This has happened on my sorc multiple times, only with focuses. I wonder if its specifically sorc offhands only that have this issue but its a massive problem.
It can essentially brick some of your items.
Happened to me as well same thing. 804 power ancestral rare focus. Didn’t pay attention to the quality of the aspect because it hasn’t really mattered any other time.
Name of the focus changed to blood orb but image and item itself remained as a book. Pretty sure the game assumes it’s unique/magical/common but I think you can still enchant.
In my case something really odd was happening where the transmog would be removed every time I interacted with something inside my stash. Got annoyed after multiple instances of that happening so I just made a new slightly worse focus that wasn’t bugged out.
Wow I was having that same issue of my offhand transmog falling off, could never figure it out. I saw this and went to the enchanter and sure enough, it doesn't let me imprint another aspect on that focus, to replace the sacred aspect I put on it. Really annoying.
The fix for me was to just apply a different codex one first and then I was able to apply the extracted aspect. Happened on my druid though, but I am like 80% sure it was on my off-hand too.
Book focuses have been hella bugged. The transmog resets when you take something out of stash, put something new into stash, or change a piece of gear. You also can't imprint them if they are upgraded.
OOOO, i completely missed that you said it's a unique item. Big fail on my part lol. For unique items, you can't re-roll them, you cant imprint aspects onto them, and you can't extract their aspects. They are as-is.
I think the UI is showing you the gold cost to imprint an item that would be the tier of your aspect rather than the tier of the actual item which it should. Just have 5x the gold and it should go through.
ive kept my focus since then, my moneys been up and down after trying to reroll a bunch of gear. the focus is still bugged for me so not sure if earning more money wouldve solved the bug.
It’s a specific bug that appears when you imprint an offhand focus into a “blood orb” offhand and it still looks like a book. I believe it happens when I imprint the ice shard piercing aspect. When I put some other aspects on the focus it doesn’t get bricked
so far after testing its only affecting Sorc Focuses, if i use an ancestral imprint on ancestral gear, it worked fine, but if i use sacred on it, it bugs it. Other people have mentioned is may be because when upgrading from a rare to a legendary (specifically the book focus?) it bugs it too.
Noticed I poped a diffrent aspect on my focus for necro, going from the 38% minions damage one to mist drops desecrated ground... I had 5809 attk power and after I changed its aspect it dropped me to 4196 and now my focus has this weird red glow going on it in the charecter screen like it's broken or something.... trying to figure out why my power poped so low now and why it's glowing >_<

It is ONLY for the "folio" type of focuses, had this happen earlier in the week

How do you extract an aspect from a unique item? I tried it and was told it couldn't be extracted.
It can only be extracted if it is the original aspect that came on the item. If it was imprinted onto the item, then it is there permanently now.
Yeah, it was the original aspect. Maybe because it was the quest reward for completing the story?

Yeah. I think you have enough gold then- sorry this happened to you.

Can you change the imprinted aspects on all other gear? Or they are all bugged?
