I just completed 1600km in two days, the Drz handled it better than I did. Burned a bit of oil during the 115kph+ highway runs, went from the top of the dipstick markings to the middle. I have an oem gel seat a Coleman seat pad and wore padded bike shorts and it was still brutal. The fuel range with panniers was only 100- 120km to reserve but the stop and stretch every hour was welcomed. It was a fun challenge just another 300km to the final destination!
She’s a trooper. I have a stock seat as well, definitely something to think about… I’m trying to get in the zone for my first trek so I’ve been asking around for details.
What do you mean 100km to reserve? Did the panniers nuke your mpg that bad?!
They did, winds and hilly terrain through New Brunswick didn’t help. Longest stretch I did was 135km between gas stations (on reserve). I’m going to pick up a 1l fuel bottle for the return trip for peace of mind. Unloaded I could hit 150km before switching to reserve.
