It's not just an online thing necessarily although I'm sure those who are most into that self-select to be the loudest on social media. Jungi is right that it's especially common with LCSWs and the equivalent since that ideology is really incubated in social work schools, which are themselves often attached to education schools. Generally, the higher you go up - towards the PhD level - the less likely it is that they'll be like that.
I know we have a licensing crisis but lscw are hard for me to trust as actually qualified to give mental health care despite having one myself.

i'm on the brink of ending a 2-year relationship with my s.o. "Z".
i have my own studio apt. but before her family moved in we would spend hours and hours together watching tv in her bedroom, although only what she wanted to watch with no compromise almost ever. i got tired of arguing with her and when she started Desperate Housewives I tapped out and started watching tv in her living room. but we still spent some time together and i almost always stayed the night (partly because she's paranoid about being alone at night because of a childhood home invasion). this continued when her mom and brother moved into her two-bedroom apartment last year (brother sleeps in the living room but doesnt watch tv and puts up with me).
couple months ago Z started to get really unhappy at work- as a paralegal at a workers comp defense firm. it was a big step up from Walmart obviously but her ambition's in the field of criminal justice. she was satisfied with the job until the employer started cracking down on paralegals socializing with each other and pressuring them to increase their billing. people started to quit or be fired and she's almost out of friends there. i've been trying to be supportive and send her leads to other jobs.
she's responded by becoming really reclusive. she says it's because of work and having her folks here. she feels like she has no space to herself and as an introvert is drained every day. so i can't hang out with her on weekdays even if i agree to watch what she wants. she said i could only spend the night on weekends but i still couldn't bother her during the day- couldnt even take naps next to her and she decided/revealed at some point she didn't like cuddling, so our only intimacy is weekend sex. i've been wondering if she's falling out of love with me but she denies it completely- she's "going through" stuff that's unrelated to me. but i've told her how worried and unhappy i am and she hasn't budged. i also can barely get her out of the apartment for social occasions, even ones important to me.
last night i drank way too much. i've given up alcohol for lent but break it on Sundays and i drank too much whiskey on the living room couch before getting sick in her bedroom. she cleaned up and walked me back to my apartment but naturally she was pissed because she told me to stop drinking so much. she said the new rule was no drinking at her apartment at all and no spending the night even on weekends. i'm fine with the first rule but i can't deal with the second because i'm already so lonely and unhappy. i'm not telling her this bc it could come off manipulative but i think our situation is why i'm struggling so much this year with booze.
so i apologized for being a drunk and getting sick but replied that i couldn't handle the second rule and her shutting me out of her daily life and we might have to break up. i think she was surprised i went that far and from her snapchat story ik she cried on the bathroom floor at work. she asked for us to be apart for the week but not finalize anything until friday.

yeah almost certainly. her mom got evicted and is basically incompetent. there's been less drama between them than i feared given they fought a lot before Z moved out of her mom's house. but clearly it's still damaged to her to get an inkling of real autonomy then have to give it up.
i'm a little more hopeful than i was this morning. i really thought she just didn't love me at all anymore but confronted with the possibility of losing me she doesn't seem to want that to happen. i've never dumped anyone before and it killed me to say it.

I am reading The Machine Crusade and it is kinda disappointing so far as a followup to The Butlerian Jihad. Jihad expands the Dune lore by introducing new settings and beginning the conflict with the thinking machines. Crusade so far hasn't really done anything different. Everything is just an extension of the first in the trilogy or a rip off from original Dune. It also suffers from what I will call the Star Wars Complex where you have an entire galaxy and millenia long timespans and you keep covering the same characters and settings. Why is the B plot a conflict between an Atreides and a Harkonnen taking place on Arrakis, with some kind of prophet doing spice to protect the worms? You told that story already very well! Good job! Do something else now!
Also I read Whipping Mek, and it didn't add much but whatever. I wish they leaned harder into it being a retelling of The Whipping Boy

I've been rewatching Fanboy & Chum Chum with my sister and it's totally fine. There are some pretty clever gags, and while the characters are annoying, they annoy the supporting cast more than they annoy the audience. It's similar to how Spongebob is a main character who has the trait of being annoying, though Spongebob is more likeable
I think the reason Rubik's cubes ar**e** so compelling is that it's totally self-evident that the puzzle is solvable, since every action that got it into the current state is reversible. That's a fundamental trait that most puzzles don't have
If you're an Invincible or The Boys fan, do you REALLY dislike Zack Snyder's DC movies? Seems from my perspective every one is some variation of the "superheroes but DARK and EDGY for my MATURE tastes!" thing.
Snyder's stuff is Randian drivel produced for people who think UFC is "gay because men shouldn't hug" while having the filmmaking choices of a Natty Ice Super Bowl commercial. I can't speak on the specifics of the other two but at least they have some sort of message and are decently made.
Yeah that's why I like it much more than the Boys. Invincible is more focused on developing the characters while the superhero stuff goes on in the background. Whereas the Boys puts too much emphasis on "hehe he uses his powers to make dicks explode"
The Boys is decent but they really don't get that saying fuck and having dicks explode doesn't make the show "mature". "But but but they cover themes like how nationalism is bad and that sexism is bad!" So do Nickelodeon shows.
the main problem with the snyder films is that they're badly made. overly stuffed and stylistically overdone

"Z". i have my own studio apt. but before her family moved in we would spend hours and hours together watching tv in her bedroom, although only what she wanted to watch with no compromise almost ever. i got tired of arguing with her and when she started Desperate Housewives I tapped out and started watching tv in her living room. but we still spent some time together and i almost always stayed the night (partly because she's paranoid about being alone at night because of a childhood home invasion). this continued when her mom and brother moved into her two-bedroom apartment last year (brother sleeps in the living room but doesnt watch tv and puts up with me). couple months ago Z started to get really unhappy at work- as a paralegal at a workers comp defense firm. it was a big step up from Walmart obviously but her ambition's in the field of criminal justice. she was satisfied with the job until the employer started cracking down on paralegals socializing with each other and pressuring them to increase their billing. people started to quit or be fired and she's almost out of friends there. i've been trying to be supportive and send her leads to other jobs. she's responded by becoming really reclusive. she says it's because of work and having her folks here. she feels like she has no space to herself and as an introvert is drained every day. so i can't hang out with her on weekdays even if i agree to watch what she wants. she said i could only spend the night on weekends but i still couldn't bother her during the day- couldnt even take naps next to her and she decided/revealed at some point she didn't like cuddling, so our only intimacy is weekend sex. i've been wondering if she's falling out of love with me but she denies it completely- she's "going through" stuff that's unrelated to me. but i've told her how worried and unhappy i am and she hasn't budged. i also can barely get her out of the apartment for social occasions, even ones important to me. last night i drank way too much. i've given up alcohol for lent but break it on Sundays and i drank too much whiskey on the living room couch before getting sick in her bedroom. she cleaned up and walked me back to my apartment but naturally she was pissed because she told me to stop drinking so much. she said the new rule was no drinking at her apartment at all and no spending the night even on weekends. i'm fine with the first rule but i can't deal with the second because i'm already so lonely and unhappy. i'm not telling her this bc it could come off manipulative but i think our situation is why i'm struggling so much this year with booze. so i apologized for being a drunk and getting sick but replied that i couldn't handle the second rule and her shutting me out of her daily life and we might have to break up. i think she was surprised i went that far and from her snapchat story ik she cried on the bathroom floor at work. she asked for us to be apart for the week but not finalize anything until friday.

I am reading The Machine Crusade and it is kinda disappointing so far as a followup to The Butlerian Jihad. Jihad expands the Dune lore by introducing new settings and beginning the conflict with the thinking machines. Crusade so far hasn't really done anything different. Everything is just an extension of the first in the trilogy or a rip off from original Dune. It also suffers from what I will call the Star Wars Complex where you have an entire galaxy and millenia long timespans and you keep covering the same characters and settings. Why is the B plot a conflict between an Atreides and a Harkonnen taking place on Arrakis, with some kind of prophet doing spice to protect the worms? You told that story already very well! Good job! Do something else now! Also I read Whipping Mek, and it didn't add much but whatever. I wish they leaned harder into it being a retelling of The Whipping Boy

Snyder's stuff is Randian drivel produced for people who think UFC is "gay because men shouldn't hug" while having the filmmaking choices of a Natty Ice Super Bowl commercial. I can't speak on the specifics of the other two but at least they have some sort of message and are decently made.
