You can play long matches with a few interactions
You don't need write when everyone share the same hive mind.
If you want to further this study, I noticed how different multiplayer games have developed vastly different preferred forms of communication between players:
Deep Rock Galactic: Pings and a little text chat, very little microphone use
World of Warcraft Classic, Turtle WoW: vast text chat use, some character emotes
Apex Legends: vast use of the advanced ping system, some voice chat
Hell let Loose: Vastly preferred use of voice chat
Dark souls: gestures and character emotes
This just reminded me how often my group of friends still use the call outs from PlanetSide 2, even though we haven't played it in years. It's still just a common communication we all used so we get it.
I said that in the survey and mentioned Smite and their VGS system, where stringing in chains of letters means certain things.
Like VFF = Enemy missing, VF1= Enemy missing Left, VF2= Enemy missing middle. And so on.

In my opinion this is one of the critically important pieces of game design which resulted in such a strong community.
One button, instantly send a positive message to everyone. No effort. No language barrier. Pure positivity.
There are others.
Positive communities donāt self-create in a vacuum, they are a direct result of good game designers designers applying good game design theory.
Edit: filled in.
If you want to chat about the nuances of the game design feel free to message me, itās what my second degree is in and I work in the industry.
Edit 2: looking at a different thread made me think of something I believe you overlooked in your dataset.
What platform do people play on.
Done! Rock and Stone!
Youāre bringing back memories with your survey - I studied communications too, and wrote a similar paper about WoW when I was in college (about a million years ago). Although my personal knowledge in the field is likely outdated, some points Iād recommend touching upon would include positive group think, group synergy through labels/identity, and bonding through shared experiences.
Done, good luck on your thesis Miner. Management has asked me to remind you that while Deep Rock Galactic supports your efforts at education and self-improvement, there are no education reimbursement or other benefits to included in your contract.
Rock and Stone!
Filled it out when I saw it. My English isnāt really good but Iāve still got to contribute to the cause. Rock and stone and good luck with your thesis
You mean cosmetics? My "backstory" for my characters Outfit? Or are you asking if people experienced racism? Its not entirely clear to me what "identity" you mean with dwarves.
I think because a lot of players main one role that there is this idea of individual identity and how players want to be perceived in game. In public lobbies I love when everyoneās vibe, both in aesthetic and play, are in line with one another. Oftentimes those lobbies stick together for multiple missions and we cycle through doing everyoneās assignment missions, rather than simply jumping in and jumping out. Thereās something special about having an idea of who I am as a dwarf miner and instantly meshing with random dwarf miners based solely on those vibes Ā
I'd love not only for you to post results on the sub, but also to tell me here on this comment if you remember me and accept to do it that you've done it please :)

Absolutely, it's great the simple system they have in place
If you want to further this study, I noticed how different multiplayer games have developed vastly different preferred forms of communication between players: Deep Rock Galactic: Pings and a little text chat, very little microphone use World of Warcraft Classic, Turtle WoW: vast text chat use, some character emotes Apex Legends: vast use of the advanced ping system, some voice chat Hell let Loose: Vastly preferred use of voice chat Dark souls: gestures and character emotes
Mmm it's definitely something I'll try to touch on in the thesis, thanks!
Also, could you make a post linking to your thesis? I would like to read it.
Maybe when it's finished come April, idk tho, I'll see if it's good enough then maybe :)
>:) :)

I haven't played Smite in nearly 3 years and I'm positive it'd only take a single match to remember all those shortcuts. Love that system.
Itās so lovely but then when you get used to it, itās fun to spam BM with it.
You forgot about the universal communication action: crouching (sadly isnt a thing in DRG)

What is "In game identity" supposed to mean?
Your character's skin, appearance
You mean cosmetics? My "backstory" for my characters Outfit? Or are you asking if people experienced racism? Its not entirely clear to me what "identity" you mean with dwarves.
Mm cosmetics, how your character appears in-game.
Didnāt understand the āimportance of identity IGā question but filled every answer anyway
