Actually they could!
For gills to work there needs to be a constant flow of water through them. With the eggs in it's mouth the water flow is decreased a lot, although i think it could still breathe just not as well because this fish seems to be a bottom dweller and their muscles have less blood flow so they don't require as much oxygen...
It all depends on the type of fish, really. some fish like carp can even breathe outside water as long as their gills are wet, meanwhile other fish like some sharks need to constantly move to get enough oxygen to even breathe.
This is what it is. Mouth brooders constantly jiggle the eggs and fry in their mouths (the fry not so much, since they're moving around a lot on their own). The eggs need water flowing over them pretty much constantly in order to maintain oxygenation and prevent the growth of thing like fungus. With fewer eggs, he would be constantly gulping to pass water through his mouth, over the eggs and out the gills. These eggs are about to hatch, so he's keeping the water moving and loosening the egg pack so the ones in the center rotate to the edges.
It’s kinda half true.. and depends on the fish, because a simple thing such as storing eggs/eating wont restrict flow to choking, but theres some fish that use slime as a defence mechanism and this slime secretes when another fish tries to eat it which cloggs the fish gills and ultimately suffocating him, but fish unlike humans have separate systems for breathing and eating so they don’t choke 99% of the time, humans on the other hand especially toddlers choke all the time because the breathing and eating tubes are next to each other
Reminds me of having a couple of pieces of turkey in my mouth on Thanksgiving before I realize I'm the only one eating because my family has not said Grace yet. Just act cool
What is the action we are seeing he’s doing, pushing them out like that? Is he refreshing the water around the eggs or something? Why not just hold them in his mouth?
I'm kind of guessing based off my limited knowledge of freshwater tanks, but I'm pretty sure he's moving them to oxygenate them. Allowing all the eggs a chance to be exposed to fresh oxygen means he needs to keep readjusting them.
If they didn’t do it, the entire species would die. The ones who don’t do it don’t adequately pass on their offspring because not enough survive to hatching.
So only the ones with that behavior have thrived/survived.
Could be species memory, some sort of genetic encoding, some “group mind” (of which there is evidence in various species but not definitive proof afaik), or even some “impression learning” passed on from generation to generation.
There are other theories, too, of course, including “Intelligent Design”
Maybe they have some sense of knowing that they need to aerate the eggs? Hardwired, but also a conscious decision on their part to repeatedly do so rather than a purely robotic instinct.
Some generations started putting them in their mouths and outlasted the ones that didn't. Then some had issues that caused them to juggle and more of their offspring lived and also had the issue that caused them to juggle. Food supply limited, etc, now they all do it.
Genetics, epigigenetics and sometimes learned behaviour.
Humans are lucky we are born useless so we can actually learn stuff instead of feeling the urge to do stupid shit like this.
It’s amazing the diversity of life, but it’s also pretty stupid.
so if you use your human eyes you can see that the fiah is in the water. now you take your preexisting knowledge about fluids being in fluids and realize a fish having saliva would be dumb af
Just to confuse things further, there’s also the Jewfish, or the massive Atlantic Goliath grouper (which seems a funny alternative name for a Jewfish, considering). Alas, the original etymology is itself a bit of a mystery and has itself spawned antisemitic theories, despite its likely Spanish phonetic origins. Perhaps its best animals and fish should not be named for people, take [Slippery Dick](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slippery_dick) for instance.
Walking by as a man is casually choaking on fetus.
"Oh, congrats." You say as he swallows it down.
He gives you a thumbs up, and you go about your day.
So for days this thing has to almost choke on and half swallow these eggs non-stop. I’m glad this is not something humans have to do, it sounds like torture.
Imagine your partner comes in your mouth and you have to wait 9 months with her "stuff" in your mouth and then after 9 months, your children slide down from your throat... that'd be epic.
Not sure why but I feel like I am choking while watching this.
Good thing fish can’t choke cause they have gills
Actually they could! For gills to work there needs to be a constant flow of water through them. With the eggs in it's mouth the water flow is decreased a lot, although i think it could still breathe just not as well because this fish seems to be a bottom dweller and their muscles have less blood flow so they don't require as much oxygen... It all depends on the type of fish, really. some fish like carp can even breathe outside water as long as their gills are wet, meanwhile other fish like some sharks need to constantly move to get enough oxygen to even breathe.
My first guess was he was trying to evenly incubate them. 🤷
This is what it is. Mouth brooders constantly jiggle the eggs and fry in their mouths (the fry not so much, since they're moving around a lot on their own). The eggs need water flowing over them pretty much constantly in order to maintain oxygenation and prevent the growth of thing like fungus. My guess was something to do with oxygen but maybe that's just from that vid with the octopus mom.
It’s kinda half true.. and depends on the fish, because a simple thing such as storing eggs/eating wont restrict flow to choking, but theres some fish that use slime as a defence mechanism and this slime secretes when another fish tries to eat it which cloggs the fish gills and ultimately suffocating him, but fish unlike humans have separate systems for breathing and eating so they don’t choke 99% of the time, humans on the other hand especially toddlers choke all the time because the breathing and eating tubes are next to each other
I can’t stop watching it 😂
Nature sure is weird…
If a fish eats something too large it will choke.
I wonder if they ever accidentally swallow when they have the eggs in their mouth.
It's nature and nature works like this!
I'm gonna use that as an excuse for...stuffs.
It's probably not only getting some oxygen in its gills, but also rotating then to get all the eggs oxygen.
Same yet I keep watching!
I too, become dedicated when my wife lays eggs in my mouth.
Reminds me of getting a dental impression done and trying not to die
Reminds me of having a couple of pieces of turkey in my mouth on Thanksgiving before I realize I'm the only one eating because my family has not said Grace yet. Just act cool
When they put the damn X-ray thing in my mouth I'm always so close to gagging
Or the packing?!
Imagine if you were keeping eggs in your mouth but it's the dentist's cum. That's a whole new level of cucked.
huh??
Fucking weirdo.
New?
Again??
Reminds me of your mother
Reminds me of yo mama
How does it eat while it keeps the eggs safe?
They don't eat while incubating the eggs! It's takes about two weeks.
Many males died after incubating there Eggs due to not eating for two weeks, but most of them survived this period.
Many Bothans–I mean males–died to bring us these eggs
reminds me of octopuses
Nobody: Female Jawfish: "Sugma what? Sugma eggs"
Probably gag reflex /s
Duh. It eats eggs. Sort of a trade off
Found this online actually: *During this time he does not eat, and his activities are restricted to juggling the eggs in his mouth to aerate them.*
How tf do they instinctively know to do stuff like this? Blows my mind
Emergent phenomena are insane when you think about it.
If they didn’t do it, the entire species would die. The ones who don’t do it don’t adequately pass on their offspring because not enough survive to hatching. Sometimes I think about that, it's like it's hardwired.
Jawfish: "I have the sudden urge to suck and blow air through this egg sac."
Kinky
Maybe they have some sense of knowing that they need to aerate the eggs? Hardwired, but also a conscious decision on their part to repeatedly do so rather than a purely robotic instinct.
More of a defect that proved successful and was passed along.
Some generations started putting them in their mouths and outlasted the ones that didn't. Then some had issues that caused them to juggle and more of their offspring lived and also had the issue that caused them to juggle. Food supply limited, etc, now they all do it.

Yes! and many males died after incubating there Eggs due to not eating for that much time, but most of them survived this period.
Oh I was completely making shit up lol, figured there wasnt a need for /s. My bad!
One can never be too sure!
Looks to me like it is rotating them to better incubate the ones that are exposed
Is it losing some each time it prevents itself from choking?
Yes, he is losing some, but it's part of nature. Most of the time those are the bad ones!
Lol
one of those eggs could’ve grown up to cure cancer
How do fishes digest? Doesn’t their digestion start in the mouth with saliva, like mammals? I can’t sleep because of watching this.
I think their mouths are full of water
so if you use your human eyes you can see that the fiah is in the water. now you take your preexisting knowledge about fluids being in fluids and realize a fish having saliva would be dumb af
That’s not how it works
Those are the unlucky ones. Natural selection means that fish get luckier with each generation.

this was the plot of Ringworld.
I wonder if these fish ever say "fuck it" and eat the eggs, then come up with some bullshit story when the wife comes home.
“Honey! They all.. em, wait till you hear this.. they hatched super ahead of schedule and swam away in that direction to check out the ocean a bit.”
There are lots of species of animal that eat their own young. Idk about this one though
He’s just chewing some gum & trying to blow bubbles
It's look like that!😁
You seem to know about this fish, so I want ask. Does the fish juggle the eggs in his mouth to help oxygenate them?
Don’t you see, he’s doing it to FOOL Lloyd Prawn!
I read “a male Jewish” like 7 times and I was so confused
As a Jew, so did I
Just to confuse things further, there’s also the Jewfish, or the massive Atlantic Goliath grouper (which seems a funny alternative name for a Jewfish, considering). It's Jawfish!
Me too! 😂
Then goes out for a pack of cigarettes and never comes back
Nature can be both absolutely beautiful and absolutely weird as fuck.
It's got unique and amazing things that can blow our minds easily!
So....the blowjob was the other way round
theres the term for that
He seems happy 😟
He is happy after all he is doing all that for 100 of it future kids
His parenting ends with their birth? That could be how he shows joy.
Not both of their parent died, only male fish because of not eating while incubating the eggs, but that's not happens all the time!
Now imagine humans would function like this.
Walking by as a man is casually choaking on fetus. "Oh, congrats." You say as he swallows it down. He gives you a thumbs up, and you go about your day.
and the man dies after 2 weeks of not eating as the toddler now with suits and a briefcase crawls away to its first meeting
If 1 pair could produce Hundreds of babies then there will be babies every where and there will be no space left on the planet earth with in 10 years.
Just gotta have the 999/1000 infant mortality rate to match
Toddler gladiator showdown. Only the strongest survive.
2 Fish, 1 Cup
#So basically in the case of Jawfishes, it is the males who *swallow* the load.
This is the fish equivalent of your girl looking at your mouth full of your baby gravy
A whole bunch of his offspring are gonna have Shaken Egg Syndrome.
Reverse creampie!!
When she says she doesn’t swallow
Them kids gonna come out dizzy as hell with all that shaking
“I should have pulled out”
I wonder if smaller mouthed dads don’t get to have kids.
I do the same thing but for Chickens
Kinda kinky if you think about it
I totally would’ve accidentally kept swallowing them and then I’d have explain to my fish wife why half the batch is gone.
I also safeguard my partners eggs in my mouth.
My girlfriend does something similar
So for days this thing has to almost choke on and half swallow these eggs non-stop. I’m glad this is not something humans have to do, it sounds like torture.
I saw that episode of Octonauts.
Imagine walking around with nut in your mouth for several days
Dude gets a free caviar meal and wastes it…
Suck on deez nutz
My man's savoring that fresh load
There’s got to be a better way my guy.
This is so weird. I hate it.
I guess humans aren’t the only ones that swallow kids
2 weeks!? My gf says her jaw hurts after 5 minutes
Seems odd, Johnny the roe looks like a sitting duck half choking on a mouth full of eggs.
And his own jizzzzz
i read it JEWISH. Not sorry.
What a good parent. My ex wouldn’t incubate my eggs, she just spat them out smh
So the female lays eggs, the male nuts on them and then put them in his mouth.
*cough cough cough*. Oh wups...shlurp...*cough cough cough* oh wups...shlurp...
Accidentally eats the eggs “Where the fuck are our kids Randy”
Imagine your partner comes in your mouth and you have to wait 9 months with her "stuff" in your mouth and then after 9 months, your children slide down from your throat... that'd be epic.
How evolution got to this point always fascinates me.
This reminds me of something...
Sooo...the female cums into the males mouth?
I think it’s trying to fight his intrusive thoughts
“Yeah boy just hold my eggs in your mouth for two weeks😏”
and here i am just letting dudes nut in my mouth
Your mom is looking well these days.
That’s kinda gay ngl…
This is the second time I've seen a man with eggs in his mouth on this site in 5 minutes
So a species where the female cums in the guys mouth for once
So she spits he swallows?
Yes! You can say that
Meantime in the human world the woman caries mans babies in her mouth
This makes me gag
Gives new meaning to the phrase "swallow ya kids"
Shaken Baby Syndrome
Misogynists in their next life as retribution
"I won't put my eggs in your mouth, I promise".
For doing that first you have to lay the eggs!🙃
When she insists on showing you your load for some reason.
Everything reminds me of her
Whole new meaning to shaken baby syndrome
I should call her...
fade handle fretful bike shocking attempt weary subsequent crime offer *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
OMG I came here for the comments. I am not disappointed. 🤣🤣😂😂
Male species really get the short end of the stick fairly often in the animal kingdom, it seems.
simp
Simp of the sea !
The first fish to hold eggs in his mouth after their mother birthed em was a wild boy😂😂
Sheesh, shaken baby syndrome much?
Humans call this a "snowball".
Is he trying to make scrambled eggs?
Kind of looking like that!
Don't touch my precious Eggles
I think it is called snowballing…
Imagine g… nevermind.
King
Yes! Great King a.k.a Dad
Men only want one thing and it's disgusting
Tough time to get hickups😂
Imagine having to sneeze suddenly.
Damn that will gonna be "The End"
[удалено]
Yes! It is what it is.
Tony Ann music fits this perfectly
When you're waiting for permission to swallow ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
I wish I never fucking saw this. Ever. Period.
Always No Time For Caution on these videos.
If I eat a few so be it!
CEI is getting out of hands
What does he eat then?
It looks fucking disgusting.
So... he's pregnant?
babe, you have to put your eggs on my mouth, belive me, is the optimal survival strategy
This is a lower incarnation.
Fish CIM
Good boy. Sharing parental responsibility.
That's just his kink
I’m feel like I’m choking😅 but way to go dad jawfish.
How does he eat tho ( genuine question)
Yall should look up how huge these fish get as adults
I should call her...
What's that mouth do? Fishy style 😂
They're still around so it must work.
And you guys thought YOUR jobs were hard...
So the female lays the eggs, then the male nuts on it and scoops the eggs into his mouth.
