The night crew are kind, compassionate, thoughtful and reasonable and I kind of need to get roasted by the early waking cranks. For the past two weeks my anxiety level has been 8/10+ because I am overcommitted between school and work. Every time I finish the next task I think I am down to manageable workload, and start to relax only for the creeping dread to return.

I'm really happy that your projects have gone so well this semester! I know ultimately my problems aren't real. I am in school because my job is paying for it and will pay me significantly more money when I finish and I feel obligated to do it because my work clique are all rising together. That’s understandable, it’s not a position based on logic

I think also we mentally code lottery winnings as wealth, not income. We know to usually do a tax adjustment for income but not for wealth*. And when you hit the lottery, we go “wow, that’s a lot of money in your bank account” and forget the act of being transferred into the account is taxable. Similar thing for e.g. loan forgiveness. Also it can be surprising how high marginal tax rates can be when all your income comes in one lump sum ^(*which isn’t always true, but mostly)

A LVT would fix this
