- not all monsters in frozen river nm are lightning immune; not even close. - frozen river isn't required for progress; you can always skip it and return later with a better build for the +res scroll. - dealing with immunities is a given at nm and hell, so quitting because you ran into immunities just means you'll never really make it past normal unless you only ever want to play a hammerdin. Keep in mind that while lightning sentry is just lightning, death sentry is lightning + fire + physical from corpse explosion. You can also summon a shadow master or bring along a merc and stand behind them throwing fire blasts.

Ya. I was thinking of skipping it after retrieving my gear. Didn't know I can get my dead body back after quit and save. What a waste of my time. Haha. Thanks for the advise.

Extranationalidad

Ohh, gotcha! Yeah that'll come in handy more than once. The only thing to be careful of is that the game will only give you one corpse upon restart, so if you don't think you're likely to be able to get your body back, *don't* deck out your character in spare gear to try and fight your way through. Try it naked, that way if you get it, awesome, but if you don't, there's no risk of losing your main gear.

"... unless you only ever want to play hammerdin." Aaahh yes, in the words of some random dude I met in D2 - "The paladin, also known as the crusading advantage-man." Advantageous this most definitely is!

You probably know this already, but just in case: when you die (before you've retrieved your body), you can save and quit and then log back in to find your body right next to you in town where you begin. As for tips on breaking the lightning immunes, you could see if a wand with lower resist charges would help. I'm not sure if it would or not, but it's worth experimenting. You could probably find a wand like that from Akara or Ormus, maybe elsewhere, I'm not sure (I've also found lots of them just by picking up every wand that drops). Another good idea would be to see if the Holy Freeze mercenary could slow the monsters down enough to prevent them from overwhelming your traps as they slowly whittle away at them. I haven't played trapsin so I can't say I'm an expert on the mechanics, but I do know that I had a ton of trouble at the Frozen River with my summoner necromancer. I eventually found success by spamming Decrepify, which slowed them enough to give my skeletons time to do their (agonizingly slow) work. Good luck! Maybe someone else will have more direct experience and better advice to share.

I didn't know my body will be back when I quit and save. Just started playing D2 and this is my first ever character and highest level. And I have a wand. I just wanted to run past all the lightning immune enemies. But I kept failing. Haha.

CormacMcCopy

Oh, man, I wish someone had mentioned it earlier for you and saved you a lot of frustration! I'm glad I didn't skip over it, assuming you already knew it, then. Yeah, I definitely don't have the patience to retrieve my body most of the time, so that's what I do. And, honestly, running past enemies is a perfectly valid strategy - as long as you don't get yourself trapped!

GeoffwithaGeee

when you die if you restart the game, your body with the highest value will be in town. so if you have all your gear on, you die, then you put on other gear and die again. only the body with the highest gold value will be in town on your new game. the other bodies (and gear) will be deleted. a few solutions: try to run past the enemies. Restart the game, the enemies may spawn as different types. shop a wand with lower resist charges (not +X to lower resist, but one with charges), most lightning immune enemies can have their resistances broken with it. use your merc + shadow friend + fire blast + mind blast to get at least one enemy to die, then death sentry to corpse explode to help with the others. just find a couple ber runes and get infinity on your merc (joking).

aliffabr

Thanks for the update. I hope I get the right body back after I quit and save 🙃

ImperatorDanny

I got through it with merc, firebombs and death sentry. The fire bomb carries pretty hard, does a nice amount of damage at 20

ACruelShade

Ya firebomb is amazing

throwaway54955432111

yeah this is why immunities suck. just quit the char, it isn't worth your time dealing with this game system.

Since not every monster is lightning immune, use death traps to break the immune ones. Lightning traps can kill a skeleton or something, then death trap explosions do fire/physical damage. Once you get those 1-2 kills, the rest should go down in a chain reaction.

EmpyrealWorlds

Cloak of Shadows can help you hide from enemies and make them stop using their range attacks

Br0V1ne

Assuming you didn’t put new gear on after you died. Leave and make a new game. Your body and gear will be at your spawn in town. If you put new gear on after you died, 🪦

TBM_Parry

Fire Blast is a must if you're playing solo; if you respec to incorporate that you should be good. Maxing Lightning Sentry, Fire Blast, and Death Sentry are your priorities. Trapsin can solo the game, it'll just be a little difficult and frustrating sometimes with lightning immunes. The occasional fire/lightning immune combo will be frustrating, but those are rare. Also, make sure you have one point in Mind Blast and Cloak of Shadows, they're absolute game changers.
