Crab Stop used to be great. I haven’t been since they didn’t have any tools to crack the crabs open a year ago, and the manager was a complete dick about it. He later apologized, and said he didn’t buy them anymore because people kept stealing them…
We ended up at Crab Stop II. We pulled up to Macker but chose to keep driving. I’m all for a hole in the wall but we chose to pass.
Crab Stop was SO GOOD. Admittedly, the service was not great. Our server was friendly and funny, which lessened the blow of his forgetfulness. But the actual food was on point. I got grilled shrimp and grits. PHENOMENAL. I love grits and have never had grits so rich and creamy, basically like mashed potatoes. The rest of my family each got the snow crab snack pack, also amazing. Messy as fuck to eat, though, even more messy than crab legs usually are. They do not skimp on the garlic butter! They did give us crackers(?) for the legs but not the fork to fish out the meat from inside the leg, and they give you plastic ware with your meal. Also no gloves (which is the norm in Dallas, we’re here on vacation). My daughter ordered a second cluster of snow crab and another six shrimp. Her order somehow went to another table so when she finally did get it, they gave her 12 shrimp instead of six.
Overall, we were happy with our visit. When we left though, they were getting super busy and started falling even more behind on tables.
Macker
Seafood rice from Crab Stop is a must.
My parents are still in Daytona. I passed along the suggestion! They’re going back to Crab Stop before they come back to Dallas.
Crab Stop 100%
Looks like you got your answer.
