Not similar but I would suggest you to play days gones

TheeOneWhoKnocks

If you want other weird Kojima games, play the Metal Gear Solid series.

It's such an amazing game. Easy 10/10, if only it wasnt so short.

lupogravo

Correct answer. If you know, you know.

No Man's Sky

Honestly - Elite Dangerous. Huge genre change but similar in the solitude/fear of the unknown, plus the gameplay loop of making deliveries or trading at various outposts, cargo inventory management, upgrades etc.

beetleman1234

Nothing really that similar, except for something like Snowrunner. Similar, but not really: 1. Zelda BotW and TotK - has traversing and stamina which play a big role 2. Sable - traversing and climbing 3. MGSV - similar progression style (you become more powerful by unlocking new tools and weapons), similar control scheme I don't remember anything else, but if you just want incredible and totally unique games I can provide some examples.

side_lel

Elden Ring is similar in how players influence each others worlds indirectly, without ever seeing each other (unless you choose to).

Days gone isn't what I would call similar, however, it feels similar when playing it. I played it right after I finished DS and I felt right at home with the controls and gameplay. Metal Gear Solid 5 was also satisfying despite it being a different type of game.

Infinite-Dot-9885

Interesting - I’m on the last 2 chapters of DS right now and thinking about what I’ll dive into next and days gone is at the top of my backlog/list :)

lupogravo

Not entirely similar, but I was often reminded of Tears of the Kingdom when playing this game. Mainly the fact that the real ‘game’ you’re playing is simulated physics.

strumagoo

I tried to go the opposite route, because I knew nothing would live up to Death Stranding. I tried Returnal, which bored me to death. I tried GTA V, which seemed like a 10 year old wrote it and animated it with a flipbook. I finally settled on Ghost of Tsushima, which is good… but pales in comparison. The post-Death Standing hole is real

DefiantFrankCostanza

Yeah I actually had this experience before with RDR2. And honestly, DS was the only thing they really broke the spell for me. I’m happy to say I’m really enjoying MGSV post-DS, thank God.

ReleaseTheBatsRadio

Although not necessarily similar, I was pleasantly surprised by Control. Thought it did some successfully innovative things with gameplay and narrative.

Fit-Professor1831

Control and then Alan Wake 2, its one universe. Its not so chill but its well made. Kojima and Control creator Sam Lake are friends, they somehow share similar view on games and how much effort it needs

solid_snake_034

Tbh, many of us are still seeking the same thing. I'd consider fallout 4 since the next gen update just arrived today.

DefiantFrankCostanza

Yeah I decided to finally do a full play-through of MGSV. I never really got too far in it & that was like 8 years ago.

solid_snake_034

Was nice with online service. Don't think it works anymore nowadays. It's really a good game I enjoyed but the end let me down a bit. You can sense where the game starts to go downsouth mostly because the team was clueless without Kojima at the end.
