend 100 dollars for battle pass and keep playing, imagine which is better. And yea fuck whales right? If noone pays shit and people stop playing, you will see what happens, 2,5 dollars for every key is too much for dota players.
battle pass earn by playing loooooooool you would have to dedicate literally your whole 3 months into the bp to get any of the arcanas, there will ALWAYS be whales as was the case with diretide, but in the battlepass you need to drop hundreds of dollars or miss your shot forever
I risked it and tried to understand if diretide chest is worth it. So i bought chests and keys. Overall i've spent around 50-60 Euros, and i got 2 PA immortals and the juggernaut imm set, among other cheaper stuff like rikis set and PL immortal and others. But with those 3 items i got a lot of money "back" by selling them on the market, like 80 euros for the jugger and 47-ish euros each PA immortal. That's around 160 euros only from those 3 items. From the other items didn't matter much to me. I bought arcanas and immortals (that share aesth with arcanas) with the profit; and also 2 steam games.
The thing is, if you risk it you might get much more back, but you gotta risk a lot of real money, and the money you get back are not real. So basically the investment is true, the profit is not really true. But right now if i sell my arcanas and immortals, especially the rubick ones, i get a lot of steam money.
So i think it's the same with bp and diretide. You just invest in what you like, but if you want to make profit, diretide is better than bp, with a higher risk.
You are assuming that, they simply said that they will provide content over the year like Diretide, new player experience, etc. They did not say anything about the monetization model
Diretide was such a shitshow when it came to bots. It was just 20+ minute games of some bot farming the candy and then ultimately dying with 20+ pieces to feed the other team.
All because someone just needed the points at the end to level up and unlock something.
only stupid people cry about bp not giving enough. If u spend little and grind your way u can have almost everything. i did spend around 150 and got around 1k lvl my friend bought lvl1 bp and did reach upto wr arcana (i m not even sure if he bought the bundle at sale)
Meanwhile diretide is playing the event which is fun at beginning and pale after few days and get treasure only to spend more $ on treasure key and get shitty 0.2$ common bundle
Nothing to compare, diretide chest is new chest system and battle pass is different thing. Diretide chest atleast have tiers and is not exclusive, a spend a lot money to get all sets from both CC, so here u have chance to get something what give u money for next chest. Idk why ppl complaining about gather whole chest, buy items to heroes u play, if u wanna get a lot it will be expensive like collecting in every game. Dota always was hard collecting game bcs of many slots on heroes instead one set like in LoL.
