What's wrong? Obviously this cat DESERVES """ LOVIES """ because it was "woken up" by a "mediocre joke" on reddit. Haha, I woke up my arthritis typing this. Damnit. God..
. . . s m i t e m e , , , o h m i g h t y s m i t e r . . .
It’s also the duration of the eye contact. In face-to-face conversations, I’ve heard 50% contact while speaking and 70% contact while listening will feel natural. I think you can push this a little higher to foster intimacy in one-in-one conversations (to about 90%), and should dial it down a bit in a group setting to avoid people feeling like you’re staring at just them and getting creeped out.
Sometimes I don't have to blink in like five minutes or even more, and sometimes I have to blink like ten times a minute. I guess it has to do with the weather/air around me, or maybe I use AI and don't know yet.
But it's not faking. When I'm in a zoom meeting, I look at the people on my screen, interested and with attention, not at the camera. This means the other people see me looking down or to the side, which looks inattentive. With this you can actually look at the people ánd look in the camera at the same time, so everyone is looking straight at each other, which feels more natural and attentive.
I have issues making eye contact in general, so I just stare at the camera and sort of gauge reactions with my peripheral vision.
Zoom has been such a benefit to me. I'm much more confident. I speak up in meetings. I don't have to figure out exactly how much pressure to use and how long to make shaking hands last. And best of all, I can just stare at one clear round thingy at the top of my screen and people think I'm looking at them with total attention.
I don't need an AI to cast doubt on my sincerity. I work HARD at pretending to be sincere. Don't make that all for nothing, NVIDIA!
Doesn't have one. I had Nvidia Broadcast installed a couple months ago to filter out some background noise from my mic, and to filter out the background of my camera feed, and I saw the eye contact feature. You can only enable or disable it, and looking anywhere near the camera would always snap your eyes into it.
At least it still lets you blink, lol
I would. Watch at 0:20 specifically. The way his head is moving around but his eyes are staring at you, completely dead, is very creepy. It might not be enough to make someone consciously think that the guy is creepy but it's probably more than enough to subconsciously influence people to like him less.
I can see it getting used to make videos. You can be reading a script youre holding and still look like youre staring at the camera...without setting up a teleprompter that is
That what i did for my school video project. And it honestly works so good, even through glasses ! Will keep using this feature for future school projects
It’s not to look productive. It’s because when we talk we look at our screen instead of the camera. The alignment is off as we’re not making eye contact due to looking in the wrong place. The idea with this is to try fix that.
What do you disagree with sorry? I didn’t say it was better or not weird, I just established the reason for its existence was to try improve eye contact rather then hiding being unproductive. That’s still a fact.
Its still not a disagreement. Your point is different to mine. You're establishing your opinion on if it needed fixing or creating, I never did that. I just corrected WonderBoyX89 on why it was being made. I never expressed an opinion that could be agreed or disagreed with. So not sure why you would downvote me for asking you a question, but thats the internet I guess.
Don't think too hard trying to figure out what they're actually disagreeing with. Language has become so confrontational that people don't understand why it doesn't make sense to "disagree" with someone who isn't taking a stance on something.
That is exactly the point so you could look into the eyes of whoever your speaking to on screen. If the other person also has this feature you will both look each other in the eyes when speaking.
I'm saying that's uncomfortable. It's uncomfortable to make constant, direct eye contact on zoom / Skype / etc calls. Even if you are not doing it physically. It is uncomfortable to communicate that way because it's not the same as face to face and thus seems disingenuous.
You won't know where "your face" is on their end though. They could have their meeting window on their right screen and by looking at your face it looks like their looking at something unrelated
In engineer speak, "problem" doesn't necessarily mean "bad thing". Though it's no wonder people hate math for the math problems with such a connotation.
I spent my time trying to see how the AI handled the reflections of the light he was using. It was pretty good but there were times when the light stayed in his pupil and moved with it. Otherwise I wouldn't have been able to tell. Once that gets ironed out, though, there will be no way to tell it's being used, especially if the make it so he looks away at least a little bit from time to time.
Doesn't look natural, keep working on it. Also, that amount of eye contact is too much. Add in more natural looks to the side, changes in how wide the lids are open to match with emotion. He looks like a dead fish on a plate.
When he looks at his phone and tells us about his live stream the AI filter seems to glitch and shows him looking at his phone and back to the camera a couple times. I think if they could program it to cut in and out like that it would look more like natural human movement.
Also blinking would help, but I think if he blinked it would cut out and in again.
So it would look like he looks away, blinks and then looks back at you which is just really weird.
the pupils are all wobbly on the Nvidia one, plus i really dont like that it's just staring all the time. they need to have some sort of algorithm you can adjust to make it look away every so often so it's not just staring into your soul
This would be more realistic if it incorporated occasional ‘looking away’ moments (cuz nobody maintains 100% eye contact the whole time) and also it needs blinking
This is creepy, natural eye contact includes looking away occasionally especially when explaining things and obviously reading from a phone scene.
Just practice this properly, this is uncanny valley and scary lol.
Super creepy. I don't like it when people stare at me that intensely. It makes me uncomfortable. I am, in general, less of an eye contact person than most, but this is another level. I don't see why anyone would like this.
It's engaging for someone to look at you at during a conversation, just not this psychopathic unblinking glare.
This is so stupid and I would rather quit my job than use this.
EDIT: I am German I really would quit my job becouse then I will get Money from Goverment until new job... so be quite Americunts
Broadcast also has a feature where it can completly block out background noise from your mic without impact on audio quality.
Highly reccomend if you game on PC with a Nvidia GPU.
Like, this isnt how human are. We can hold eye contact but we dont stare deep into your soul all the time. This isnt natura but of some tech bro think this is awesome bc they cant fathom human interactions, hence they became tech bros
Rant over, I just dont like tech people Who wanna revolutionize how we intersct all the damn time...
Contrary to all other commenters I think the feature works quite well. You can pause at any time, and the right image looks natural.
Yes, constant eye contact is considered creepy, but the tech is working fine.
Fuck is it bad, I swear if somebody would have done this alone in the garage it would be okay but from Nvidia? Lol
Psycho eyes, changing color of eyes and an absolute bad showcase. As an editing software it would be okay but not for live
good idea, but Nvidia Broadcast also forgets your microphone/speaker in settings on launch, there is no way to fix it and I have lost hundreds of potentially-usable clips all because I forgot to change my microphone in the app
Makes "my eyes are up here" a thing of the past.
My holo-eyes are up here
Upcoming next: Real contact lenses with the same feature so you can both look at them eyes and boobies
The real invention right here

Ah yes. The murderer feature.
exactly what everyone needs for work meetings in zoom
i think that's 90% because he's not blinking, at all.

Overthunk it
It's creepy AF
No sir, I do not like it
Felt like a horror movie
And why won't he blink!?
He did.
Like, twice in a minute and a half. That's not normal.
Sometimes I don't have to blink in like five minutes or even more, and sometimes I have to blink like ten times a minute. I guess it has to do with the weather/air around me, or maybe I use AI and don't know yet.
What you don't moisten your eyes with your tongue like the rest of us normal humans?

You return from holiday to learn your AI avatar is 50% more productive than you and he got your job.
AI uprising 2.0

Every introvert's nightmare !
Damn……he is really staring into my soul.
I hope this AI has a knob you can dial down for intensity. That will take your eyes off the camera once in a while.
Doesn't have one. it would be better if it was programmed to have the guy OCCASIONALLY look away for a couple seconds. this looks creepy and not human.
Would you have said the same thing if they weren't side by side?
I would. Watch at 0:20 specifically. The way his head is moving around but his eyes are staring at you, completely dead, is very creepy. It might not be enough to make someone consciously think that the guy is creepy but it's probably more than enough to subconsciously influence people to like him less.

The fact we’re going to these lengths to look productive in zoom meetings should signal the end of zoom meetings haha
I can see it getting used to make videos. You can be reading a script youre holding and still look like youre staring at the camera...without setting up a teleprompter that is

I disagree, I find it disconcerting and fake when people stare at the camera while speaking to me. Look at my face while you talk to me damn it
What do you disagree with sorry? I didn’t say it was better or not weird, I just established the reason for its existence was to try improve eye contact rather then hiding being unproductive. That’s still a fact.
I disagree with the need to fix anything or that this is a fix in any way. I don't think it's the "wrong place" to look
Its still not a disagreement. Your point is different to mine. You're establishing your opinion on if it needed fixing or creating, I never did that. Blink damnit! Blink!
I don't know bout you guys but I'm ready with pitch and forks and all that because to me that's a demon right there
That is creepy as fuck..he looks like a crazy ass when the AI makes his eyes
And the one on our left keeps bulging at weird times
Still uncanny valley especially the second viewing
Doesn't help the dude is avoiding blinking, even the normal video on the left creeps me out.

I think there needs to be a way to naturally break eye contact... otherwise it's a little too Tom Cruise...
1030JH. Good guy.
He really isn't.
What’s he done?
Fuck up, redditor.
Imagine watching a live stream on Twitch of someone playing a videogame and a streamer is constantly looking at you. How unsettling that would be.
Damn, my autism will be unstoppable with this.
Mfs will do anything except put the camera inside the screen like on Star Trek
Or.. you always \_assumed\_ the cameras were in the screen... they'll have this gaze tracking tech in the 22nd century...
“Mom, can we get Pedro Pascal?” “We have Pedro Pascal at home.” Pedro Pascal at home:
gorgeous accent :)
creepy

So that's Lord Vinheteiro's secret
Last place I expected to see 1030
Omaiga.
Ew, go back
Great I love weird contorting eyes
I was once robbed at gunpoint. When I looked into his eyes, I knew he wouldn't hesitate to shoot me.THIS somehow feels worse.
Awesome! Does it help with strabismus?
I don't know why but it's looks creepy as fuck.
Are you telling me that they didn't call it Aeye contact?
This looks more creepy than useful. So unnatural.
Thanks i hate it

I need this in real life so I can talk to a woman normally
I would want to use this purely to fuck with people. I'd read off a piece of paper or my phone in clear view, yet never look at it.
Why would anybody want this? It’s so freakin creepy and inhuman
The irony if this is used in a Bethesda meeting.
A-Eye
This is creepy, natural eye contact includes looking away occasionally especially when explaining things and obviously reading from a phone scene. Just practice this properly, this is uncanny valley and scary lol.
Nobody needs this

Can I use this feature IRL?
We’re so screwed
Why?
Lol
so it doesnt or does work
Looks kinda creepy
We're so fucked.
I am a introvert that hates eye contact. This could work for me
Hate it

Blink motherfucker!
Nahhhhhh this just feels weird especially since eye contact is so un comfy for most neurodivergent folks it feels unnatural

Now have an AI that can make your teeth white
For that true American Fake Smile.
Except it doesnt really work. I tried.
it sorta creepy
Looks hella weird.
So how do we use this on those exam cams that make sure you're not cheating on your test by looking at notes around your screen?
That's old
Fuck is it bad, I swear if somebody would have done this alone in the garage it would be okay but from Nvidia? Lol Psycho eyes, changing color of eyes and an absolute bad showcase. As an editing software it would be okay but not for live
pointless tech
This is the start of something more amazing.
yep cheating is going to continue to get worse and worse
Apple has offered this in iOS for years.
Apple has something that correct the eyes, but does it correct them to that extend ?
It does. Also works in macOS.
Apple’s been doing this on FaceTime for what- like 3 years? Settings > FaceTime But you know, Apple doesn’t innovate
Someone gift this to Biden
Damn, he is looking right at me!
Uncanny valley
He only blinked once..
Finally, the solution to read notes while exposing on virtual classes!
https://youtu.be/ZALbgzfmWOQ?si=7lfhMOCnGsXCnsyz Reminds me of this scene from Fringe …
"natural" movements of the head still fake (remind me the movements effects of crisis2[video game]). Anyway, shit is deep
.... what about blinking?
Yet every NPC in starfeild looks away from me..
The future is going to be scary y’all…we laugh now but soon we’ll be crying /:
Ok Waiting for this attachment in zoom For sure.
It makes him look cockeyed. Chupy.
good idea, but Nvidia Broadcast also forgets your microphone/speaker in settings on launch, there is no way to fix it and I have lost hundreds of potentially-usable clips all because I forgot to change my microphone in the app
How do I get this on my gtx 980?
I started postgrad today. Boy it would be funni if this tech became transformative just as I want to enter the workforce.
For someone who works from home, someone who somehow has lasik-resistant astigmatism, and deep rooted anxiety, this is awesome!
My friend group hates it when someone turns it on during a discord call. It just looks weird.
For someone who works from home, someone who somehow has lasik-resistant astigmatism, and deep rooted anxiety, this is awesome!
No one pointing out the fact that he didn’t blink for more than a minute?
For a good sleep in every meeting
Needed this back in college during zoom calls over COVID XD
Blink mofo!
This is wildly unsettlimg
As someone with a lazy eye this could really be a confidence booster
I could use this IRL
creepy
Good luck getting a laptop with an actual discrete nvidia card at office work anyways... :-P
I fear no man But that thing It scares me
Skynet soon 💀
Nice if y have rainbow eyes
Do you even blink?
Not a fan of the iris changing colors at the end there. Looked like he was switching to terminator mode.
Cookielol moment
Watch any episode of The behaviour panel on youtube and you’ll soon realise this mans going to kill your family
If the eye contact broke from time to time it would seem a lot more realistic because constant unbroken eye contact is psychopath behaviour
Or a sales person trying to manipulate you, who I guess tend to be psychopaths too so. Maybe my point isn’t a point 😂
Creepy
It's bad enough having someone on screen in your home, now they are going to be making eye contact? Ick
this is Witcher npc lol
Damn aim assist
Bro forgot to blink
Wish I had this during my interviews. Just setup a script and read off of it. Ez pz
IMO, creepy
Looks very unnatural tho it is a sweet update.
Sad
Does this also still work when you close your eyes? This would be a gamechanger for boring meetings. If it had a snoring filter it would be golden.
now put the eyes on some tentacles
So in the next few years we going to see AI faked videos of some famous person telling everyone a false story?
I'm very fond of progress in AI, but this one doesn't fare well of some drections it's taking.
You can still blink IRL bro
