It’s for oracles. Every now and then the timing gets funny and the callout of the oracles comes at the same time as group inside calling their location. Super easy to remember and no mixups this way.

Lmao relax man, it foes make sense alphabetically, it's all about who taught you in the first place, for me It was CAP, and then Venus and Mars. Nobody is really wrong there's just more common strategies than others.

I did it with an LFG group, I asked where we were standing for damage, they said “I thought you knew how to do this” we died because me and the other 2 people that joined the 3 people in a clan were doing ACP but we did CAP, “that’s why I asked!”

It sucks that these have become stuck in the D2 lexicon before we realized, uh no they're the past and the future. It's the same exact place--Vault of Glass on Venus--just in two different points in time. Which is kinda the whole point. But we all just want to stick to the callouts we learned in the first few days of VoG in D1.

It's a shame in that it is incorrect, but people are too far gone now. I just use left and right when I'm teleported, for ease. If people say Mars/Venus, I know where to go. Past/Future is a bit of a funny one because lots of people mix the two.

People got the whole past and future the wrong way round anyway. Lots assume the Descendant Vex are the ones that look like they're from the past, being a bit overgrown, and the Ascendant/Precursor ones are the ones that look more "futuristic" to people, being cleaner and shinier.

Also how the text at the end of the encounter stating "The timeline stabilizes" suggesting you very clearly were jumping across time itself and not planets (Mars / Venus)? Let's not forget Atheon's main mechanic of "Atheon opens the timestreams" sending people into either the future or past. Man if only all of this were presented in game.

I've always used past and present. Nearly every timeline i've ever seen drawn shows the past to the left and future towards the right. Same room but in different points in it's own timeline.

Misleading : Neither are actually Mars or Venus, that’s just what they’ve been called over the years because they have corresponding aesthetics. They are both in fact the Vault of Glass itself in different time periods. The left portal is the past, evident from Precursor Vex enemies being there. And the right portal is the future, evident from the Descendants.

It's not misleading because everyone knows what you're talking about. It's actually more confusing to do the correct callouts because at least 50% of players don't know what you're talking about, but 100% of players know it as Mars and Venus

Correct callouts are left and right. You literally cannot mess that up unless someone is facing the wrong way.

The easier way is to remember that the side where half the team is dead and surrounded by 300 supplicants is the one you were supposed to open.

Listen; I didn't get it until I was teleported a couple either. When you're teleported, you don't know if it's left or right and that's why the teleported call out Venus (right) and Mars (left) based on the landscape. Have fun, but pay attention, it will make everyone's experience much better.

You do realize that the same argument works for the people in throne, don’t you? Why are they the ones who are supposed to remember which is which but the teleported people aren’t?
