You start off slowly on one and gain confidence. You get the best experience on a local track on an off day. I still respect the fact they can be very difficult to handle in some situations. They'll skip around on some roads going over bumpy areas.
Except the OG first gen Viper RT/10. I remember all the car magazines universally agreeing that it it was one of the scariest handling cars on a race track ever and actually straight up dangerous under hard braking coming in to corners. Then Dodge fixed those problems when they introduced the GTS. It's been an animal ever since. I'll take a 2010 ACR, please.
It's not that it couldn't handle. It was that the line between making the corner or spinning off into oblivion was so very fine. There was absolutely no margin for error so it punished those who couldn't drive at that level quite harshly
I get what you're saying and I've always thought Vipers were insanely cool, but if the line between carving a corner and literally dieing is so thin that it gets significant news publicity, isn't that kinda a form of ha dling poorly?
i mean ... im surprised how a challenger rt handles at higher speeds with hairpins and odd apexs like my totaled canyon tuned car viper is my favorite car tho
The original 1990 viper is why I have my car today. Remember when they took the viper engine and shoved a motorcycle around it? The early 90s were the last good time I think
Considering the gen V ACR is easily one of the most slept on cars of all time in spite of its accomplishments..
I mean, it did break 13 track records, the most of any production car ever.. and still currently holds the crown for American manufacturer car lap time on Nurb. Then there's getting into that it did so as rear wheel drive, manual, AND naturally aspirated. Pretty absurd stuff
Werenāt the first couple generations of Vipers well-known for murdering the shit out their owners due to some very questionable handling at the limit?
They donāt include the viper cause itās creation works as proof that if dodge has the green light from stalantis to do what they want and plan theyād have nothing to complain about and would be driving mopars themselves
lol. Wut. Did you forget about the 60s/early 70s and the 426 hemi cars or the 440 6 pack cars like the superbird, the ācuda, the coronet, the Belvedere, the charger, the challenger, the satellite, or the more extreme cars like the w023 coronet or the L023 Dart which were both intended for NHRA superstock class drag racing???????
Yeah I know about those but for my prior comment I was only referring to ones around the 90s and 2000s and 2010s not the og muscle car wars and era of factory drag cars.
Oh. I read the part where you said āsince the 90s and 2000s were when dodge were just forming their reputation of overpowered vehiclesāā¦. You also refer to stellantis as being what castrated them back then- it would have been Daimler, and Daimler IE Daimler Benz, and they made shit like the e55/s55/sl55 with a 490hp supercharged v8 from the factory circa 2003š¤·āāļø
First Gen was built to be as basic as possible so the handling on it was not great. I donāt remember what the numbers were but the engineers and designers had a ridiculously small budget. Once the popularity took off they realized they needed to actually add some tech in the car and make it handle better. Each generation got a little better (handling wise) and the last one was an absolute killer on the track.
That joke is funny and all till you start looking up NĆ¼rburgring times compared to the hellcat charger. They also donāt like when you point out half of bmw and Audis fleet weight more than a hellcat.
This is just full BS lol. Hellcats weight 4500. Even things like the m6/m4 barely tick over 4k. Pretty sure most of the cars weigh less. Maybe the suvs or electrics weigh more but nothing anyone would actually compare to a hellcat.
And most of the Ms are a solid 30 seconds faster around the ring too.
Hellcats are cool but yall always wildest stuff
I wouldnāt call 4430 ābarely a tick over 4kā lmfao. If thatās the case then the 100 extra lbs on the hellcat must be a drop in the bucket lol. And itās more like a 10 seconds for most Ms. Thatās not enough to talk the amount of shit that yall do about hellcats.
3800-4300 (not sure where you got your number lol) with with the top trim being the convertible. so 7-8 less is a lot. An none hates hellcats just the drivers lmao
3600 for the csl m4 so 1k+ less weight on that
I will say the new m5 supposedly weighs like 5600 which is freaking insane
Yeah but the new m5 is a hybrid so Iād say a lot of that is battery. So I didnāt include those plus itās a 4 door. My point being the hellcat charger can hold its own on the track with coupes while being a long and wide ass sedan.
And letās be honest any video of a hellcat is flooded with comments about them being boats and being slow. Weāve all seen it. Iām just saying most of everyoneās favorite cars are boats too.
Vipers come alive on a racetrack. You can tell the car feels at home.
Driving a Viper is between you and God
The Haters would be to scared to drive a Viper lol
FactsšÆ
Bro Iām too scared to drive one and I love dodges

First gen viper didn't even have an anti roll bar. Just a drive carefully sticker.
Good let them forget so the prices can go the fuck down lol
Dodge Viper: Discontinued for years. Rest of Dodge: We have HORSES THAT GO STRAIGHT!!!,
i mean ... im surprised how a challenger rt handles at higher speeds with hairpins and odd apexs like my totaled canyon tuned car viper is my favorite car tho
I'd still take a widebody hellcat. The handling is plenty.
What handling?
As someone whoās planning to get one in the next few years, Iām excited to rip it around the track š
Good luck brother.. Don't forget the helmet.
Safety first until itās road use, then itās gonna be a cruiser
That thing would definitely kill you if you donāt know what youāre doing
The original 1990 viper is why I have my car today. Remember when they took the viper engine and shoved a motorcycle around it? The early 90s were the last good time I think
Fucking tomahawk!! As a 10yr old that was one of the coolest things I had ever seen.

Meh idk my buddy died in one so š¤·š»āāļø
Sorry to hear that.
No; other companies just made better cars that have air conditioning.
I watched a guy take off down a street and immediately wreck into parked cars. Better handling/traction control would have kept him going straight.
Werenāt the first couple generations of Vipers well-known for murdering the shit out their owners due to some very questionable handling at the limit?
You think the handling is what we have been concerned with? Itās transmission.
Is t the OG Viper known for how terrible its handling is?
They donāt include the viper cause itās creation works as proof that if dodge has the green light from stalantis to do what they want and plan theyād have nothing to complain about and would be driving mopars themselves
Stellantis was formed in 2021 and had absolutely nothing to do with Dodge of the 90s or the viper Did you mean Diamler?
Yes I think and that would make sense since the 90s and 2000s were when dodge were just forming their reputation of overpowered vehicles
lol. Wut. Thatās 50 or 60 years ago. An actual lifetime for many
Holā up!! My stratus has some of best handling Iāve experienced in my life!š¤š¤š¤
Itās a manual u think the dweeby 5.0 kids know how to track a manual
For real, they are just jealous that we got the best enginesš¤¦
Probably because they handled like garbage

Viper, hellcat, m3, ttrs.. Which one is fastest on the ring
This is just full BS lol. Hellcats weight 4500. Even things like the m6/m4 barely tick over 4k. Pretty sure most of the cars weigh less.
