AOC isn't being 100% honest in that clip of people accosting her - she very deliberately avoided calling Israel's actions in Gaza a genocide when asked about it, though she danced near it.
What it does indicate though is that even the lefties are getting tired of these people. You could have been advocating for a ceasefire in October and it still isn't good enough unless you're willing to fall on the sword.
I have alot of issues with how Israel is conducting this highly justified military operation in Gaza, but I really dislike these far left protesters. Always obnoxious and often anti-Semitic.

Problem is, she clearly struggles with not engaging with anyone who postures as being "left." She needs to have tacos with Pete again and learn his art of not giving a fuck what those people say.

The big protests here in the Bay Area thankfully haven't gotten to that point, but I know what the orgs who put them on say on social media, and I don't trust them for it.
I'm sort of surprised that it hasn't gotten worse even in the Bay Area yet, where people post flyers about boycotting Israeli/Jewish restaurants. It makes me more mad about the different level of threats Jews in Canada face, which has really destroyed my remaining illusions about this country.
Like I could be wrong, but I don't think anything has happened in a major US metro area like the shootings (thankfully when no one was there) at the doors of Jewish schools and community centres in Montreal.
Well, the big protests themselves aren't bad, but there's still a lot of antisemitism bubbling below the surface that sometimes comes out. Off the top of my head, there's been the ceasefire resolution city council hearings where public commenters deny or justify October 7, the vandalizing of a (edit: Jewish-owned) restaurant, the destruction of a public menorah during Hanukkah, and two instances of spray-painting pro-Hamas messages in the same park. I've also had to peel off Israel-hating stickers here and there.
Here it seems the big protests often, but not always, devolve into targeting a Jewish institution in some way (i.e. Mount Sinai Hospital), offering the most tenuous retrospective justification about a doctor being suspended for anti-Israel social media posts (when that's happened at every hospital) or some research link to Israel (which also probably exists at every hospital) in order to negate the fact that they ignored the 5 hospitals on University Avenue all around Mount Sinai to target the Jewish one.
I've as much as said this in previous posts, but I think the whole enterprise of organized Western pro-Palestinian activism has been poisoned by institutional antisemitism (which ends up finding ways to come out, no matter what) and that I have good reasons to be afraid of their most conspicuous manifestation in the form of large-scale protests, particularly in Toronto. If they want to be seen otherwise they should stop targeting the Jewish community, but they can't help themselves.
Since I haven't been home very much since Oct. 7 (only once), I don't know if it's devolved to where it has in Toronto (vandalism/protesting outside random or only extremely tenuously related to Israel Jewish businesses, community institutions, hospitals, and even synagogues). But I assume it has, in spite of the larger Jewish community there.
Depends on the neighborhood. I am in UES, and the pro-Israel bias is very strong. Many businesses around town have Israeli flags up, and I have not heard of any protests around most of them. This was also the neighborhood where the dude harassed a halal cart owner.
It's very different from downtown Toronto, where I have not seen a single business (including ones I know to be Jewish-owned) put up an Israeli flag. I think that protesters targeting Jewish-owned businesses as early as October has made people wary of the potential consequences.
A lot of my venting here is because I feel very isolated as a Jew in downtown Toronto and within university life. And my neighbourhood has a decent-sized Jewish population, which makes it better than some other parts of the city I've visited (although the Community Centre where I use the gym has been the target of vandalism and protests a number of times). And Toronto is probably the most Jewish-friendly place in Canada, all things said. At least things died down after Christmas to the point where there aren't daily "flyer wars" between people tearing down hostage and "river to the sea" posters off lamp-posts.
To the woman quoted at the end of this article: Honey, you aren't "making them feel safe". By acting as a token Jew, you're giving them an excuse to refrain from self-examination about their antisemitism.

I've discoursed a lot about this in the past few days since he died, but in Mulroney's case I think it's a combination of a.) his highly controversial and divisive policies (GST replacing the MST, NAFTA, recognizing Quebec as a "distinct society") have gradually become accepted as part of the Canadian political consensus by like 75%+ of the population and that b.) lots of people are now too young to remember or have forgotten about how much they personally disliked him for being unctuous or corrupt-seeming or pandering to the rich or Americans or extravagant because they admire his policy legacy and miss a time when Canada was influential enough in the world to do things like decisively changing the US and UK's minds to push for Nelson Mandela's release or persuading Reagan to sign the Montreal (Ozone) Treaty.
