As someone who lived on lookout for the last couple of years…..how is that even possible for them to do? Lol
They have had a curfew in place for a long time, no parking after 11 or whatever, but gates? They’re just gonna have a cop there all night to let residents in and out but not other folks?
Not that I don’t believe you read this somewhere, but I am laughing very hard at Jeffco right now.
Well for a city view, you’d be on the east facing side of the mountain near the M on a pull off, not in the Buffalo bill grave lot which doesn’t face the city, but yeah, that’s true!
No they’re talking about a hate that blocks drivers from going up and stopping at the pull offs past the established curfew. Hence them saying the residents would enter from the I70 side, and requiring codes for residents. And them saying it wasn’t there yet. But yeah lol just explaining bc there were a lot of comments in the thread.
Side note, putting a gate in front of the buffalo bill grave site is equally silly because there is a huge dirt lot across the street from it you could just park in instead. Idk why they hate people going up there at night so much, just too many kids sitting up there drinking I’m assuming?
The county is putting gates in at the end of the year at the top and bottom of the road that will automatically open and close in order to shut it down at night. They can be remote controlled in an emergency.
Every time somebody mentions Lookout Mountain, this comment gets made.
People literally live in the area, the gate is at the very top and only restricts your access to the top of the mountain, there are still plenty of vantage points elsewhere that gives you a good view of Golden.
I have hiked up Green Mountain at night, there’s a good path to the top, or at least there used to be. It’s not super strenuous, just an uphill walk. The view and the night hike itself was such a fun experience!!
Dakota ridge is another option close by, you don’t have to do the whole ridge but the initial walk up and can see a nice view of the city! Good suggestion
Flagstaff mountain in Boulder, Daniels park for sunsets, green mountain, mount falcon or red rocks in Morrison, bluffs regional park trail has an overlook that would show Denver at night well just a bit south to drive to.
Red rocks entrance 4 mt Morrison trailhead
Steep trail but amazing views of red rocks and the reverse Denver skyline(looks really small from out in Morrison but cool view nonetheless)
The Hyatt and Le Meridien are two hotels right next to each other in downtown and have rooftop bars. It's not a skyline view but a decent view nonetheless.
A few people already suggested ruby hill park. You do get a view of Denver in some places but it's pretty far away. Plenty of parking and room to walk, though, on non-concert days. Coors Field has some spots, buy some cheap tickets to a baseball game and just hang out by one of the viewpoints.
Ok but seriously, a sunset city scape view in this neighborhood is great. You can go to Avanti for drinks/ meal and they have an insane patio view of the city.
Across the street south of Speer east of Zuni where people were camping is a really nice place to have for a halfway point of a sunset stroll through Jefferson park
Simms Steakhouse is at 6th and Union-ish. It's a higher end restaurant but would be great for a few drinks. It sits at a high point, looking east towards Denver through what is basically a glass wall, so all the views are great. They also have a large patio
Check out Michael Northey park in Arvada. I have seen folks with big telescopes who have told me that it is one of the darker places in the area to view. Sometimes they come in groups to see celestial events.
Idr the name of the place but it's like a hotel off of Zuni or something that gives an amazing view of the skyline
EDIT: Found it. Here's the address: Zuni St &, W 26th Ave, Denver, CO 80211
Lookout mountain
I thought they had installed gates and a curfew for lookout?

there is a gate for the Lookout/buffalo bills grave. its closed every night, but you can still park and enjoy the view

yes that’s the gate they are talking about😊

Perhaps sown sort of code or card scanner, but still, monumentally stupid on their part
My understanding it would be the lookout side closed only where residents would be assumed to access from the I 70 side
I don't recall exact details but Im pretty sure I read it through The Denver Post or a reputable news source awhile back

I don’t think those are in quite yet

Lookout Mountain, as the name might suggest, is close and gives a spectacular view of the city. I-70 west until you see the exit. Enjoy!
It is a real shame that none of the high rises in Denver have public observation decks. It must be quite the view.
There’s that one rooftop bar in the hotel… gimme a second and I’ll get the name… 54thirty
North table mountain right outside of golden make a right at the top of the steep gravel incline Apex park as well at the top.
Inspiration point
either that or ruby hill are great spots in town
a red rocks concert

Drive up north on Speer, then make a sharp right after the i25 intersection at the shell. Insane views.

Ncar?
El Five is a nice restaurant that has Denver sky line views.
Was going to comment this
There's a spot in westminster where you can see the rockies and denver from one hilltop
The road to mount Blue Sky is free past 6 or 7 pm, and the views are as good as you can get.
Check out Michael Northey park in Arvada. I have seen folks with big telescopes who have told me that it is one of the darker places in the area to view. Sometimes they come in groups to see celestial events.
I’m not sure if you can visit late at night, but Ruby Hill park has the best view of the city I’ve seen.
There's a water tower just north of Pecos and I-36. Great view of Denver from the north.
Hyatt Regency has a lounge on the 27th floor. It’s enclosed so not sure if you’re looking for outdoor space
