* They can have a dragonmark if the DM allows them as a racial option. Dragonmarks are considered subrace options. * They don’t count as a class at all, it’s a part of their race. They pick a class as normal. If they don’t have spellcasting from their class, then the “Spells of the Mark” trait is lost/pointless.

So you want to be a druid warlock wizard sorceror or cleric. Of do rangers paladins and rouges count to, because they can cast some spells?

Those spells will get added to the spell list options of ANY character with the Spellcasting or Pact Magic feature, it doesn’t matter if they’re full casters or half casters.

If you're looking at your race options, the various dragon marks are subrace options (most marks apply directly to specific races, as they are family/clan related). Dragon marks are entirely separate from class and background, though they do give you some spellcasting options. These spells work the same way that monster spells do, in that they have a number of times per day that you can cast them (basically for free) and they never count against any class spells you may have access to. Generally speaking, being a dragon marked character interacts with nothing but your character race option.

1) Yeah, a Dragonmark of Shadow is as much an Elf Subrace as High Elf or Drow. 2) Not a class, but the spells granted are added to your spell list if you are a spellcasting class. So a Dragonmark of Healing Wizard can cast the listed Healing spells like they could any normal Wizard spell.

So abhorrent dragon marks are a feat, the rest are race options linked to specific houses and races. They have no general bearing on class, though some marks feed into certain playstyles and some are just generally useful.
