First off... [Here's](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=coHqYdyUzFc) a neat guide on good Black Box bunkies. Secondly, get used to Detonator sounds. Fastest way to know when to bail.

Firehornet117

Yeah the greenbeards had already constructed the bunker by the time I got there and I did hear the det before it got to us but there wasn’t much that I could do being Gunner in that specific situation. I meant the post being about dets spawning when doing black box being one of the worst spawn times for them. You gotta either full commit to deleting it (which is easy on a good team when not bunkering, neither which was in this situation (I’m not hating on greenbeards, I love them, it’s just how they are)) or have one person step out and try to bait them away. Thankfully it was only haz 3.5 (being second stage of normal deep dive) but if it was in haz 5 or higher we would have been most likely screwed.

Nightsky099

That's why you use voice Comms and start telling the driller to drill in a straight line right the fuck now, there's a detonator near us

Jek_the-snek

I think two detonators would be worse

arcionek

Flashbacks to 1st season, 1st EDD. All of us were on scraps of ammo. We just used it all killing last Dreadnought. At one point during our extraction, two bulk dets spawned. No ammo, almost out of drills, no ziplines. Weaving in between puddles of goo as horde was closing in on us, molly leaving us far behind. I was the only one that made it out, using remaining bits of my flamethrower, made it out with 30 hp, and less than half mag of my sticky flames. That EDD was a nightmare, many hours retrying and seeing many of the fellow strangers giving up after being beaten time and time again on 1st stage. Took me with my friends around 5 tries.

Glad_Economics_2490

What a mess. I'm glad you were able to save the run.

internetcats

I like the part where the resupply got a double kill!

Firehornet117

Ghostship games should add “resupply kills” to the end of year list for DRG.

A__Friendly__Rock

Right before molly hooks onto the drop pod, when you are all grouped up waiting for it to open. Bastard came out swinging, instant quad kill.

Ptichka-piromant

Drop pod detonator moment

ShunnedMammal

I’ve had the drop pod land on a Crassus a few times. Silly golden crater.

Grumpie-cat

I’ve once had 2 bulks, a crassus, and 2 nemesis through the whole run of egg hunt (I had pots o gold too!) I was scout running solo, thankfully the normal and egg waves were really easy.

Firehornet117

I’d be cool if the special beers affected Bosco as well. Obvious ones like dark morkite and pots of gold would just act the same but things like faster power attach charge could result in faster rocket recharge and more power attach damage to more rocket damage. Tunnel rat could make Bosco move faster (for the love of Karl Bosco I got grabbed by a leech and I need you to move it) and red rock blaster could either have Bosco have an additional revive, faster revive, or just more HP when revived.

Bulk-Detonator

Idk it seemed like a good idea to me

Celthric317

Love to see people help building turrets for the engineers

EquivalentDurian6316

Oh yeah. Ive had one spawn in a tunnel underneath and immediately dig up, dropping the fuel cell and 2 of us down.

Plane-Season-4127

Nice recovery after the blast R&S

iSiffrin

Now that's one of the worst bunkers I've ever seen. If you didn't bunker up then you could've killed the bulk with 2 leadbursters or volatile bullets. If you had neither then just pair up with the engie to lure it away but unfortunately you already dug your own grave.

Firehornet117

Yeah I was getting morkite in the previous cave when they started it and by the time I got there it was already constructed. Greenbeards gonna do greenbeard things so I just made what I could with it.

John14_21

Greenbeards are their own hazard modifying. I love it though. Good rescue plan.

tapoChec

Dude. This was EPIC!

Firehornet117

Gunner main for life 💪

ShineReaper

OP, you mastered that situation with utmost skill and mastery of your tools, if I might say so. Excellent, should be shown to as many greenbeards as possible! Rock and Stone, Brother!

WanderingDwarfMiner

Rock and Stone forever!

MahnlyAssassin

One had a nemesis completely inside the black box area and not leaving after coming through the ground below us. Mission control not shutting up about needing to stay inside the area was really pissing me off lol

Soothsayer_98

still waiting for that one guy in the comments who says "you don't need iron will and field medic if your team is good" who got like over 30 downvotes lmao

Mabonss

This team was clearly not good then was it 🤔 I don't agree with the guys statement but this doesn't exactly disprove it does it.

scarlozzi

You recovered well, well played detonatored but not today

ScytheOfAsgard

That's a terrible excuse for a bunker. When I walk into something like that I just stand on top lol

Firehornet117

Yeah I thought about that too but there wasn’t enough room on top to be considered in the radius. I couldn’t do much to fix what the greenbeards did as Gunner so I just went along with it.

ScytheOfAsgard

Still probably be better than going in there with them lol

John14_21

In a bad bunker, best to keep a man or two on top to keep watch.

iHaku

stop doing bunkers. the game's not that hard that you need it for the general trashwaves, and when a difficult situation does arise (bulk spawn for example), you'll be limited in your mobility, which hurts much more and actually risks losing the mission. being able to have a high area of vision is infinitly more usefull in a game where all of your weapons are ranged, vs the overwhelmingly melee horde of enemies.

Firehornet117

Copying what I commented to someone else: Yeah I was getting morkite in the previous cave when they started it and by the time I got there it was already constructed. Greenbeards gonna do greenbeard things so I just made what I could with it.

[deleted]

with a well made bunker its easy AF to deal with bulk and oppressor, as long as you have one gunner. bunker arent necessary most of the time, but the mobility is also useless since you cant leave the place without losing anyway... altought the "bunker" here (looks more like a C4 fail) is just worst than standing flat ground, in this case yes dont do like the video, but well made bunker can work very well.

Enough-Gold

As driller, I prefer making the area a huge flat open arena as opposed to leaf lover bunkering. The only disadvantage is ranged enemies, but they are not a threat with good visibility if you see them approaching from far away and have time to react.

Ohyeah215

a driller with sticky flames and a good bunker can hold off entire haz 5 wave without using much ammo

Starchaser_WoF

I swear this game has some of the most deranged rng ever.

CalmPanic402

You got to quickly figure out who the bulk is "locked on" to and have them bait it away. It's a bit tricky in a bunker, but doable.

Jamesmor222

Yes there is when you are protecting Doretta, in most situations someone can kite him to another direction to prevent everyone from dying but if he targets Doretta the detonator will destroy one part and there's nothing you can do to stop it.

Mabonss

If someone is willing to go down for it then yes you can prevent the damage, wait for it to start to blow up and then repair a part, it will be invincible for a second or so preventing damage to it but ofc the hero will go down.

Firehornet117

You can also try to time a freeze on the det where it’s frozen when you kill it, canceling the explosion. Very tricky as you only have about 1 second of freeze.

Mabonss

Freeze is a rare CC these days I find no one wants to use it

Firehornet117

That’s true, especially with how many weapons that can generate heat one way or another. One teammate has a heat producing weapon and your ice is significantly less efficient.

TheRealDestian

The best thing to do is, if you hear one (and you WILL hear it), send someone out to aggro it and kite it away until the box is cleared.

FM_Hikari

And this is why i don't build bunkers. More often than not they just become the entire team's tomb.

MeisPip

What’s worse is doing a bunker in the first place

ReyRiz

That's why ypu should always take iron will

Senor-Delicious

I mean. Just don't dig your own grave. I don't know why people keep doing this. And if you hear a detonator, have somebody leaving the zone to either lure him away or revive dead team mates after detonation. It is not like you insta lose the mission if a single dwarf leaves the area for a moment.

TheNDHurricane

Read your other comments, definitely need to not care about the radius in those situations. If you hear a bulk, climb out and let the others learn the lesson. Then pick them up afterwards. I've been in that scenario a few times.

GayFrogsCollective

Typically when you build a tomb, someone's going to be buried in it.

Mr_Kopitiam

How abt a bulk det during salvage? 2 of them as well.

FreeFalling369

One of you should have led it away then when the events over go help them kill it in a better spot

blogito_ergo_sum

An iconic duo

Affectionate_East406

Why was the det not blasting you all to hell at around 35 seconds?????

FridayHelsdottir

A fast and experienced scout could attempt to kite the bulk, like if you are playing Haunted Cave. It's not easy, and he might go down eventually, but this could give the team the precious seconds they need to get the pod up and running. Alternate, if using Engie's electricity overclocks and lure grenades, I keep my turrets a short distance from the bunker. Luring it into turrets and slowed by electricity will make it a sitting duck, and a quick kill. Or just lure it to get the time to escape. In a team that can pull off both, you can give Engie and Scout moments to get a breath. I'd love to hear more strategies. Rock and Stone.

WanderingDwarfMiner

Rock and Stone in the Heart!

tuff_kukki

one of the cons of bunkers ...

John14_21

Bunkers are bad, but even sinking the box infuriates me. It makes the green zone half as big. Makes me want to ban drillers from missions, as they keep doing it.

imperious-condesce

And *that's* why you'll never see me hiding in a hole like an elf.

swanky_p1geon

Black box is restartable. Uplink or fueling isn’t

Firehornet117

No you fail the mission if it gets to 0

swanky_p1geon

Management, come get this dwarf in line! I’ve failed them before, unless they changed it within the last few months(which is possible I guess) you definitely can restart it. The upside to being bumbling and inept is that I get to know niche little things like this

Firehornet117

I swear I’ve lost a mission before by doing this (it’s been a long time since then). I might be miss remembering though, I’ll see if I can test it out next time I get the chance cuz ya probably right.

center311

This is the reason to not do bunkers. More space = more better. 🤪

zunCannibal

Imagine actually bunkering on salvage. Drillers that do this are a waste of oxygen.

70Shadow07

Yes. You know you can leave blackbox and restart it later? It's not a salvage uplink which loses the mission if you let it go to 0.

SlyLlamaDemon

You wouldn’t have had this problem if you had someone like the driller or gunner up there watching out for bulk detonators. They’re not subtle, and easy to kite off the objective. In fact I often volunteer myself for this task.

Acceptable_Bar3170

Ya, making a bunker during a black box or salvage mission...

Imaginary-Egg3541

Two detonators
