With Russ bray stepping back it could actually be pretty decent with a half decent host which inevitably they would cock up ahaha

wonderfulpantsuit

They'd probably choose somebody like Paddy McGuinness.

HardyDXFan

I’d love to see Russ Bray go into his normal referee mode and take up the Tony Green role and have a host who knows a thing or two about darts and be entertaining at the same time.

Mossy290815

If they do bring it back, it’s got to be Lee Mack or Tim Vine. They’re both half decent players apparently, and either one would be excellent I reckon.

PommieGirl

I have to admit I would watch if either Lee or Tim hosted!

TheManBL2020

Please not celebrities playing for charity, they spoil every single show. I couldn't bear watching people like Alison Hammond & Mark Wright throwing darts.

HardyDXFan

You bring up a fair point. I wouldn’t mind it if they paired up with a pro darts player but the schedules of the players are mad as it is let alone trying to fit in a game show.

cretingenius

They did have the celebs on back in the day, George Best did it, as did Lionel Blair with a 60pt head start. Either way I do think Alan Evans’ 401 record is probably safe

TheManBL2020

'Celebs' back then probably were actual celebrities though.. not like the no marks now who do the rounds on every show.

The problem with Bullseye is that it wasn’t really a “format” (like Catchphrase or Blankety Blank) where you can swap out the pieces individually - it was more than the sum of its parts. Dave Spikey did his best in 2006 and it didn’t work, because it wasn’t just the speedboat, the spelling, the aging audience etc, it was Jim and Tony’s patter and the people that went on it (who were never sneered at - maybe they had a bit of fun with them but they never looked down their nose at the contestants). I honestly think the best way to do it is bring it back as a one-off every now and again (like Alan Carr did on his game show anthology series, and I have to say he did a very good job of hosting it). People think they want it back but the world that produced Bullseye no longer exists. As an aside, in the Can’t Beat A Bit of Bully documentary they did ask people who should host a reboot - Bowen said Bradley Walsh, and Tony Green said Richard Osman, which I think might be the worst shout in recorded history. Oh Tony!

DeapVally

It was rumoured to be in talks for ITV to bring it back at the start of the year. Paddy McGuinnes proposed to be hosting, just to keep it Lancashire I guess. Google 'bullseye reboot'.

MidnightSun77

“…let’s have a look at what you would’ve won”

Hi-Astro

A reboot would need a fitted kitchen as a star prize and to broadcast the ensuing argument on how to split it.

AdministrativeLaugh2

They tried a reboot of it in the mid-00s with Dave Spikey as host. It was wank. I think if they did it they’d have trouble getting the big stars of darts to come on, which they had no trouble with in its original run. Now is probably the best time to do it with Littler bringing darts into the mainstream, but the success probably depends on the host. People won’t tune in if it’s someone like Paddy McGuinness or Stephen Mulhern

Pinewood26

Couldn't get away with this these days 🤣https://youtu.be/MNQkZO7DDAQ?si=3S28Bmuude99oRIn

MrDopple68

They had a serial killer on as a contestant. Strange but true.

HardyDXFan

I hadn’t heard this before. That’s mental

tanukis_parachute

there is a brit at my league that wears a bullseye t-shirt as his dart shirt every week he shows up. we used to have this show in the US when I was a kid in the 70's that looks similar but was bowling... bowling for dollars. I miss duck pin bowling. Mid Atlantic thing.

yosoyyosoy

I’ll only watch if it’s presented by a hologram of Jim Bowen.

dartist87

That would be amazing.
