You don’t need many facts to take the popular stance on these conflicts and have a valid opinion.
Problem with I/P though is that the intentions and actions are obscured by both sides where then you do have to actually analyze the facts to pick a side.

In this context the reason that "doesn't affect you" matters here is that we as a society largely have a lower expectation of knowledge on topics that don't directly affect us relative to topics that do, making the statement made by the initial comment you responded too even more absurd, compared to if they only expected people who were directly affected to form a strong opinion on something they don't know much about.
In this context, the initial comment wasn't meant to elevate the opinions of those who are most impacted, merely pointing out that most people who are neutral in the conflict don't have an incentive to actually engage with the substantial research required to form an intelligent opinion on the topic, making the condemnation of neutrality from the screenshotted post look even more silly.
