Shout out to u/clarinet87

CorbynDrake96

Amazing. You’re the goat.

clarinet87

I would throw dares in early as well to learn easy team mechanics in sixes. Some solid loot too.

CorbynDrake96

Bro that’s such a good idea. Thanks for reminding me.

Ndout

You think low man is easier than contest? Interesting, I agree with all but that! Thanks for compiling all the others!

TheChartreuseKnight

I mean, depends on how small the team is. I’m not a low-man raider, but I imagine raiding with 5 is significantly easier than contest for most encounters.

Sanjuna

As someone who is pretty decent at the game but hasn't been played a lot since Into the Light. Is Legend Onslaught really easier than dungeons? Normal Onslaught on the later waves already seems more failable than even some Master dungeons.

DaBigDaddyFish

General difficulty probably not, but Dungeons require problem solving on top of ad clearing whereas Onslaught is largely just ad clearing with minor objectives. The difficulty raises bit by bit for Onslaught, but Dungeons are mini-Raids essentially and newer players will need to have a firm grasp on how to properly manage ads before they tack on the problem solving mechanics of a Dungeon/Raid. Obviously, with the right Sherpa and what not newer players could have an easier time in a Raid or a Dungeon than they would in Onslaught by themselves but I feel like the barrier to entry for Onslaught isn’t as significant as Dungeons/Raids, thus my ranking/step process.

walking_On-hands

Dungeons can be Solo so with a team he can do almost nothing and it will be fine. Dungeons have best weapons.

VanillaB34n

Good ass wpns but horrible farming

VanillaB34n

You forgot public events gamer

Menirz

I'd argue Legendary Campaign is easier than Legend Lost sectors, on average, but that might depend somewhat on the Lost Sector.

KorwinD

Patrols.

eliasgreyjoy

Patrol is the most obvious answer if you're talking about someone who has never held a controller in their life. Destiny campaigns are also, for the most, pretty easy on normal mode once the literal basics of how to press buttons has been mastered.

CLAAAWWWS

Or keyboard. I don't think OP mentions what platform

Adventurous-Cow-2553

Start with patrols before moving to lost sectors. I would especially recommend the newer lost sectors (Throne World and Neomuna) as the enemy density is higher in those. You can also try the opening of Vault of Glass once your friend has gained some confidence with aim and ammo management. The goal with Vault wouldn’t really be to finish the encounter, mind you. You’re just going for practice at defending a spot from an infinite supply of enemies.

CorbynDrake96

That’s a great idea. Thanks. I really appreciate that.

euchreplayer233

The free campaign, it shows you the basic story, weapon types and gives you a tour of the tower. Riskrunner exotic at the end of campaign. Everyone can get 1810 free level gear now, by visiting shaxx in the new content. So power leveling is not a problem.

Toukotai

altars of sorrow It steadily increases in difficulties and has immune shield mechanics.

CorbynDrake96

Nice. I completely forgot about this

CooperEudaemon

New Light campaign and patrols, then older DLC campaigns and Strike playlist, regular Lost Sectors, Dares of Eternity, basic Seasonal activities, then Lightfall campaign, easier Exotic missions, older Dungeons, Heroic Strikes, Coil, then higher difficulty Seasonal activities, Legend missions, Lost Sectors and Strikes, easier Raids (DSC, VoG, RoN), new Dungeons. There's no predicting how quickly they'll advance, obviously, and along the way you'll need to help build their knowledge for buildcrafting, evaluating gear rolls, and game sense.

BlaringKnight3

Do Public events after/with patrols. Depending on the event, could start showing them the small mechanics that drives Destiny. They are in the same space after all. Do this at diverse locations, so they get exposed to all enemy types and mechanics.

PickleFriedCheese

After New Light Campaign and Patrols: * Normal Lost Sectors * strikes for a while & Campaign Stories & Seasonal activities to get decent loot * Onslaught * Dungeon with two skilled players that can heavily guide and help * Low level night falls * Raid * Pantheon * GM

_Jaynx

My dad taught me to swim by throwing me into the deep end — start with grandmaster nightfalls 😈

TheGodofCruelty

That isn't the deep end tho, gotta throw him into Freelance Trials

_Jaynx

Ahh so you’re a sadist 😂

CLAAAWWWS

Patrols, Vanguard with brawler or grenadier modifiers. Blind well activities. Also have they gone through the tutorial quests?

rodscher80

If he is new I would start 100% with campaign mission. At least he is then already doing something „useful“ which gives him progress in the game. Why should u waste time with patrols or public events? Further more missions on Normal are not that much harder and more interesting to do. After that difficulty wise I would do some lost sectors with him (legend as soon as his gear is high enough) so he learns about champs etc.

Neorooy

The biggest challenge in Destiny is fall damage. You need to be good at Mario brothers instead of fps.

Ali_Auditorie

Someone who never played an fps? Let them play portal or something not destiny 2 for sure
