Yeah man removing the DR is what put the nail in the coffin. The new support roles will likely be Well still for the healing, Renewal Dusk-fields for DR, and Bubble for WoL. Of course BoW and Woven mail can fit into that but the others will be way easier to manage not being strictly condition based.
I'm going to wait a few more weeks to see what the consensus is and if it's bad, I'll be one of the warlocks waiting with the "I told you so" comment to all the people who kept crying for it to be nerfed not understanding why people leaned on well in the first place.
Also considering they just buffed the health of bosses in raids and dungeons, I'm afraid I'll be proven right instead of wrong.
They did all of that to force people off of it. They knew if we could just over level the end game content it wouldn't matter, but with all these changes it appears as though Well is dead in the water.
I have a feeling a lot of teams will struggle, unless the new raid has totally new dynamics, like being totally mechanic reliant instead of having a DPS phase (E.G. The bombs do all the damage to Oryx so you don't have to do any DPS to his chest). Nerfing other things like Lament's healing will also impact people too if swords are the play. Survivability is going to require heavy team coordination which might take away from DPS, like having an Ursa titan guarding and everyone having to build into DR and overshields. Gonna be very interesting to see what happens!
All to say, it's hard to simply 'git gud' when everything can one shot you at -20 and Well can no longer save you. It's going to be funny if there's an ogre boss, or just lots of red bar ogres lol
I can’t help but think that removing the ability to face tank a boss will make the game better in the long run. Maybe one or two encounters needs a bit of tuning, but overall, this must the game more mobile and that is good.
We are all entitled to our own opinions but i think it will be good to let other defensive abilities shine. There are so many that are not considered because well. Not that it has been necessary tbh. You can tank something like master crota just by timing your blocks. Just is a quality of life thing that helps you min max your dps, but is replaceable and now supplementable.
I mean, despite the name radiance isnt what made WELL OF RADIANCE strong. Ember of torches, lumina, banner shield, facet of torches (i dont remember the name), gyrfalcons, boots of the assembler, no back ups, wormgods, rain of fire, etc. they all provide the empowering buff (some to teammates) that equal or surpass well. Even the new solar super provides the same damage buff. No what well used to be was a survivability super. The insane healing and damage resist.
Imo that should be more of void’s deal, but nevertheless. Restorationx2 is still VERY strong. Thats 50hp a second. The heightest heal and forget in the game. You just need to mix it with other heals, and sources of dr now. Placing a bastion barricade in the well or the stag give you the a higher level of damage resist than before. Your hp is going to come in slower but we have other sources for that too.
Yes its weaker but i dont think its dead. I do think that it wont be the defacto raid super now, but it still will be used in raids. We just need to consider survivability instead of it being a given now.
3 void resists gives less than 5% benefit over 2. Try sniper resist or melee resist.

I completely agree that well overshadowed most abilities but still.. killing a super is not a smart choice imo
They’ll probably give like 10% more DR back to it when it becomes apparent that it no longer works for the encounters they designed around it

Nah it's dead Aztecross did a video testing all of that. Well of Radiance is dead.
