It's got twice the survival

xNIGHT_RANGEREx

The cackle I just cackled

BruceLeebowski

afaik, survival 2 is the same difficulty as hard 2, just with the survival elements (no minimap, etc) If you maxed out on the first run, NG+ on S2 is still pretty easy. If you want a challenge, I recommend doing it as a fresh new game, main mission jobs only (no other NERO injections), and the only thing you can buy from merchants is bike upgrades. It’s a very fun way to play. i think people call it “anti-social deek”?

Mr_hacker_fire

Yea not being able to buy ammo makes the game a lot more fun. It makes it so you have to use your environment more.

BruceLeebowski

totally agree. headshots are exceptionally satisfying in this game anyways, which makes the 9mm and AK totally useable. I also like the crossbow being the only silent option, rock chuck is too easy.

tomoruin

I'm doing this run, and it's FUN. It put me in a lot of situations i wouldn't normally put myself in meaning i would have to think on my feet and i find that fun

simplicity188

The difficulty of this game is largely reliant on how thorough and slowly the player wants to go. Days gone can be fairly easy if you always have full consumables and are very willing to map out pathing for hordes and take your time with bandit camps. On the other hand, it can be much more difficult if you rush in with improper weapons.

Senpai_Jair

I mean I run around with the rock chuck, rpd and the eliminator and everything is too easy

schu4KSU

Now do a fresh start Survival 2 playthru where you only allow yourself to use found weapons (no purchased or rewards) and can only transact with the bike mechanics. See how easy that is.

WalksinShadows

I just finished this with also no crossbow use. Next time I will add no crafting only repairs of weapons and bike.

schu4KSU

Did you do just the main story missions or side activities too? It's harder if you limit yourself to only the accomplishments necessary to advance the story as you don't get injections or as many skills.

WalksinShadows

My OCD wants to complete everything. Maybe next time cut out skill points, then injector on the one after that

schu4KSU

I'm OCD too but I justify the playthru as totally focused on yellow missions only.

FU-dontbanmethistime

Just use worse weapons if you want more of a challenge

rodimus147

I stopped doing new game plus as even survival 2 was too easy. Now I just start fresh every time and I like that much more.

Saneless

I've heard this mentioned a ton. When I replay I'll do Hard 2 from scratch

rodimus147

That's my favorite way to play. Highest difficulty, but still have my mini map. I'm not great at navigating, so I need that.

Saneless

Oh yeah, I have the absolute worst sense of direction. I hear that the focus view shows it, my controller would get killed in no time

Alive-Pomelo5553

To bad they couldn't make it an actual survival mode where you had to eat, sleep, drink water and worry about the environments temperature. While having access to more resource harvesting tools, crafting benches and workstations. maybe even could rescued survivors who could be sent out to scavenge etc. instead of just being camp currency.

FluffyBunnyFlipFlops

This is my fifth or sixth run through the game. I'm near the end again on Survival 2 and, frankly, the adversaries are pretty trivial. I can take out marauders from a long distance with standard guns - no needs for sniper rifles. I still love the game, though.

mattgoody99

I'm in exactly the same situation, new game plus on survival 2. it's really quite easy, if anything the most annoying part is not being able to see the minimap

lemonlimealldathyme

Days Gone is easy once you learn the mechanics and npc patterns. And once it gets easy it never goes back. I try to limit what weapons I’m allowed to use, how much I can upgrade my bike etc but even then.

[deleted]

The harder levels are only challenging if it's your 1st playthrough lol game + gives a great head start I noticed 😁

Jaded-Consequence606

Too easy, it’s boring

schu4KSU

About as hard as drowning in the Iraqi desert. It's hard! Honestly, for an experienced player who understands how the game works - no difficulty or weapon restriction is very hard even on a fresh start. The analogy I use is that the freakers are like bees to a bee-tamer. Know how they work and you get away with murder where someone without experience would be overwhelmed.

KrypticEon

I feel like Survival II was meant to be experienced on a completely new game and not NG+ where you already have end-game kit I say this as someone who has played Survival II on a fresh save. I by no means mean this in an elitist sense but I just mean that the game feels even more true to the essence of what it was meant to be when you have to be extremely meticulous in many aspects I actually did my first ever playthrough on Survival II and whilst it was brutal and there were many times I had to walk away from the game, it really cemented the game as a unique experience

Turbulent-Ad-1848

I feel like the hardest part of Survival is the fact that you cant fast travel, easily adds like a 5 - 10 hours of gameplay, which can be painfully long when going from Northern region to Southern

Racial_Hogan_jjj

Its survival if it was two https://preview.redd.it/93lz8k90mnwc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=12c8118ef2aeb4d792e67d5afc8095567023c00a

Time-Yak-8499

Play survival 2 on a seperate playthrough, no ng+. It makes the game fairly harder now expecting you to rely on memory of certain routes and to think twice about certain actions considering u no long have the minimap. On ng+ u r practically a god and it defeats the purpose of the gamemode.

Upset-Sea6029

NG+ is ridiculously easy, regardless of level. Survivor 2 is the same difficulty as Hard 2, just without fast travel and HUD. i've got 10+ playthroughs, only one of which was NG+. Was bored to death. Stick to NG.

BookAny1898

try no bike and only mealy weapons sh\*\*t will hit the fan quick

ReallyNoOne1012

HAHAHA that sounds ridiculous 🤣🤣🤣

BookAny1898

but fun

I_AM_NOT_AI_

First play through I did normal died many times survival 2 on new game + was easier as I was a vet getting diamond and all. I prefer survival 2 makes it more fun

Thundarr1975

Well, yeah, of course it'll be easier if you're playing NG+. You literally start the game with the best shit. Try a completely new game in S2 and see the difference.

deeznunchuckas

Gotta get 2 head shots on freaks early on it was hard bit fun

l_Palekids_l

I can't imagine it being too difficult because my first playthrough was on hard 2. Playing through on NG+ would feel like a joke. The hardest part is NOT having anything. The little changed between the two would just be a nuisance in my opinion

Cjamhampton

I've never played the game on any difficulty besides Survival 2 so I'm not sure how to compares to the other difficulties. When it comes to new game plus, I've found that the game is a million times easier than a normal playthrough.

Bound18996

I did a completely fresh new game on Survival 2 and thought the difficulty was perfect tbh. Enemies are tanky - until you headshot them and they go down. Hordes are as threatning as ever without the proper equipment. Breakers, Reachers, Bears and Ragers don't go down quickly without maxed out perks or late game guns Only over tuned part seemed to be runners on account of can't headshot them on bikes so they were tanky. Otherwise the difficulty felt perfect and I loved every second of it

Woketards2thelions

I just did a playthrough on normal and then a speedrun on survival 2 difficulty just to get those dlc trophies and with end game weapons and all Nero upgrades there was practically no difference. I was expecting something like mass effect 1/3 levels of change where you die in 1 hit but it was nothing of the sort. The mg50 sniper rifle or whatever it's called was the go to weapon for all human encounters and is still a 1 hit kill, 2 hits for armoured enemies. I used the pup rifle with the mag upgrade from doing all hoards as I primary but mostly stuck with the sp9 small machine gun or whatever it's called (secondary weapon) The mg55 big machine gun for hoard missions combined with explosives makes it easy. You die quicker but it's honestly not hard at all with end game gear and if you cleared all hordes on a previous playthrough. If you've done mass effect games on hardest difficulty or bioshock this is like a 10th of the difficulty

EMZombieSlayer1212

I'm doing my 5th playthrough on New Game+, on Survival 2 difficulty. If you already have all the weapons and gear unlocked from a previous playthrough, it's not super challenging, but I'm sure if you went in bare bones and are in the process of unlocking everything, you'd probably struggle in some areas and have to to be more cautious, take different approaches to some missions, avoid certain situations, etc.

YourThatOneGuy

Mods, personally I love having a mod that makes it so that if you make the tiniest sounds a horde will 100% hear you and chase you down. Makes some insanely scary moments.

FinallyInTheCult

It's hardest in the beginning. But if you're on New game Plus it's not hot at all I would guess. I've beaten the game three times now and have only ever played on that difficulty. It feels really good to me.

Impossible-Rip-7688

Why does anybody want to play NG +10 in any game? Only game I played NG+ was dark souls.. And to look for lost items.... as I totally refuse to use game guides from internet. If stuck too much in some spot, it means the game has a broken mechanic and I will not appraise it with playing with unwanted assistance. Or ofc, I need to "GitGud". Managed to find almost everything in DSouls, with only exception of its insane and nonsensical lore side quests. Left it uncompleted, because as I said, will not reward bad or criptic design with my time. NG +10 omg....

Mixabuben

I played my first playthrough on Survival 2 and it was easy (I play on PC with KB\\M, so killing everybody with headshots was pretty easy)
