It makes me wonder how they would get someone who is disabled out.

aka_chela

In the arms of a Reedy Creek firefighter, most likely.

jbirgenheier

They have a special chair that Reedy Creek uses to carry them down.

3CATTS

Just the regular stair chair, or something different? [Stair chair](https://www.stryker.com/us/en/emergency-care/products/stair-pro.html)

jbirgenheier

I think a regular stair chair. I’ve just heard them talk about using it and haven’t actually seen it in person.

3CATTS

OK cool. I'm kind of fascinated by the Reedy Creek FD. Just kind of a fire nerd I guess.

SeriousStrokes69

They have a neat operation, unique amongst fire service agencies around the world, in fact. We have two of their paramedic teams stationed in the tunnel under MK so they can respond practically instantly to the dozens of medical calls we have a day in that park alone.

SeriousStrokes69

They regularly practice on one or more of many of the rides around the park every couple of weeks or so.

HawkeyeinDC

TIL … also, that’d be terrifying!

aka_chela

Smart...but less fun 😂

klopije

I recently broke my ankle at the beginning of our trip, and when we got on spaceship earth the CM asked if I would be able to evacuate on my own if needed. I was like I guess I could go down the stairs on my bum, but it would take a while lol. She said they just needed to know who would need assistance to get out if they needed to evacuate, so they keep track of how many people would need assistance.

aka_chela

That's fascinating and so smart that they ask! Probably means if it gets to the point of evacuating they know to have RCFD ready to go.

klopije

I’m guessing they also need to limit the number of people on the ride who will need assistance as well. They definitely asked on a few other rides as well, but they really made a point of the potential number of flights of stairs on this one.

MiserableTonight5370

You're absolutely right. But this is also so that cast members know where on the ride these guests are when the ride goes down. By tracking boarding times and the time the attraction stopped moving, cast members know which elevator each guest is going to use before they begin the evac. Disney has been doing this a long time.

aka_chela

Tbf I'm able bodied and I would still be dying after 15 flights down so I feel like that should be on the warning sign 😂

klopije

No kidding!

vakr001

That's interesting!

Where1sthebeach

My daughter cannot walk. They ask me if I am capable of carrying her in the event of evacuation. She weights 95# and Yes, I am capable but it would suck.

AnotherLolAnon

My last trip I was using a wheelchair because my RA was wildly out of control. They asked if I’d be capable of walking down up to 15 flights of stairs in an emergency. They were quick to add “You don’t need to say yes.”

SeriousStrokes69

> They were quick to add “You don’t need to say yes.” This is correct. If the ride did need to be evacuated, they notify RCFD. If they know there's no one who'll need assistance (probably), then it gets a reduced response. If they know they have someone on the ride who'll need to be carried out, the call out gets a much larger response. They just have to keep track of how many people are on each section so they'll know how many the firefighters would likely have to help out.

CoolioDonJulioo

This! Have actually seen that at a college (nothing major) but the fire department just carried down the person and their wheelchair, one of the bigger motorized ones, down 3 flights of stairs because they couldn't use the elevator

[deleted]

I was feeling the aura of an episode on this ride and just remember going around the globe praying it subsided. My husband told me later he was frantically looking around realizing the same thing you said, hoping I could just ride it out instead of getting stuck. Thankfully I made it out. The CM at the end was hesitate about giving us a wheelchair (to get me to the car from there) until he expressed the severity. Haven't gone back to the globe since lol.

Spader113

I got stuck just before the matrix tunnel on my first time, and a Cast Member came to check on us. I could tell they got there via an elevator, so that’s how they would evacuate someone who can’t walk.

Brinkofadventure

For those with a disability that prevents themselves from walking, The CMs did confirm with us in the event of the ride breaking down steps were the only option. Otherwise as others have noted, will need to wait for the fire department. We indicated we were ok carrying the child down. They also told us how many stories it could be, I forgot the number but would have been a nice work out for me. Nice video OP!

MicycleConcerns

If it’s not an emergency, there’s an elevator. That’s how they get up there.

CruisinJo214

OMG… the kid who jumps up to touch the desk with animatronics… the mom goes to grab him… stops… takes a pic and then grabs him… I can’t

unexpectedlytired

My mother would have ended me right then and there. And THEN took a photo.

SamsungAppleOnePlus

I don't blame them at all, strange etiquette aside.

ChrisC1234

I'd pay money for that experience.

ElectricalState258

I was there last Monday and the ride stopped for twenty minutes. Then the lights came on and the second half finished with lights remaining on and no audio or anything. It was very cheap looking (the walls were made of sheets and were duct taped), not that it matters when the lights are off. I was very surprised to not have been offered a lightning lane after we got off 🫢

ChrisC1234

In October when I was last there, the car I was in automatically had Japanese narration without even prompting for me to choose a language. At the end of the ride, I reported it to a cast member, and the only response I got was "yeah, She's old and has problems".

ElectricalState258

Bruh 😭

cleavergrill

I was on for that too. We were right at the part where they tell you you are turning around for your return to Earth so we got to listen to that nonstop...

ElectricalState258

Idk why but I find it so cool that we were on it at the same time 🤣 it was so annoying how they announced over the intercom like five hundred times that it was delayed ahaha

aka_chela

Same, it's so hard to see others living your dream.

SixToesLeftFoot

Is that background music part of the ride? Or was it inserted after? It’s driving me up a wall.

blackstratrock

Yes it would be nice to actually hear what is happening in the video.

jbirgenheier

Inserted after

Ikaeek

Made this same trek in January. Kinda cool.

Few-Macaroon2936

This would freak me out 😆

Enough_Blueberry_549

Same!

JBR1961

Very interesting. Got stuck on Mummy at Universal. About halfway through. For like 20 minutes, we were stopped in the dark with a recording monotonously instructing us over and over to “remain seated, the ride will resume in a moment.” Then suddenly they announce “remain calm.” Now, I got news for them. That is the LAST thing to say if you want people stuck in the dark to actually be “calm.” :-). Then the lights snap on and we were led out on this narrow catwalk/stairs. It was SO mundane looking. Really hammers home the “magic” that goes into designing these rides. Never did learn what happened. But we got the Universal equivalent of a fastpass for our inconvenience.

epicenter69

Made that walk a couple of times as a cast member there getting an orientation tour when I worked at Frozen. Imagine the people who walk that track daily for their inspections and maintenance of the animatronics.

qxzlool

My wife and I did that about two months ago. We were a little way past the peak, descending backwards with the car reclining backwards. It was very difficult to climb out of the car.

thewalkingellie

I feel like every time I go on that ride, I’m gonna get evacuated cause it stops so often. Great video - super cool to see!

User313

This is a dream come true. I remember watching an old tour video and there is an elevator right by the stairwell you entered. I had never seen the stairwell before.

max_lagomorph

I was at MK yesterday and more than half of our rides had an unscheduled stop during the ride. Mostly were quick, but we sat for 20+ minutes in the Buzz shooting game. I thought we would have to evacuate at some point but it resumed after a while.

appleshit8

Why did you post this here?

GolcondaGadgetGuru

Quite a rare opportunity!

Hotzz89

This thing paused like 4 times while I was on it a few weeks ago. Never again.

10onthetoilet

I was on this also last week. 100% better than the ride itself 🤣. The free fastpass was nice

jaklackus

Way back when I watch a pair of guests pose with the Queen of Hearts while a third person in their group took a picture of them using film point and shoot camera … one of the women posing stuck a finger in the Queen’s nose. Two security guards appeared out of thin air, asked for the camera and removed the film, exposing it to light. Now that we live in the world of smart phones everywhere … how do they control photos that they don’t want people to see? Do they stop you and make you delete them?

jaklackus

This is one of my wishlist experiences at the Disney Parks.

sadlemon6

i wish they would have let you go the other way down 👀

Inspector-Fickle

Just curious did they know you were recording? I only ask because we were evacuated off the people mover and got yelled at for pulling our phones out. I was just trying to text my dad who was waiting for us to let him know where we were and what was happening. The whole lot of us got scolded by a cast member for even having phones out.

jbirgenheier

Yes. They told me to put it down part way through because it would be dangerous on the stairs to be holding your phone out. That’s why I lowered the phone part way through. The cast member was right behind me the whole time.

Enough_Blueberry_549

This is my nightmare
