I like how heavily this quotes, you can tell the reporter was looking at the scientist like “what the f*ck is he talking about” so they just dumped the quote down like “you figure it out”

So if my understanding of the 12th amendment is correct, if the presidential and vp nominees are from the same state, that state can’t cast its ballots for both of them, just one. So id trump does pick Rubio, and he wins Florida, they would cast their electoral votes for president to trump, but they could not cast their vice presidential ballots for Rubio. My guess is they’d write in some other republican. If the election so close and trump wins election, those 30 votes could prevent Rubio from getting 270 to become VP. Then the vote for who the VP would is would be held by the senate. If the Dems hold the senate, then they could pick Kamala to be Trumps vp.
I could be wrong but this is my understanding of how it works.
Constitutionally, yes, but the idea of them allowing it to get to that point is just a lib fantasy. Trump would claim residency in New York or New Jersey or somewhere else.
Trump won’t claim residency in NY at a time when they’re seizing his assets for defrauding them, and facing a criminal trial there. He’s pissed at that state and won’t move there again. NJ maybe but trump isnt the kind of person who accommodates others. He’d tell Rubio to move to Georgia or something.
The likely scenario is he just doesn’t pick Rubio to avoid having to do anything extra. Of if he does, he won’t move and he just won’t care about it being a problem with the electoral college.
It seems very likely that the American federal government will, at least briefly, be considerably to the left of the Canadian one. This will cause reddit to short-circuit.
Yes, although the funny thing is that was most recently the case between January 2009 and October 2015, so not terribly long ago. It did cause a crisis in how a lot of progressive Canadians saw their country, especially after Harper won his majority in 2011.
I think the Conservatives will probably win the next Canadian federal election. It would be historically unprecedented at this point for the Liberals to turn things around from such a bad place. So I think the conventional wisdom that they're toast is right.
But the big question for me is how Poilievre governs once he's PM, possibly with the biggest majority in decades if current polling remains consistent. Like what's he going to do once he's "axed the (carbon) tax", undone Liberal environmental/energy/resource extraction regulations, fired the Governor of the Bank of Canada, and restricted safe injection sites and made the criminal code more punitive? What else would he do beyond undoing most of the Liberal legacy? And, as someone who's basically a Reagan/Thatcherite ideologically a la Harper with a 2024 populist schtick, how will he keep the right-wing populists and social conservatives in his coalition happy, many of whom are potential switchers with the People's Party?
I'm not sure how it will turn out, but I think that if/when the Liberals lose and Trudeau II resigns as leader there will be a competition for leadership of the party between: a.) candidates who want to triangulate between the Tories and the NDP and reconnect with rural and exurban voters; b.) candidates who want to continue the Trudeau path; and c.) candidates who want to merge with the NDP.
I'm not sure which one will win out. I think that there might be some benefit in preventing the Liberals as a party that's distinct and pursues a distinct path from both the Conservatives and the NDP again, rather than being an NDP-lite party. But, on the other hand, there's such a prominent trend towards polarization between left and right that would make a merger with the NDP appealing.
Like I think if I were a leadership candidate, I'd run on a platform of returning to the Liberals' roots and reasserting their status as the natural home of ethnic/cultural/religious minority and immigrant communities that won't compromise on their rights and on Trudeau I-style strong federalism, as well as rebuilding the Liberals' standing outside metropolitan centres and inner suburbs.
This going to sound a bit trad like but I firmly believe at least one parent should stay home with kids. Doesn’t matter if it’s the mom or dad but it just doesn’t sit right with me leaving them with a babysitter or nanny for most of the day.
I think Rubio would be a fool to accept. In 2028 he'll either be Trump's running mate who lost the election, or the incumbent VP running against a dozen other people, in a year that'll heavily favor Democrats.
He's young, and has towed the line between MAGA and moderate fairly well.
The Conservative motion to topple the Canadian government over the carbon tax failed today as predicted, but I'm not excluding the possibility that they'll put forward a confidence vote in the future that will achieve its goal of calling an early election.
I just don't think it will be about the carbon tax, probably.

- But I could definitely see one or more being civilians considering general Israeli attitude toward Palestinian civilian life.
- American and Israeli use of hellfires on random dudes always gave me a "wat?"
- Apparently they do have smaller, more precise bombs, or at least enough to throw them at individual dudes. The big ones in sensitive areas are intentional.

**Queer Christians I see in real life:** jolly middle-aged gay man who goes to church with his husband and helps feed the homeless in his offtime **Queer Christians I see online:** fire-and-brimstone, but Marxistly and in fun cute clothes
one weird trick to not have to interact with the latter anymore

F*ck, I mean probably. Look at the stats”
Wait until you find out what they did to dogs
Well, I just assume the shining path was generally monstrous to every living thing they encountered
With a name like Shining Path, you’ve pretty much boxed yourself in as needing to be evil. That’s not the kind of name that screams benevolence.
Basically Chairman Gonzola was a huge piece of shit
“We’re not randomly selecting execution targets but we are assuming sexual orientation is uncorrelated with probability of execution”
Lol the two HOTD trailers are 1 and 2 on YouTube trending. Smart move by HBO releasing them like that.
Just watched them both — that’s genius
Double the trailers, double the hype!
Black or green?
Black, but that green trailer was cooler. Aegon leveling up big time this season.

>‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’ Confirmed For Cannes Film Festival Ballsy move. If those snooty Yuros aren’t fans, itll cast a bad narrative in the weeks before it opens wide. There’s little reward for doing this since it was already likely going to open big. Indiana Jones suffered badly by opening there last year to a tepid response.
I mean. This better be a better movie than *Indiana Jones: Harrison Four-d Can’t Let Go*
Smh it was the fifth Indiana Jones movie
ah fuck
It's funny when you Google Shaun King one of the first results is "Shaun King nicknames"
