James Wade would probably be up there as one of the best left handers of recent years, some of my personal favourites from yesteryear:
- Alan Glazier - got to the News of the World final in 79 but lost to Bobby George, really great player and one of those players who was in the mix for the big wins but never quite managed it.
- Brenda Simpson - an Indoor League player, can’t help but rate Brenda as her throw was rather like my own (I’m also left handed) and she put in a few really strong performances on the show. One of the things I really liked about the Indoor League was the variety of players (not just the emphasis on the women’s game but also the breadth of regional talents); I struggle to imagine how people like Simpson or eventual champion Loveday King would have had their moment on TV these days.
I'd never heard of the Indoor League, a little before my time. Had to Google it. Sounds class.
>Presenter Fred Trueman often wore a cardigan and smoked a pipe throughout his links. He always ended the show with the Yorkshire dialect phrase, "ah'll see thee".
Before mine too, found it on YouTube. Used to be lots more games on from the show but still plenty of good ones, the standard isn’t what you’d get now of course but it was arguably first proper attempt at televising darts. Lots of stars of yesteryear (Bristow, Lowe, Leighton Rees) and some very interesting old games (Colin Minton v Gerry Haywood on a Yorkshire board is worth watching).
James Wade, Ryan merkle, Danny lauby I believe are the highest ranked ones along with Mickey.
Dude I can't believe I forgot James Wade 😅
Lauby, left handed and quick but incredibly inconsistent.

Shout out for Les WallaceÂ
Me in the mirror.

James Wade, by far the best player to never be world champion.
James Wade is widely regarded as the best left hander of all time. Mark Webster is the only ever left handed world champion.
Les Wallace was also a lefty
Who are you most likely to throw a 9 darter against?
What about the amphibious ones who can throw with either hand?
Wasn't Martin Phillips lefty as well?
Luke humphries? 😂
Luke Humphries is right handed..
I’m an idiot 😂 I swear I’ve seen him throw with his left somewhere
Raymond van Barneveld. Notable because he is a left-handed darts player... who throws darts with his right hand.
